Your videos are my guilty pleasure 🤣. Im a grown ass man who cares little about Barney, but for some odd reason I watch your hours long Barney videos. I think its because this is so pure and wholehearted compared to whats going on in the world and the rest of the internet.
Fun Fact: Barney Goes To School is actually 30 minutes, but your copy adds an extra 10 minutes for the commercials at the end. I actually agree with your tier list! Even though I am nostalgically biased by Three Wishes and Campfire Sing-Along, if I did this teir list, it prob would be the same thing! Awesome vid as always😁👌
@@HedgeOnStage You're more than welcome!😊 A similar thing happened on my VHS of "Let's Sing And Learn - Fun-Time Favorites". The box claims it's 20 minutes, but omitting the promo at the end, the tape is actually about 16 minutes, no joke!
When I was very young, Waiting for Santa was playing in the waiting room of the clinic I used to go to. Mind you, this was around 2005. I had been exposed to the first few seasons of Barney and Friends through my VHS tapes and the PBS Sprout reruns, but I had no knowledge of the Backyard Gang series. So my 4-year-old self was super confused when I saw Tina and Derek looking so different and young. 😂

For reference- John Grable directed Day at the Beach, and a few other VHS tapes. Sadly, he passed away on May 11th of 2016. And absolutely NOBODY talked about it. Which, makes me kind of sad.
Great video man all of those videos were part of my childhood if I had to choose a favorite video it would have to be a three way tie between waiting for Santa Barney the backyard show and Barney in concert basically because I remember watching all of them a lot as a kid but I would have to say I liked those three the most I used to think campfire sing along was kinda weird but now that I’m 26 years old I think all of them are definitely worth passing along
A day at the beach should have been released first because it makes sense that the kids meet barney for the very first time then the backyard show second and third three wishes but the first tapes got released in different orders
@@HedgeOnStage oh that’s cool! For me? I always loved the story on how Barney was made. I was thought it would be cool if the made a back to the future/ saving mr banks type of origin film. Barney imagines himself going back into time and watching his life being born but tries to prevent stuff from his existence being altered

Growing up I know I had at least some of these Backyard Gang Videos and I usually seemed to prefer them over the Barney & Friends Videos. I know for a fact that I had Waiting for Santa and Barney in Concert. I think I may have also had Rock with Barney and I’m almost certain I had at least one of the original 3 videos because I remember seeing that version of the Barney costume. As for my favorite video overall, it’s gotta be Waiting for Santa. I watched it year round. Didn’t matter to me if it was Christmas time or not.

Pretty good ranking and thoughts of the whole Barney and the Backyard Gang series from 1988 until 1991 if I ever do a top eight video on one of those Backyard Gang videos then I will do that during the 35th Anniversary next year.

Agreed hedge on stage a day at the beach is the first vhs 📼 tape I thought 💭 the backyard show was the first tape but to me I perfer a day at the beach is Barney’s first chronically instead of the backyard show.

I would actually agree with you about Waiting for Santa because I had that tape when I was a kid, and my siblings and I would only watch it in December, during the Christmas season. I feel like with A Day at the Beach, The Backyard Show, and Three Wishes, Sheryl Leach had a story she wanted to tell with Barney, but with the remaining five tapes they just needed to get the tapes out because the first three were popular enough to warrant more tapes coming out. I mean that second trilogy of tapes all came out in 1990 and they're a very middle of the road kind of thing. And the last two are weird, because you had the live show, and then Rock with Barney, and like with Rock with Barney, they knew that Barney & Friends was coming up by that point and it felt like a promotional thing for the show, since it also introduced Lauren King as Kathy. The Backyard Gang is weird for me because I only owned The Backyard Show, Waiting for Santa, Barney in Concert and Rock with Barney, with Barney in Concert being taped off TV, so those are the ones I watched the most since I had them on the shelf. I didn't see Three Wishes until I was an adult, and I rented or borrowed or watched at the hospital A Day at the Beach, Barney's Campfire Sing-Along, and Barney Goes to School so I probably saw them only two or three times each, maybe. So it's hard for me to rank them all because I haven't really sat with them enough outside of the ones I owned.
From what I’m noticing on your channel you really like the more imaginative stories and episodes of Barney. At least from what I’m seeing, if I’m wrong my bad. Lol But I get why you would honestly. Imagination is quite important to have. I like to write so I get why it’s so important to have a sense of imagination and wonder.
To be honest, I kinda agree with that. I don’t mind Barney being a teacher. But I adore when the kids teach each other and help each other more when it was time to convey a message.
My favorites are......Barney a day at the beach, 3 wishes, camp fire sing along, Barney waiting for Santa is ok but i would only watch around Christmas time. being someone who owned all of the vhs tapes from the 2nd series of the Backyard Gang when i was very young, those are 100% my faves. I understand why the first 3 tapes hold that value for you, being that you had access to them at the time. I vaguely remembered watching the blue Barney tapes with my dad but I never owned them and desperately wanted to see them for years. my sister got them from ebay when we were in middle school and I was ecstatic. I watched all 3 and was as entertained as I could be, but the production value in those first sets of tapes pale in comparison to later years in the BYG series. Campfire Sing A Long, Waiting for Santa and Barney Goes to School were all classic in my house. Barney with his bug eyes and claw-like hands was slightly terrifying but when I got over being afraid of him I grew to love him and the whole cast. My favorite of those 3 had to be between Barney Goes to School and Campfire Sing A Long. Queen Tina was front and center and she became my favorite character. The music in those tapes are top tier, from I'm being eaten by T-Rex, Frog on a Log and my personal favorite "Little cabin in the forest green" in CSA to "I wish there was school everyday", the weather song and the CLASSIC "if all the raindrops." Beyond the music, my young mind felt the actors and Barney had found a rhythm with each other that felt inviting and fun. Those tapes will always be my faves. Out of the original series, I'm gonna say A Day at the Beach was my fave, mostly for the "swimming, swimming under the deep blue sea" song which was featured as advertisements at the end of the 2nd series BYG tapes that left me mesmerized as an adolescent. Seeing Barney and the gang swimming "under water" was really cool lol. A Day at the Beach was the one Blue Barney tape I vaguely remembered watching with my dad. I could say so much more but I'll end it here and say I love your channel. it truly legitimizes the impact Barney has had on people like me.

I never owned the original Backyard Gang videos as a kid, but I would have to say my favorites that I did own are "Barney Goes to School" and "Waiting for Santa". Those are nostalgic to me because I had them as a kid. LOL, "Rock with Barney, get out of here. " Funnily enough I had that one as a kid too but hadn't thought of it in years. I'm not sure what my opinion on it is but I suppose I'd put it in the nostalgic category too just because it was a childhood tape. Oh, and speaking of "Imagination Island." I had that one too and my mom says I always watched it at bedtime, probably because of the "Bedtime with Barney" tagline.
