Time to see which Electric Unicycles are expected to be the best EUCs of 2023, and which ones will flop hard. In this video, I talked about the Extreme Bull Commander Pro Max, the Kingsong S19, Begode Extreme and the Inmotion Adventure and Challenger Y. This isn't one to miss, and as always is filled with strong opinions stated as if they were facts. Enjoy!

There needs to be more channels like this, that review upcoming EUCs. I totally agree with your King Song assessment. It seems as if they are just content with suspension innovation. Has it been confirmed that the suspension for the upcoming V13 will be interchangeable with the older? If that is true that would be great, but the only problem will be that the range upgrade seems to be impossible. I guess I will wait for the upgraded V13. I was considering the Veteran Patton, but that Begode Extreme could be my answer. You forgot about the King Song basketball 😅

Watt hours is the better measurement for capacity. You can make a 30Ah pack that won't last longer than a 5Ah pack by ignoring the voltage. The first has 4v and the second 126v. (120Wh vs 625Wh). But yes, you have to take into account that if you ride a 126v wheel harder, it'll have less range than a 100v wheel with the same capacity.

How about electronic reliability (I mean MOSFETS)? Inmotion has not proven to be very reliable. Another very important thing is mass. What if I live on the 4th floor and don't have an elevator? What if my EUC breaks in the middle of nowhere?
@WheelGoodTime
@WheelGoodTime 2 месяца назад
Based on my experience, the most reliable EUC brand is Begode (for all current generation EUCs, anyway). Second place in reliability goes to Leaperkim, but only on the Sherman S and Lynx models. If you live up on the 4th floor with no elevator, you can get an EUC up most steps easily enough - as long as the stairs are concrete. If they are carpeted or wooden, then you risk potentially damaging the steps going up or down. The lighter the EUC, the easier it'll be going up and down the stairs 🙂 the real question is, how much weight can YOU handle pushing it up and down the stairs?

Watt hours is a far better way of measuring battery capacity than Amp hours. That is because any battery can be compared to any other battery. Where figures for batteries are measured in Amp Hours they are not comparable for batteries of different voltages.

Finally someone who are able to look at the new EUC's with rational eyes. I haven't bought a new wheel since my first batch Sherman, and even though the bms got shorted on one of the battery sides, so now just a heavy thing on the garage shelf, which means that my old battered 18XL is my only working wheel, I can't see a new wheel that I want. Gotway/Begode is even worse than my Sherman, when it comes to battery safety, so they have never been on my radar. Inmotion and Kingsong keeps making wheels with stupid specs at stupid prices. What about a non suspension 18-20 inch wheel with more than 100v and 2500wh, and a safe BMS system, at a sub 3000$ price? I'll even pay more if it was easy to fix flats or change tires. For me now, EUC's are dead.

one wheel i think that is over looked is the begode T4. i got the T4 batch 2 and i got to say i love it i do off road and just long rides on it and it is sososo nice. what makes the T4 a good option is that the price is $1000 cheaper than the other wheels in its size. second i feel its such a nice wheel for new euc riders it gives you room to grow into it to become a more advance rider and if you start saving your money when you get it by the time you do need a more powerful wheel you will have the money saved up lol.

Nice video. Though niote you're idea of Amp Hrs vs Watt Hrs is off in terms of range. Range takes watts for hours. All Amp Hrs represent is how much current for an hour. If you increase the voltage at that same current you get more power. P=V*I = R*I^2 = (V^2)/R (same motor higher voltage = huge difference)

Correct. Amphours are completely meaningless alone; whenever we talk about energy (and battery capacity) it's the *joules* that matter and the most convenient unit for expressing joules of energy is _watthours_ so it's easy to estimate that an average draw of 100 W of power for 4 hours drains about half the usable capacity of an 800 Wh battery. A watt of _power_ is spending one joule of _energy_ per second. The current multiplied by voltage also gives us the power in watts, and then if we multiply the power with time we get energy in watthours. Always, always use watthours for an "apples to apples" comparison between battery packs because otherwise, if the battery pack voltage information is omitted, there is no way to tell how much energy the pack contains. 72 V system vs. 100 volt system would leave you with a 30% difference right there, even if they used the same exact cells with the same Ah nominal capacity!

Thanks for the kind words! As I said before, buy once, cry once. Get the absolute best wheel that you can afford So you don't risk outgrowing it and find yourself wanting to buy something better/more powerful in a month or two. Any 16 to 18 in wheel should be good - I am personally looking at possibly getting an extreme for trail purposes, but that wheel also will be small enough to facilitate a learner as well. 🙂

Patton or s22 pro ?
@WheelGoodTime
@WheelGoodTime Год назад
Depends on your use case and desires. The Patton has a smaller wheel diameter so it will be inherently less stable at higher speeds, but it has a higher speed safety margin. The Patton seems much, much more sturdy in the event of a crash. But the s22 pro has longer suspension travel - so many factors to consider. I am personally a "big wheel" kinda guy so I'd personally opt for the s22 pro if forced between the two choices.

Pedals - they are a bit uncomfortable and I can't get the right feel on my feet. But, they are solid and haven't been damaged at all as I've seen in reviews on other cycle's.- To address one comment about the seat connection not straight. Huh? Having a difficult time understanding your obsession with amp hours. Watt hours are a far more universal measurement that accounts for different voltage.
@WheelGoodTime
@WheelGoodTime Год назад
It's not exactly an obsession🤣 but amp hours are the best way to measure for range on an EUC because they run on a certain voltage. That's why the Sherman S gets similar range to a Master Pro because it has 34 volts less, and 1200wh less battery capacity. Amp hours are an effective way to estimate potential range, watt hours do not account for voltage.

Characteristics S19 - great, exactly what is missing + roller suspension, of course the audio speaker and LED lighting, unnecessary for 2023. @electricunipsycho
@electricunipsycho Год назад
I completely disagree with the s19. I think it's going to be a great wheel. The range will be plenty for most rides and you can fast charge it. It's made to be a smaller wheel not a range master. People will make pads for it. It's going to be a great wheel and alot of people are already excited about it
@WheelGoodTime
@WheelGoodTime Год назад
Well of course YOU like the s19 🤣Anyway, for the price tag, it just doesn't deliver. People who want their front pads in an aggressive forward lean will be unable to mount pads in that way at all, which rules out a large segment of the population. This wheel is a much closer competitor to a T4 (specs-wise), but the price tag isn't justified based on its spec list. The wonky pad design and exposed speakers will scare off many potential customers. I can see the speakers getting a 3d printed cover made by some entrepreneur, but the 100v system and the forward pad puts this wheel in the grave when compared to the similarly-priced waterproof offerings from other companies.

{tl;dr … written by phone so needs editing} The big tell on the S19 is that Kingsong took a community sourced idea for saving the S20 with roller sliders but ignored the advice that this was only a tempo solution and should be dramatically redesigned before extending the model production run. Not only are the S-22pro sliders still inadequate for long term serviceability but they’ve hastily transferred this design deficiency to lower price point models. Huge tactical error in production management! I feel terrible for their people and hope they hire appropriate consultants to extract them from self-destruction. On major problem that we seldom hear about is the production budget resource allocation between the scooter group and the EUC group, which is relevant because of the high volume demands for OEM rental scooters. Since the marketplace for citywide rental scooters has proven unviable (as an exploitative business model), the allocation of talent is usually constrained due to the need to rapidly iterate with newer model design, which can exhaust profitability when organic growth slows below expectations. I’m completely naive of what’s actually happening but it’s obvious that Inmotion has a strategic development plan while others are in a war of attrition. I love my 16x… everyone should get one, regardless of how many wheels you already have. It’s slightly outdated but its value is unmatched. Those roller sliders will be the kiss of death if they don’t solve this design problem more elegantly. I do like the Hou Ningning rollers as a good option but how frequently will I need replacements if I planned on keeping it in service daily. Rapid failures in the materials used in early versions of the rollers indicates that this is more of a structural design flaw than it was about materials selection. The S22 should continue to be sold but a promise of radically changed battery boxes should be fast-tracked… and provided at cost so that all existing models could potentially be upgraded over successive owners. Inmotion CEO bravely admitted that the evolution of the V11 shocks to the V13 design was an insufficient compromise. This is to be corre by bringing MTB hydraulic cartridge type suspension combined with a coil-shock linkage system, similar to the Begode Extreme but hopefully using aftermarket parts sourced from other industry players. This benefits the consumer in delaying the planned obsolescence that is inherent with rapidly evolving products. I’m personally lobbying for mass gyro stabilization, which would truly be revolutionary but that’s still 5-10 years away. Gyrowheels would be an improvement in ride quality and performance as significant as self balancing was when it first enabled the sport. Gyro-cycles could eliminate the step-learning curve (which is a major barrier for Sector growth… and do the following: Eliminate rider induced wobbles… self-balance in all directions… enhanced power slides… improve regenerative efficiency and capacity… potentially self-drive in formation (which means that the sophisticated self-driving sensors and programming is unnecessary… Attitude control gyros can also act as an energy storage and rapid absorption device, which can offload unwanted regenerative loads from burdening the motherboard components Or requiring unnecessary heat sinks to dump spikes in current like those induced while jumping or idling; this could eliminate electronic overheating and eliminate electrical currents from straining or harming the batteries… there’s more but this shouldn’t cost more than 1/3 of present day production costs yet will yield a 50% increase in consumer pricing… with the potential for safety and performance to exceed median passenger car or motorcycle metrics at a lifetime cost of ownership that is an order of magnitude less than a two stroke moped… so, gasoline would have to be free to compete with gyro wheels. Did I mention that the technology has existed and been proven in vehicles dating back to the 1950’s? Lastly, a gyro stabilized electric unicycle could make extreme braking effortless and forgiving for inexperienced riders. Antilock braking even on slick surfaces on like ice, oil or hydroplane… so riding while impaired in a snowstorm across the black ice is no more strenuous than riding slowly in deep sand… easy and predictable… but wait, there’s more… shock dampening will become redundant which is 90% or more of the complexity and costs of the current suspension, which means zero suspension maintenance for the life of the EUC! … gyro stabilization can act while jumping (mid-freaking-air) because it can react to your imbalance or unwanted rotation momentum… {it’s like stabilization of a tumbling asteroid, so Elon can mine the fuck out of it, but less delusional than his Mars colony… whom will have no better transportation option (for both individuals and small cargo logistics)… monopolize local delivery across all platforms {okay, it’s a stretch but the self-driving/self-navigation robot/drones are far from being viable and the gyrowheel concept would be more profitable at every stage of its development when compared to other proposed delivery systems… {the military logistics applications alone are worth billions, but that’s point: scalability is unencumbered and the target audience becomes limited to everyone who has the capability to stand upright against a gentle breeze, whether your drunk or have Parkinson’s or are adog being transported to daycare. Hybrid “Gyros” EUCs will eliminate city congestion, eliminate parking scarcity, nearly eliminate accidents and the need for insurance or financial industry services… one more curious side effect if you’ve read this far… when an earthquake shakes the city, all operating Gyros can stabilize their riders while absorbing the regenerative energy provided by the motion of the earthquake itself! And 100% of it is existing technology already in service across several industries. Now, all we need to do is demand what’s already possible. Gyro Monowheels just might eliminate the need for school buses, escalators and valet parking… it could also solve help delay species extinction by freeing up both human and machines to focus on rebuilding as new Society out of the ashes of Western Civilizations collapse. {Sorry, the Gyro can not prevent WW3 but it will be essential infrastructure in its aftermath. Any future (without a Gyro) simply won’t be worthy of our existence. These demands are non-negotiable (which means that just like Artificial Intelligence, non-participation is Corporate suicide so we can expect an accelerating growth curve. {EUCs: the vehicle Revolution brought to us by the failure of Intellectual Property, the failure of Corporate finance capitalism, and the failure of the privatization of public transportation. Long live the Gyro-Revolution! … if we could just get it started. ❤

I love the S19, and i'll probably buy the 2nd batch to replace my 16x, if the plastics and build quality is solid enough. Kingsong usualy ships good quality products so I'm optimistic. Sure, the specs of the s19 are not as high as the s22, but I don't need that power and I want a wheel that is fairly light. I use my wheel mainly for daily urban travels in France.

@Wheel Good Time Example. You say the Commander Pro Max uses parts from the Master Pro and Commander Pro. And then you say the wheel won't be popular, so getting parts to fix the Max will be difficult. Why isn't 100 Volt enough for most people. I see videos of people jumping the Kingsong S18. So even 84 Volt should be enough for most people. 134 volt is great, but specifications do not tell the whole story. Veteran has proven multiple times, it can do more with less voltage and less wattage. Kingsong has proven they can do less with better specifications. Still love my S22, but it's got to go. I find it also very weird that you compare the Begode Extreme, a wheel for hardcore single track and big jumps, with a casual city-wheel, the S19. Patton is on the way. Begode Extreme will replace my S22 eventually.

I guess we'll see about the CPro Max - the motor/rim appear to be from the Master Pro with lots of other pieces taken from the CPro, but either way this wheel was already stated that it will not be mass produced and will be special order-only, so I don't see how this could possibly be a commercial success when the company isn't even committed to its success. The Sherman S is a very nice EUC that is well-made, but when you look at its price tag compared to the wheel's weight and the fact that the rest of the market is 126v+, it still lags behind in that aspect. It is sort of funny to think that just a few years ago, 100v was a huge, exciting development and now it's "old news". The s19 was compared to the Extreme because they are similarly priced, but the extreme packs in far more features than the S19, such as comparability with aftermarket pads. It's hard to give it a true comparable because there are no other modern 18" EUCs on the market, so I'd have to compare it to either a 20" like the S22 (or Master), or a 16" like the Extreme. Either way I just don't see how the price is justified on the S19 when comparing it to the competition's offerings. The S19 just seems lost - like they can't decide if they want it to be a jumper wheel or a city wheel. If it's a jumper/trail wheel, then they should have aftermarket pad-compatible sides to lock your foot in. If it's a city commuter, they should have increased it's top speed capability. Thanks for your feedback, my crystal ball 🔮 is broken so I can't tell what the future holds. I think you made a good decision going with the extreme and patton though. 🙂

@Wheel Good Time S19 is a city wheel. It has never been advertised as a jumper. The S19 has more features, like safety alarms, the ability to check a cell voltage etc. People seem to like rgb and a light equaliser. That is information you are withholding. People like those features. Why should the Commander Pro Max be a commercial success? The Ex wasn't a succes, the Hero wasn't a succes, the EX20s wasn't a succes. But these wheels were very important for the development of the Master range and the EX30.

Well, intresting video, but you are very wrong about the battery calculations. Nominal voltage of 100,8V wheels is not 100,8V that is the MAXIMUM voltage. This is a big lie of the EUC world. Nominal voltage of a single cell is 3,7V. So the nominal voltage of 24S battery is 88,8V, not 100,8V! Batteries for S19, V12, RS, they all are 24S 4P packs. Begode claims 1800Wh, Inmotion claims 1750Wh, KS 1776 Wh, but in fact it is the same battery but Inmotion is the most honest one. 20Ah x 88,8 V = 1776Wh in ideal world where batteries has nominal capacity. Long story short S19, V12, RS, Extreme, Master, S22 .. all these packs are 20Ah nominal.

interesting perspective - but I don't understand why we should use nominal voltage as our point of reference when we consistently charge to the maximum voltage? If we only charged to the nominal voltage, then we'd be stuck at around what our EUCs show as maybe 50% battery.

@@WheelGoodTime this is not a perspective, this is FACT. Look at electric scooters, all of them are using nominal voltage. Only EUC's are using maximum voltage, because 100V looks much better than 88V. Why is nominal voltage the number to use? Download datasheet of any Li-IOn cell ussually there is also procedure how the capacity is measured. They charge the cell to 4,2V (100%) and discharging it by constant current to 2,5V (0%). If this current is 5000 mA and take 1h to discharge the cell the capacity is measured as 5000 mAh. And the average voltage during this cycle is 3,7V (the discharge curve of the voltage is not linear) and yes it is 50% of charge. Interesting fact is also that higher discharge current you use the lower capacity you will get, because of the internal resistance of the cell (P = I2 . R) which will waste the energy. Anyway 4,2V is nonsense to use for any calculation because it drops inmediatelly while draining the current from the cell.

@@WheelGoodTime Commander pro max! I agree its a great wheel,looks awesome I disagree to all the negatives you said because It isnt released officialy, I think you shouldn't even open an eye to it and just ignore it because, begode lets you buy or orrder custom electric unicycles if you bulk buy(similar to rols Roy's just with no bulk buy) S19 I agree maybe the price is slightly high, but kingsong will be forced to lower it I disagree, thats its a piece of shit It's ment as a upgrade for the all an beloved s18, Everything about it is upgraded next to s18 .(reminder s18 was a great wheel because it was nimble had suspension and was fun to ride, minus was lack of power) Another fact is that kingsong is trying to save machine's because as in Electric Dreams review it was seen that it shares many parts similar to s22 Which is great unlike shermanS and patton haveing incompatible pedals. As I said i didn't and won't whach video till end, but assuming wheels in general, Is fine till you put it in a video which is gonna exist after the wheels are released. Im saying that there's gonna be new people in future that are gonna youtube search reviews on s19, extreme others and they find this negative vibe video, they gonna not buy it even if the wheel come out being the best out there.
