It aged perfectly, considering It was released during the mid digital era of animation, so It still looks pretty modern compared to anime of today. Younger viewers probably wouldn't even tell how old it is without looking it up.
@@sidneyrobinson18 That’s exactly how Hiroshi Imashi describes Gurren Lagann. It’s a show where Shinji Ikari had a mentor and more importantly, a friend that has an open feeling communicative relationship. it’s the manifestation of village raising a child proverb and even it’s only person doing that work. And Kamina is not reckless, he has strong emotional intelligence (a scale that can go toe-to-toe against Newtypes from Gundam and Doctor Who) and that’s not be underestimated.
You should watch both movies too, they're mostly a shorter version of the events in the anime but the boss fights change a lot, especially the final one against the Anti-Spirals.
@@user-pv4ht7zv4x I saw it in theaters!!! They brought both halves, the English and Japanese dubs, to theaters for a few days earlier this year and I was able to go see both the first and second iterations! As soon as I saw the ad I preordered both of my tickets. You are correct, it was absolutely insane.
Fuckin same man!!! It was also my first anime! And it’s still my number 1 favorite all because of kamina. When he tells Simon not to believe in himself, but to instead believe in the kamina that believes in him. It’s so powerful. Just for it switch up later. Ugh. Fuckin love gurren laggan
I literally learned to animate from watching Gurren Lagann. I’d done some animation before but just seeing how things moved in GL gave me so much inspiration to emulate it
Gurren Lagann was ahead of its time. For an anime made in 2012 it beast most anime made today in terms of animation. This what happens when teams ain't rushed
This is also the greatest punch in all of animation because it was the final and greatest punch from the gigga chad-iest of all gigga chads, even better knowing it was on the kid who couldn't help but be a whiny little bitch for 95% of the anime
Love your videos peg, sometimes it might feel extremely draining to put your heart and soul into making a video, only for it to underperform, but keep up the great work because your videos have genuinely inspired me
And then we have Dragonball punches that literally makes the opponent's body become rubber. I.e. when the punch hits the stomach you can literally see the shape of the fist coming out from the opponent's back
Out of all the anime the Gainax made, Gurren Laggan is the only one that got successful after they disbanded the studio and started working with Trigger
Kamina had me doing pushups mid episode icl this mf such a next-level motivator Brother genuinely had me getting ready for when I go to war against giant mechs being controlled by beastmen. Like, I actually had to pull myself back down to earth and remind myself that there are no beastmen oppressing us with giant robots💀 Dude made me think "yeah im gonna believe in myself and do whatever I want and nobody is gomna be able to stop me" like there was no law enforcement in my area I remember when I first watched this show, the one thing that stuck with me the most was "believe in the me that believes in you" and the way that sentence developed over time. 14 out of 5 stars character
This segment was interesting because it indicated that there was bone and matter making up resistance We see this a couple of time in this anime actually. Human beings occupy space and aren't the transparent disembodied spirits anime likes to portray us as We have mass, joints, cartilage etc. Then there's things like center of gravity, posture, incidence. Kamina hits Simon to remind him WHERE he is and not just to get his head in the game. This was intended to show all of us that there are several heads in cooperation here. It's not all just in Simon's head. Therefore it should be no trouble for Kamina to pull aside to handle this Although it caused him to let his gaurd doen for a moment. It think it mattered more to him to impart what he had to say here than to worry about stray bullets or what have you
