True story. It was to General George McClellan after he had the enemy cornered but wouldn't follow Lincoln's orders to attack. The resulting battle was a bloodbath when the battle Lincoln wanted would have likely been a quick and relatively easy victory. That whole debacle likely lengthened the entire war and led to many more battles and therefore, many unnecessary deaths.
