Just what does "62 Reissue Precision Bass" really mean, and why do I think mine is the best bass in the world? Watch to learn the story of this bass, along with info on Fender vintage series instruments and their features.

Greetings from Germany. I have the same bass in sunburst. Mine is from 1992 and is a great bass and now really vintage ...

Hello there! We have friends in Deutschland and a lot of family next door in Danmark. It's funny to think these are all now "Vintage copies of vintage instruments " imagine if Fender came out with a "1993 Reissue Precision Bass"

I have a 2017 AVRI '63 in Sonic Blue/Rosewood. There may be equal, but I can't imagine better.

The '62 had raised pole pieces for a 7.25in radius fretboard. Also, your '93 fretboard wood is Indian rosewood.

Bass looks great and sounds fantastic. A P Bass with flats is all you really need. It only took me 36 years of playing bass to figure that out. P Basses are versatile and can fit most any situation. I am not a slapper, so flats are golden to me (use them on my Hofner HCT 500/1 and Reverend ThunderGun). Your bass has the vintage vibe going on- nice and warm.

Thanks for commenting. I started using flats about 9 years ago and have them on all my basses, except for my Squier Affinity PJ Bass. Sometimes you just need that round wound sound, especially for heavy music. We are in the process of upgrading my daughter's cheap short scale bass and she asked me to put flats on it. After playing both flats and round wounds, she likes the feel of flats better.

Vintage is all well and good, but I'd still be wanting a jazz neck on that p body

I think the point of these reissue instruments is to give us something that is "Close" to a vintage feel and sound and swapping out the neck kinda defeats the purpouse. However, having said that, many people have modded actual vintage instruments, especially back in the day before they were vintage. Swapping out a Precision neck for a Jazz neck is fairly common. As long as you are happy with your instrument, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks about what you have done to it.

Very cool bass, sound way closer to a real 62 that the current versions.

Thanks for watching and commenting. I haven't tried one of the new "Vintage II Series" basses yet. It would be interesting to see a shoot out between the two.

Really nice Bass. Did you take the finger rest off or did it not come with it? Beautiful sounding.

I took the thumb rest and pickup cover off immediately when I bought it and have since lost it. I'm hoping to find all that stuff someday. I wouldn't have intentionally thrown it away, but I have moved 7 times in the last 30 years. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Really love the bass. Closest thing to it now at an affordable price is the Vintera II 60’s P Bass. I’m a newbie but when I step up that’s a consideration for me. @@rockoutvideography91

I can get the same sound with the cheapest Chinese p bass on the market and Seymour Duncan pick up. So if someone wants to pay 2000 $ for these numbers on the neck is free to pay...

I can't argue with your logic. I bought the bass when I was in my 20s and had some extra cash to finally buy a "Real Fender" bass. At the time a vintage reissue seemed like a great choice. I don't regret it at all. I love the bass, but the law of diminishing returns is always in play. Thanks for taking the time to to watch and share your opinion. It's greatly appreciated!

@@rockoutvideography91 I appreciate what Leo Fender had done.He invented P and J basses.I also don't like chinese way to steal "know how",but the way to fight it is not with unreal high prices of Fender instruments.If you compare Chinese basses and Fender the difference in quality is not as big as differences in prices ....

you know what the bottom line is, you can play a 100 dollar bass and make it sound good if your a good player. if your not, a 2000 dollar bass and a shitty player makes for shit sound
@rockoutvideography91
@rockoutvideography91 9 месяцев назад
You are absolutely correct. The quality of "Cheap basses" is amazing these days and at the end of the day, if you can't play well, or are not practicing regularly, your performance will suffer. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment!

it ain't a P bass

I'm not sure why you think it isn't a P Bass (Precision Bass) but I do really appreciate you taking the time to watch the video and comment. Perhaps you could add some more detail to your comment?

@@rockoutvideography91 sorry, I wasn't saying the bass you are playing isn't a P bass. The best bass in the world isn't a P bass, in my opinion. They are kind of a one trick pony, albeit they do that well. A jazz bass is more versatile. I play Spectors, so they get my vote.

The "Best Bass In The World" is whatever you think it is. I play and gig with a Squier Vintage Modified 70s Jazz and a Squier CV50s P Bass in addition to this one. I also like the Squier Affinity PJ we reviewed a few months ago. I brought it to practice a few weeks ago just because I was in the mood to play it. I'm into "Classic Fender Basses" as far as "Style" goes. Which is why I have a few Squire Basses. (See the logic?) This is for completely non-rational reasons. I just think they are cool. They are the original nostalgia fix, like Coca Cola. Thanks for responding and sharing your "Best Bass In The World"!

lol this just sounds like a buncha cope after blowing a bunch of money on a stupid old instrument. i'd take a squier contemporary 5 string P bass over this dusty old thing any time.

5 strings suck, but I agree, there’s no reason to spend so much money on an instrument

@@shugarbage how tf do 5 strings suck?
@shugarbage
@shugarbage 9 месяцев назад
I just find the 5th string completely unnecessary. I don't like the way it sounds, the muddy/boomy low end it adds to the mix, and the way it makes the neck wider and less comfortable/efficient to play@@aquarius5264

I bought it 30 years ago. I wanted a "Real Fender" and chose this one rather than an "American Standard Model" the law of diminishing returns certainly applies when buying an expensive American Fender Bass. I love my 3 Squier Basses, but I admit this one is my favorite and I do not regret buying it all those years ago.

@@rockoutvideography91 i'm just saying, high price ≠ good. there are far more versatile/well-built instruments out there
