The best batsman v bowler contest ever? 🤯 Steve Smith v Jofra Archer in the 2019 Ashes in full 🔥 Subscribe to Lord's: www.youtube.com... Web: www.lords.org Facebook: / homeofcricket Twitter: / homeofcricket
I have heard a lot of players say that archer runs very fast. It's his long legs which makes it seem effortless. Actually he gains a lot of momentum before releasing the ball.
@Vishal Singh Rao thing is not about fastest ball... it's consistency that I'm saying...bumrah regularly bowls at 135-140-145...and archer...near 150 every ball
he gave life to test cricket.... i still remember ASHES 2019 was way better than world cup and Smith just attract more fans to test cricket... after that there were some more great test matches and now people started to believe it it really the best format of game
@@rondabon6737 starc aur jhonson bhi batting karte the ,,, jhonson ne to 2015 semi main dhoya INDIA ko aur starc ne to debut main INDIA main 99 banaye the ,,
@@omen786171 yes, i think it too. What possibly be the reason that players used to bowl SIGNIFICANTLY faster than the the bowlers of our times, when we have better knowledge of various trainings to increase the speed of bowling? Absense of accurate speed measuring instruments is the reason of that hype. Cricket is more competitive now, and players are fitter and stronger.
@Charmineder not really very convinced with this, brother. There had always been bowlers who preferred lower speed with more control and players who just wanted to be fast. The present day is no exception and in fact zaheer khan has been a more effective bowler than shaun tait having 20kmph less speed. One day cricket is made more of a batsman dominated game for more viewership and that made bowlers look less fearsome. So some of them went for smart bowling aiming a better economy. But there has been a lot who never wanted to compromise with speed. Moreover cricket being a good source of income more and more talents are getting attracted. So there is no reason today's bowlers are less faster than before, although a percentage of them went for compromised speed to concede less runs.
@Charmineder that is true to some extent. Nowadays speed is not the best weapon in limited over formats. So bowlers don't take the risk of injury for a ball that's going to hit the boundary. Now coming to that competition.... Obviously bowlers will get all out to deliver the fastest ball for their pride. So, the balls bowled in a match were never that fast at all. Even players of these era are that fast. Starc crossed 160+ mark, watson says in psl there are 2 bowlers in every team who constantly bowls over 150. India has never produced the fastest of the bowlers, still there are a few who bowled deliveries over 150kmph multiple times. If there happens a competition like that now, i m pretty sure there will be more than 3-4 bowlers who will bowl over 160, considering everyone will go all out.
It's more exciting cuz the Aussies give the poms a run for their money...of course besides the brilliant crowd and the dukes swinging more Australia dominates hands down on their pitches...the others don't have a chance
There is a reason why Test Cricket is best. Evenly poised for a batter and bowler. No such thing as field restrictions and a flat pitch to score. It reminds me of the good old days, where a single run of a good delivery was much appreciated.
@Illiterate Mad swot of God Bro but on England's pitch, there is highest odi total. Hve u seen teams playing over JSCA, Eden gardens, Chepauk.. These are well balanced pitches I guess
@@SN-edits4u lol its because English atmosphere and crowd make cricket interesting. English mild weather is perfect for a test match. Indian weather is too harsh and no people come to watch the match, plus the atmosphere isn’t good
Ikr... many call me mad for watching literally every series played on the world even if its not India vs series.... test cricket at its best is simply outstanding!!! Sometimes I feel for not being born in an era of test cricket although t20 is nailbiting and fun too
@Parameshwaran R ikr.. just because of the poor ratings, the pitches have been made flatter and more batsmen friendly but jaddu ash know how to turn on such tracks too.... yes I accept the home leg was completely one sided, its not because the pitches are horrible, it's because the sena batsmen are horrible....
Yes, but the problem with that is his upper body is generating all the momentum, which means there's a lot of stress on his back and sides. He's going to end up picking up too many injuries
That one really scared the hell out of me..The delivery resembled the same that hit Philip Hughes and we lost someone that would have been a legend in today's time.... Thankfully Steve survived but the way he fell to the ground increased my heartbeats!
You know what I love about Steve Smith. Joe Root just had the greatest year of his career. Averaged 69 with the bat. Unbelievable from an Englishman. Steve Smith has averaged 69 since 2014 Ohh and Joffra never got him out
Honestly I don't think that either won. Yes Smith came back out to bat but that's not because he was in a good enough condition to, he is just a bit mad.
@@0forwarner-duck123 Smith literary made a double bloody century the next time he faced him. Its been well over a year and Archer still hasn't got him out, so Smith definitely won the battle champ
What a joke haha archer is an absolute minnow compared to people like thomson, shoaib and lee. The minute it flattens out he is useless, he got absolutely dealt to in New Zealand
Steve smith deserves to be the no 3 in all time XI of test cricket. This guy is unbelievable fighter and a class class player. Love him as a captain had the fortune to watch him live captain Australia and it was so absorbing ❤ love him as a player and what a fielder this guy is maybe only second to Jadeja
One of the biggest moment in test history when Smith was hit.Starting from Justin Langer,Warner, full Aussie squad to English physio team - everyone had a sudden shock.Especially after the departure of Phillip Hughes! Smith, such a great warrior fought hard after all this.
@@reikiriyama2321 don't say fraud to Kane, atleast he is the only captain in modern day who plays cricket in gentlemans spirit.Did he ever claimed that I'm better than Smith? If yes then your opinion is justified.
Actually this Lords pitch was not a fast one. It was up and down with uneven bounce, and that uneven bounce is what makes it hard to negotiate sometimes especially when facing bouncers at Archer's pace. Some deliveries bounce, some don't bounce much and just skid through. That causes indecision for the batsman.
I said this on many occasions but some indians never accept that..test cricket is just ashes..every session is exciting to watch..Ind Vs Aus good series but Ashes something else.
@@kanishka1169 why??? Neither countries have any competition at home. India players aren’t as entertaining as those in the ashes. Kohli, bumrah seem to carry the team nowadays.
Their should be a protection around neck🙏...that nasty blow...scared the hell out of me...for Steve.... felt a sigh of relief when he came back to bat....❤️🔥
Archer should never of been picked his attitude is terrible, he’s hit Steve smith exactly where Phil Hughes was hit and he didn’t even check if he was ok or even apologise. Even if he is a talented player he should not be representing his country.
That's shows the spirit of sportsmanship in him . He may be a great player within the 22 yard circle but somethings matter more than your game. It's unexpected from such a great bowler ☹️
You dumbasses before talking do some research and know about cricket Smith already told don’t come near me I can take it and even in normal cricket people interfering more makes the problems worst
Actually bowlers are told not to go near their victim by coaches and all so tht their bowling don’t get influenced by the scenario. Most bowler walks away in such condition.
@MAD BEATS don't have to say sorry for a bouncer that hits someone because its well within the rules, unlike a beamer which you should apologise for. He did go up and check if he was alright a bit later but thats not shown in these highlights.
@@IronShogun Yes, he must have been pissed off because last year he remained unbeaten on 99 in the IPL, so this would be very frustating for him as he missed a century from so close.
Wtf I really appreciate you guys because it's not even proven that Smith cheat he is just scrubing but it's not confirm that he is scrubing pant guards or his intention was different
You can watch sportstak episode where they were talking about this matter. If Smith was guilty he would be banned in that match and one thing you notice that no indian player talk about that even Rishab pant😒matlab social media pe aaya to maan loge
@@takaedzachirowodza601 Bro they did tamper the ball but the punishment for ball tampering they got was 1 test ban(1 year ban was given to them by cricket australia/their government pressurized CA). You probably are a wannabe cricket fan and dont know that even sachin, dravid, afridi, faf(twice) and many other players faced ball tampering punishments. It was just that aussie govt overhyped the situation. Dont you think it is ironic that only smith-warner and bancroft knew about the situation? Even the bowlers did not know? For gods sake they were the ones who had to use the shine so it is completely absurd to think smith/warner were the only ones at fault. The irony is if they were banned for one test none would have even remembered the incident like no one ever calls faf a cheat although he tampered the ball directly 2 times and smith did not even tamper the ball directly it may have been a suggestion of one of the 100s of people and he being the captain had to take all the fault for his team. When you call SMITH a cheat ask yourself once is dravid/faf/waqar are remembered as cheats? He sure did wrong but on top of that he was a victim of stupid aussie government who wanted to please the public at the cost of his career.(even warner's)
Jorfra is brilliant! A highly talented up and comer a future leader of England’s fast bowling unit I reckon can’t wait to see how his career unfolds...
I am happy that nothing serious was the end result. We all know what happened to the last batsman to be hit in similar area. At that pace it is impossible for the best batsmen, to get out the way of the ball.
