Thanks for sharing the results of your betta aggression experiment! That just scratched a curiosity itch I’ve had in my brain for a loooong time. My bettas have the expected level of aggression for their type. My half moon is a curious sweetie that lives in a 10 gallon community tank. My koi betta is like a starved shark in my 3 gallon, will attack anything and anyone. That tank has a Ramshorn snail infestation from one of my plants and the Betta hunts them down for sport, even after just being fed!
Great video! I’m glad you stated in the beginning that they shouldn’t be kept in the little bowls. My son has a mustard gas variety in a 6 gallon planted tank in his room and there is just a regular blue veil tail in the planted 20 gallon in my kitchen. When you keep a betta in a larger tank you get to see so much more of the animal’s “personality.” And, I think they look even more beautiful in a more natural environment. Less chance of them developing curled fins due to poor water quality, dropsy, etc….
In the exhibition poultry world we bred out a lot of wild/dominant genes while breeding for docility & temperament. So all chickens basically are recessive genes upon recessive genes that only exist in the population/trade. I have MGBs & Sebrights which rarely crow & never fight. I can see the same being done for Bettas. While improving the “Glowing” Betta line, might as well breed out aggression at the same time.
@ 5:54 mins. That is not a fighting Betta ( Betta Plakat ) that is a wild Betta Mahachaiensis.... @ 8:56 mins. Those are domesticated Bettas not wild ones.
