Full Review of the RL Allan Long Primer with comparasions to the Cambridge Concord, Humble Lamb Lion, Schuyler Canterbury, and TBS Westminster!!! #kjv #bibletranslation #books
When I was looking for a Bible last November, this one and the Cambridge turquoise was a toss up. I decided to get the turquoise because it had the translators to the reader in it. I’m of the mindset that all KJV’s should put that back in. Thomas Nelson refuses to and claims that it’s too difficult to read. I don’t need Thomas Nelson or any other publisher telling me what’s too difficult for me to read. I’ll buy from the publishers that include it and ignore the others.
Great review. So much about the Longprimer that I love. I'm even jazzed about the pilcrows they use. The 62 is a little bit bigger but not bad. BTW Bibles Direct has a scrumptious 62 in Petrol blue binding. Just saying... Tell your wife Christmas is right around the corner.😁
Ya, I have the 63.... sorry, but it is the most beautiful Bible you can get. Sure it would be nice to have some more stuff included in the Bible, the reference are not the clearest typeset.... but the over all look you simply can't beat.
That's a great question. I haven't got to look through it as much. I don't have one but have flipped through it at bookstores. Is it worth it to get it or do you have a questions about it?
@@PrentissYeates I honestly don't think I could give you an accurate answer on that I wish I could. I could maybe help more if I knew what are you exactly looking for in a study bible or what is most important to you?
@@BibleFanatics So far I have only ben able to find a list of 18 stolen verses. But as I slowly work through the epistles I find a lot of alterations. Some of it is insignificant. Some of it is twisting words around, but it is still there. but there are a great deal of words that seem to have been removed from passages, Words most people will not be aware of unless they compare the KJV to whatever "translation" they are using- which is a slow process.
@@BibleFanatics n this one as well. A known practice is to alter words or add comments about verses in all recent publications. Nor is it uncommon for different KJV publishers to alter text, especially over the name of God. Recently I encountered a chap who was claiming that only his Thompson Chain Reference had the name of God right. I pointed out to hm that editors make changes out of respect to The Name, but it doesn't make the other KJV publishers wrong. Now I see all these newer KJV bibles coming out boasting different aspects, such as First Mention, which alters text type to fit their narrative. Such changes can distract the reader from the Gospel message as they worry about a new doctrine. And here we are, talking about another KJV version that focuses on another concept.
Can someone please explain this to me? Is the longprimer kjv 1611 or not? I was about to buy a 62, but I cannot have a bible with changed words. What is CT?
I just found this channel and you seem to know a lot about Bibles. I am looking for help in finding a Bible. I am wanting a NKJV goatskin red letter full color study Bible. Do you happen to know where I could find one of these?
Your best bet is to look up Thomas Nelson NKJV study bible full color on christianbook.com. They will have different binding options for you to look at. The best option may be to buy a Leather soft edition and have it rebound in Goatskin if you can do that. Hope this helps!
That's really tough to be honest. There are different features to each one that make them unique. I love my lonprimer but the Canterbury is just as amazing. Is there something in particular you are looking for thatbi could compare?
@BibleFanatics Not really, just having a hard time deciding between the two. This will be my first premium KJV. I own multiple premium bibles in different translations, but I have decided that I believe the KJV to be the most accurate.
Bible fanatic. I take it you haven't seen the Thomas Nelson NKJV premier collection. The Cambridge topaz NKJV or the Schuyler quintel NKJV. They are all more beautiful than the longprimer.
Ehh, that is subjective at best. If you watched I did compare it to the Canterbury which has the same font as the quintel. The premier collection in any translation is not as good as the long primer. I have seen the NKJV premier collection. I can't speak for the topaz, but the 36gsm is nicer than the topaz's 28gsm paper. Plus the yapp and leather are worlds better than Cambridge Goatskin or Calfskin. You also get ruled notebook paper in the back which none of the editions you mentioned have. It has better helps in the back and more cross/chain references than all of those as well. Oh and has been around for close to 100 years. You don't publish a book that long unless it is one of the best. Now I will say as a side note. When I mean best bible I am talking among the King James. I like the NKJV but was not referencing it in the video hence all my comparisons where KJV. So I am glad you like your bibles that's good read and enjoy them. I like the Long Primer I will read and enjoy it.
@@BibleFanatics look at those Bible's that I mentioned, and you'll see that they are all more beautiful than the longprimer. The longprimer is so dated and hasn't moved on like the Bible's that I mentioned. You might prefer the longprimer type, but I love the others
@@alanhales6369 I think that is the appeal of the Long Primer though. You know what I am saying? When you hold it in your hands and I mean hold it and look at it you can't help but feel a connection to men like Spurgeon, Whitfield, Edward's. It has that old world feel to it that makes it a complete package and trust me the long primer has a lot newer font compared to other KJV typesetting. I am all in favor of updating the KJV font believe me. But to me that is the job of publishers like Nelson, and Holman. Yet they continously publish the KJV in older fonts. So I don't disagree with you I just believe that is the appeal of an Allan KJV they have been doing this since the 1800's and you feel that when you have one. I have seen most of those bibles you mentioned they are beautiful for sure.
@@BibleFanatics the longprimer is a very very good Bible if you like the look of the text block. I would certainly have one if it had a text block like the Bible's that I mentioned. I like collecting nice Bible's.
@@alanhales6369 I can agree for sure. Would love to see Allan do an updated KJV font with this cover. I do believe they do NKJV if you are interested although they run them in small batches so sometimes they run out.
