You’ve introduced me to some Planet Pleasures toys I’ve never seen before! My conure Leila loves the pineapple toy because of a foraging treat I create with it: I blend a veggie she often skips (like broccoli) and then stir in some bee pollen and a variety of tiny seeds (flax and millet usually) and then a mashed juicy fruit like blueberry or grape to create a sticky mash (not too mushy though) that adheres to the pineapple toy’s ridges and keeps my Leila busy for a while! Though it starts as a mash, which I’d avoid serving as is due to hormonal trigger risks, it ends up being more like little bits spread across the toy. She gets maybe a spoon or two per day
I personally love these toys, but the stringy bits have gotten caught around one of my green cheek’s legs and neck and (nothing serious happened) it scared me so much I never buy toys that are made of that stuff anymore.
Can certainly understand being worried after an experience like that, the one good thing about this material is it’s much less likely to cause harm and to break in those situations
@@TheParrotTeacher he hates getting back in his cage, so much so that he bites when I try to get him to step up. He is also like this with his cage during the day. I've always assumed it was a territorial thing
It could just be it’s more fun to be out than be in! He knows when it’s time to go in and he doesn’t want to go back! There’s a few ways to tackle it! Firstly make going back in worthwhile so every time he goes in he gets a reward now. Establish a perch on the inside door of the cage and reward him for just being on it or stepping onto it! Let him go in and out as an exercise 10 mins before. Also allow more time to go in! There’s a few options and many more things I could say but a bit much for a comment reply!
Hey bit of an unrelated question. It’s about windows. My conure always seems to fly into windows so I’ve had to cover all the windows which has been quite tiresome. Every time I let her out I cover all windows. How do I get her to not fly into them? I see some videos of people letting their birds fly in their house with the windows uncovered. Why don’t their birds fly into them if they think there’s nothing there?
Some are trained not to do so, others use stickers that help obscure the window and make it more obvious there’s an obstruction there not a clear flight path!
