Sooo i just read the maidens and i’ve just started finlay donovan (both after seeing you loving them!) - i’m just an hour into the audiobook but i already love it so much! The maindens - i was so hooked i read it in 2 days (would have been one if it hadn’t been for the christmas time with family haha). It didn’t end up loving it but it got me out of my reading slump finally so thank you Gabby so much!! And now you just filled my tbr for 2022 with this video, i can’t wait to get into all of these books! I hope i’ll love them as much as you do! And hopefully they’ll be nice distractions from all of the academic papers i have to read for my bachelor thesis!

I squealed when you pulled up Project Hail Mary! It also might be my #1-tied with The House in the Cerulean Sea and I’m rereading both right now to decide. Funniest book I’ve ever read and THE BEST audiobook ever, hands down. I’m so excited to see it on so many people’s favorites list!

The Four Winds was my top book this year. I listened to the audio and Julia Whelan was fabulous. The Push was quite the read too. I also liked The Dutch House narrated by Tom Hanks. Other favorites, Miracle Creek, The Five Wishes of Mr. Murray McBride, The Hearts Invisible Furies and Necessary Lies. It was a great year. Thanks for sharing your favorites and enthusiasm.

I completely agree with The Push! I really connected with Blythe in multiple ways as a mom myself. Definitely 5 stars! It’s between that one or It Ends With Us as my favorite read this year. 😊

I always get so excited to watch the best books of the year video!! I am definitely going to read The Push, The Four Winds and Finlay Donovan in 2022. They all sound absolutely wonderful. I've just finished Dead to Me and I loved it so much. I absolutely adored Project Hail Mary. It's my favourite science fiction book of all time now! ☺

This is probably my third time watching this video!😂 I just got back from a trip to the bookstore and I got four of the books on this list! I got Rock Paper Scissors, Razorblade Tears, People we meet on vacation, and Finlay Donovan is Killing it. I also recently bought In my dreams I hold a knife. Oh my…this is the first time watching your channel and your top books are also my top books…loved Project Hail Mary, listened in audible, and it was fantastic. I also read this because it was totally out of my comfort zone. Finlay Donovan is Killing It is my current read and I’m LOVING it as well. The Push was also so incredibly good. Wow…that last line!! For some reason I’m always reluctant to read historical fiction but when I read it I actually enjoy it. Yeeees Finlay Donovan! Cannot wait for the series of books. Also loved dial a for aunties and I really enjoyed the people we meet on vacation. I read animal farm this year and I really enjoyed it.

I got into Thrillers this year and have yet to find ones that are top tier like Lock Every Door, No Exit, or The Silent Patient. I want to check out The Winter People, Rock Paper Scissors, and Razorblade Tears soon for sure. Love this time of year cause of all the end of the year videos!!

That’s so cool a sci fi made your #1! If you want another sci fi rec I highly suggest Dare to Know by James Kennedy. It’s a sci fi thriller that blends magical realism in a way. I haven’t heard anyone on booktube talk about it at all but I absolutely loved it!

considering that "the charm offensive" by alison cochrun is ALSO in my top ten favorite reads of 2021 list (#3, specifically), it makes me happy knowing that it was you who got me into the book in the first place; i don't read much adult romance, or just romance in general, but the clear love & passion you have for this book as you were talking about it in one of your monthly wrap-ups made me want to give dev & charlie's story a shot...one of the best decisions i ever made this year knowing the personal connection i have to it now so thank you for never holding back from talking about it, it's genuinely a fantastic book that deserves more love 🧡

You are my #1 BookTuber! I love your enthusiasm and I’m a sucker for a good horror or thriller! Have you ever read early Dean Koontz or Anne Rice? They along with Stephen King were always my must reads. There are so many books from the 80’s to now that are so good. I agree with you that earlier writing styles (Pre 1970’s) are hard to digest. Maybe you could do a video of reading older popular books in your favorite genres.

Great video. Just put some of these in my TBR. The House in the Cerulean Sea was my favorite book this year. It was beautiful and the characters were hilarious. Winter People totally turned me on to Jennifer McMahon and I am now on my third book of hers. Billy Summers by Stephen King was also a big favorite.

Beth I so agree with The House by the Cerulean Sea was THE BEST and I really like horror but read this and smiled or laughed out loud and cried. I can never read a book twice but I know I will read this book again and I don’t like to buy books because I never re read a book but I am buying The Sea book and sharing with everyone.

Initially gave Project Hail Mary 4/5. But out of all the books I've read this year, this was the only one I kept going back to. I love re-reading so many of the scenes and the interactions are so funny and so clever. Absolutely loved it.

I’m stingy AF with 5 stars- but I gave “Four Winds” 5 stars. I haven’t seen it on many lists for 2021 best books but I was happy to see it on yours. It’s amazing.

I want to read all of these! My favorite book of the year was Good Neighbors by Sarah Langan. It's a suburban neighborhood thriller that's written in a literary (imo) way. I loved the writing, the characters seemed so real and human. The author comes off as super intelligent to me. For Your Own Good by Samantha Downing, and In My Dreams I Hold a Knife were also fun. I actually had a great reading year. I would just DNF anything I wasn't vibing with.

That's probably an honorable mention for me, The Push too I really wanna read A history of wild places but can't find it anywhere 😭 The Charm Offensive and Razorblade Tears are also v high on my tbr!! Finlay Donovan is also in my top 3 😍😍😍 every time I think of it it just makes me feel so warm & cozy inside!!

Oh! I want to read The Four Winds! I saw a wonderful Ken Burns documentary about the Dust Bowl that you might love. It was based largely on the NF book by Tim Egan called The Worst Hard Time. The subject is fascinating and his writing about that era is just beautiful. I have been underlining the heck out of it. So it might be a good companion book to The Four Winds if you want to learn more.

My favorite that I've noticed people haven't heard of much is Nicest Parts of Hell by Billy Ray Middleton Jr! My brother blasted through this book after I recommended it to him. It is a hard to describe one, but basically it is about an apocalypse that isn't center stage- it's more about each character's Nicest part of hell..and DAMN do they each have a background! Loved meeting them all. The end is left a bit open which left me excited too. Highly recommend!

From your top 15 I definitely loved Stolen Tongues, The Hunting Wives, and In My Dreams I Hold A Knife. Other books I LOVED this year would have to be For Your Own Good, Ace of Spades, and The End of Men by Christina Sweeney-Baird!

I also loved Near The Bone! I'm currently reading The Winter People. I recommend reading When We Believed in Mermaids by Barbara O'Neal since you enjoy books about sisters. I really enjoyed it.

Nothing has taken The Push from my top spot (yet). Bunny was my favorite horror, Under the Whispering Door for Fantasy, the Last House on Needless Street for Thriller, The Love Hypothesis for Romance, The Thirteenth Tale for Historical Fiction, and Will My Cat Eat My Eyeballs for Non-Fiction.

Project Hail Mary was also my favorite book of the year! It was such a shock because I don't read a lot of sci fi but I really had the best time with it and it was the only book that made me cry in 2021

There are some amazing books here! We have several similar ones, including the top two picks! Project Hail Mary is well out of my comfort zone as well, but DAMN was it amazing. @@hayleyboynton I use to do book of the month but discontinued because they don’t do horror monthly and that is my fav is the horror genre so I was getting books I really didn’t want, and then now I have books I won’t reread lol. But for anyone who just loves the other genres they do monthly, it’s the BEST deal for sure

Razorblade Tears was in my Top 6. And I also bawled at the end. And Project Hail Mary was also my #1. They better not screw up the movie! My other faves this year were Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown, The Golem and the Jinni by Helen Wecker, The Choice by Edith Eger, and The Light Through the Leaves by Glendy Vanderah.

My favorite books from the ones I've read this year (other than the ones you mentioned) are Forgive Me Leonard Peacock, Dark Matter, And Every Morning The Way Home Gets Longer and Longer, Behind Her Eyes, and Peter Pan. None of them are new books lol.

Hey Gabby this is totally unrelated but I was just watching your Reading Journal video from 2 years ago and in one of them you had a list of books you'd like to get to eventually and The Book Thief was at the very top.
