gabbyreads i am currently reading “Sharp Objects” by Gillian Flynn. I don’t know if you have read this book, but I think you might like it. It’s a weiiirrdd thriller(in my opinion)💕💕💕
Ugh I feel bad that you didn’t love Beach Reads, I know you’ve been talking about how excited you were for it. I’d love to see a beginners guide to horror and some books you might recommend for the faint of heart! I’m interested in trying out horror but I don’t even know where to start 🤷🏻♀️
Hi Gabby I lost my dad when I was 20 it is very very very hard also I just wanted to tell you I love your videos you're always honest and are taste is exactly the same thank you for taking the time to do these
I absolutely love the way you describe your feelings towards books. I can never sum up my feelings towards books accurately haha I’m now excited to try out some horror novels but probably not “the troupe” because I can’t deal with even thought of have having something under your skin.....🙈
Hi Gabby my dad died of cancer in my freshman year of college, it's been hard dealing with it but sometimes it actually feels comforting reading about characters with the same experiences, so I will definitely give dancing at the pity party a try
omg noooo i'm so sad that beach read was disappointing for you! i was planning to read it soon but omg i hate obnoxious main characters. that grady hendrix book sounds so good. you should pick up 'my best friend's exorcism' also by him and it has the same 90s vibes. great wrap up as always gabby!
leo reads thank you!! Yes I want to read more of Grady Hendrix! And you should still try Beach Read, I seem to be in the minority with my opinion hahah 😅
What a great reading month you had, Gabby. I went and checked to see how many I had read in April and it waa 11 which I’m pretty pleased with seeing as I’ve been struggling with my reading lately. Happy reading for the month of May 😊📚📚📚📚
My Dark Vanessa is on my TBR - I want to hear its nuanced take on that kind of relationship. interesting to hear you take on Beach Read - I've only heard amazing things so I'm curious how i'll feel about it
You had such an amazing reading month 😍 I also read In The Dream House and My Dark Vanessa this month and absolutely loved them! My next reads are The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires and The Troop, I borrowed them both as e-books on Overdrive!! When I will have more free time in June I will be able to invest my time in 11/22/63 🤓 Really looking forward to it and to some others you read like Bunny, Middlegame and Notes on a Nervous Planet!!
I love watching your videos and usually use them when I want something new to read! I dont watch a lot when I have school bc no time to read, but I'm super excited bc you have 11.22.63 in here. I read it this April, too, but for like the 4th time. It's a favorite. I'm intrigued to watch and see what you thought!
I finally read The Bromance Book Club books. The first was great and my fav of the month. The second was good. And Lyssa Kay Adams said on twitter today they are making a movie on Netflix.
Cannot wait to read the southern book club! I have it from Netgalley and haven't read a vampire book in so long! I quite enjoyed horrorstor so looking forward to reading more from him I've liked the small amount of graphic novel memoirs I've read but not sure I can read that dancing at my pity party one at the minute cause the grief is too fresh for me. My mum died last July from cancer and it was all so rapid and unexpected
I am so impressed. That is amazing reading 15 books. I am sorry to hear that Beach Reads wasn't as good as you thought. It did sounds intriguing. I love your thriller and horror recommendations.
New subscriber here. I love that you are young, but still read a lot of adult books, especially thrillers and horror. I am currently reading The Guest List (which was also my April BOTM pick) and I am really enjoying it. I have heard everyone rave about Beach Read - I'm glad to have heard a different perspective.
I read Middlegame this month too and I liked it so much more than I expected to! Definitely agree about the contemporary-ish parts and the ending did lose me a bit too, but I still really had a great time.
I just have to say something to you. In all sincerity. You make my day by just being you. I’m new to RU-vid and I love books so you were an easy person for me to gravitate to. I just want to say thank you for what you do for all of us to make our days better. You help people and I want you to know that. ❤️
I’m currently reading Valentine from BOTM and I just chose my books for May! My heart soared when I saw a Sue Monk Kidd book! She’s one of my FAVS!!!!!!! Gabby YOU NEED TO WATCH NEVER HAVE I EVER ON NETFLIX!!!! It’s soooo freaking cute and adorable I binged it you’d love the show!!! ❤️🥰
You should check his collab "In the tall grass" with his dad (Joe Hill and Stephen King) is really really short, less than a 100 pages. Hope you like it :)
I finished 3 books this month: Artemis by Andy Weir, The Circle by Dave Eggers, and a textbook called The History of Reading. Honestly, all three of these were 5 star books. It's a toss up between Artemis and The Circle for the best book I read this month.
Well now I have added like almost every single one of these books onto my tbr 😂😂😂😂 Awesome reading month!!!!!!! And my favorite book I read in April was Elantris by Brandon Sanderson! 😍
A clear plan for navigating from the present to the future is possible. Authors and their main characters often are directed toward a specific confrontation/resolution. Ordinary people, like me, find themselves hoping their preparations will be adequate for what happens next. Taking advantage of opportunity is a typical mistake.
God, I used to love Jennifer Weiner and have read almost all of her books! I just heard about this one the other day but hadn't heard anyone's reviews yet! Now I'm gonna give it a try!
You should read The Hunting Party by Lucy Foley if you haven't already. It sounds very similar to The Guest List so maybe classic perspective-shifting who dunnits is Lucy Foley's thing.
I love your videos and recommendations. I just finished Beach Read yesterday and also gave it a 3 star rating, it left me feeling meh as well and not at all the cute read I expected. I can't wait to get my hands on The Guest List by Lucy Foley
beach read was a big disappointment to me too...the characters really didn’t come alive to me, and all of January’s baggage didn’t come off as touching to me as much as it came off as annoying, considering how it was marketed
The boy and his ribbon by pepper winters - if you kinda love to read about strange/forbidden relationships. Reminded me all the ugly and wonderful things.
I am so surprised with the mixed reviews on the guest list! I read it and couldn’t stand how slow it was for the first ~240 pages. I really didn’t care about the characters and then the ending wrapped up in 20 pages. Just wasn’t a fan at all :/ really glad you liked it! Your recommendations always help me try new genres!
I don’t get how you can read 15 BOOKS??? I go crraazzzyyyy when I read at least 4-6 books (which is usually how many books I read in a month). But for some reason I get depression and my brain gets fuzzed up if I read a lot because I’m using a lot of my imagination. How do you read so many books and maintain a healthy wellbeing? :/ idk if that’s just me or...
no u 15 is an unusually high number for me, it was mainly due to the fact that I was in quarantine all month with nothing else to do, and honestly I kind of feel like reading helps with my mental health, reading helps me get out of my own head and get lost in a story for a while so I feel like now I need reading more than ever to escape for a while
Have you ever seen the small series adaptation for 11/22/63? I quite like it too! I don’t know if it ever could be as good as the book, but it’s very nicely done🙏
I struggled to read 30 books last year. Most were 400+ pgs with 1Q84 (the longest) being 1200 pgs. How do you read so many books? I wish I could read faster
I wondered about Beach Read because it almost seems predictable that a literary fiction writer would look down on the romance writer. Other than that it sounded like it could be a fun premise.
i'm stupid but don’t put yourself down over not reading much! Everyone’s been affected by this situation differently and even in normal times it’s totally okay to read at whatever pace you feel like☺️🥰
E Khan don’t put yourself down over not reading much! Everyone’s been affected by this situation differently and even in normal times it’s totally okay to read at whatever pace you feel like☺️🥰
@@em-im1jt Really? Well I just completed 180 pages and I am not liking it. I am 33 man. may be teen drama is not for me. But I love What Love by Jay Asher that book is so beautiful so amazing.
Hi- You should check out the controversy surrounding My Dark Vanessa (specifically its author) - I won’t spoil anything here but it may give you a more complex interpretation! X
My mom died of non hodgkin's lymphoma a type of cancer five years ago , she was 45. She was my best friend. It came on so fast. I couldn't read dancing at the pity party ....
I DNF'd Bunny. I may go back to it but I couldn't get over how the girls talked when they were together. I was listening to the audio book so maybe that's why, but I just wasn't interested in the collective or whatever it was.
I read 9 books, so yea finally getting over my reading slump. Favorite book was the house in the cerulean sea and then Crave by Tracy Wolfe. As well as the last 2 books in the infernal device's series by Cassandra Clare. My least favorite book was Pretty Girls by Karin Slathter. I know i probably spelled her name wrong. I gave that 1, 2.5 stars.
I hope you dont know what it is like to loose a parent or parents not until you 70. Get much time with them. That book may have been hard and hit you ... I just hope you keep not being able to imagine what it's like... I personally dont think I can read this book kinda hard for me. I know what it feels like. Maybe different time in my life I'll be able to read it.
I still say Middle game is one of my least favorite books ever. The way the author kept saying "just you wait their life would never be the same" was annoying.
@@gabbyreads Maybe a reading challenge? I see you joining a lot of other people's challenges.. but it may be fun where you hosted it? Since you like doing thrillers or something to get one to do something like you did with reading stephen king novels.. idk something along those lines? I know a lot of your viewers would join you!
That is so sad that Beach Read was a disappointment. I was looking forward to reading it, but that weird cult thing you mentioned made me not want to lol. I thought it would be lighthearted. 😐
