Happy New Year, Alice!! Wish you all the best in 2024 and lots of 5 star books 📚 Thank you for all your recomendations, my favourite 2023 book you have recommended was If we were villains ❤
I love how you've described these books that colored your 2023 so vividly. I was surprised that Earthlings was on it since it's so unlike anything I've ever read and I personally didn't like that book, but all the other books you mention are either ones I also love or ones that I'm very interested in. If you like the tongue-in-cheek Victorian type novel, I highly recommend The French Lieutenant's Woman by John Fowles. I also think you might like the London Seance Society and Shark Heart.
Thank you for another year of compelling book recommendations. 🙂 Top 3 Reads =========== 1. 'A Stroke of the Pen' by Sir Terry Pratchett 2. 'Infinitum' by Tim Fielder 3. 'The Adventure Zone: Here There Be Gerblins' by McElroy brothers Some other worthy mentions ======================== - 'RASL' by Jeff Smith - 'Sentient' by Jeff Lemire - 'Ascender' series by Jeff Lemire (recommend reading 'Descender' series first, to which this is the sequel) - 'Ruins' by Peter Kuper - 'After Lambana' by Eliza Victoria - 'Killing and Dying' by Adrian Tomine - 'Toil and Trouble' by Mairghread Scott - 'Daughters of Snow and Cinders' by Núria Tamarit All of these (save 'A Stroke of the Pen', which is a collection of charming short stories) are graphic novels. Hope you have a chance to check them out and some (if not all) find their way to be on your reading list for 2024. Wish you blessed year filled with delightful reads.
❤📚🎉 Great recommendations! I've added Everything I Never Told You to by tbr, thank you. Emily Wilde's Encyclopedia of Faeries was a five-star read for me this year. 😊
Just found your channel and planning to catch up on some of your old videos. My top 3 that I read in 2023 were The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak, Under the Whispering Door by TJ Klune, and Cloud Cuckoo Land by Anthony Doerr.
This was great! Thank you! I already have some of these bks. on my TBR, so it was good to hear you recommend them. Some of my fave bks. I read this year are: The Lighthouse Keepers Daughter by Hazel Gaynor ( love her writing) The Secret Life Of Flora Lea , and The Stolen Book Of Evelyn Aubrey. The most recent was Mr. Dickens And His Carol. HAPPY New YEAR🎉
Happy New Year! Emily Wilde and The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels trilogy was also on my top 14 list. Have you read the other 2? Loved the second book best I think. Really looking forward to India Holtons new book coming this summer, I think...If I only have to pick the best three of 2023, That would be The Snow Child ( so beautiful, sad, fantastic imagery and writing) The Dictionary of Lost Words ( such a fascinating and sad historical book about words, family and feminism) and The Book that Wouldn't Burn. Magical library, do I need to say more? I want to say more, but that would be too telling 😂 also loved Pride and Prejudice, A Fire Endless, Assasins Apprentice trilogy and Ship of Magic trilogy by Robin Hobb, The Reading List, Atlas the story of Pa Salt, A Day of Fallen Night, The Graveyard Book and a special award to The Hobbit ❤❤❤
@TheBookCastle then you have something to really look forward too. As I'm a Highly sensitive person I really felt bonded with her. 🥰 I've just made my very first bookvideo, going to put it on RU-vid. A bit nervous about that!
The hearts invisible furies: we read it as a group for family bookclub and everyone loved it! It was so far outside of our comfort zone as a pick, but it worked so well and really opened the door to more literary fiction and historical fiction books. Emily Wilde: OMG! So cute! So fun! I loved their personalities I loved the townsfolk. I loved the “oops. Kinda in danger cause… had to learn more at my own peril!” Situations they got into! Legends and lattes! Aaaah the lil rat hands baking sweets!! *melts* such a cute book!! Kindred: have you seen the series? It. Was. Devastating. I only watched the first episode! I was just too ptsd’d to continue on knowing what was coming for her!!! Such a hard but amazing read! ^all 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Great list! I loved Everything I Never Told You -- what a book! After I read it, I felt like I had to call up my son and apologize for everything I've ever done! The parents were just eroding the soul/joy/individuality of their kids, and they thought they were doing a good job. Ugh! That bit resonated with me, and that's just one theme; there's so much going on in that book. 💚 My favorite this year is Sleeping Giants by Rene Denfeld, which will be out in March. If you've never read her, her amazing debut, The Enchanted, is one of my very favorites ever. 💚 So glad I found your channel!
Happy New Year! Wishing you all the best in 2024. New Subscriber. Love the way you explain the books. Wonderful and I look forward to seeing more of your videos.
I’m so glad I found your channel this year. I come away from almost every video with books added to my want to read lists. I’m stingy with five stars also, but this year I had 10-12 five star reads and it amazes me. Two books were tied for favorite of the year for me, The Invisible Life of Addie Larue and If We Were Villains. Happy New Year! 🎆
