Cool as shit fanart for thumbnail done by JD Greed, found it here: www.artstation.com/jdgreed I'm Minos Prime's #1 fan The end screen is a little messed up but i wanted to play the whole motif so it was worth it
By any chance have you played Doom Eternal before playing ULTRAKILL? Because that might be the problem. If you are used to playing a normal video game like Doom, then playing ULTRAKILL in general is difficult. However, ULTRAKILL is not meant to be played like a normal fps game. You play as a vampiric Nikon that moves at Mach 4. In order to survive, you must be firing on all cylinders. Guns blazing. Getting up close and personal with your enemies. Also, play around in the sandbox. It helps to practice combos. Anyway, this game plays like how crack smells, but it goes harder than diamonds. I would strongly reccomend getting the full version if you can. It will be worth it, especially once development finishes. Edit: I'm sorry if my analogy at the beginning wasn't the best. The point I was trying to make is that trying to play it safe is unsustainable in a game like ultrakill.
@@connerredacted9432 Doesn't the demo not have sandbox mode? And if the demo was hard to no hit, just imagine the pain Shneepz went through no hitting P-2 lol
@@Goldend_ Firat of all, my reply was intended for @chancierbeet8915. I made the assumption that he stopped playing ultrakill because he was trying to avoid all damage (i.e. play it safe). But from what I understand (and personal experience), that's not the way ultrakill is meant to be played.
finally someone understands how good of a character minos is, i literally end up tearing up a little thinking of his story while *that one section* of order plays Minos is the only one i truly regret killing.
Technically... Even Sisyphus. So angry at what the heaven is doing, he took matters into his own hands, waging war against the impossible. He knew, that Heaven are bunch of fanatics, unable to be reasoned with... cant wait for Gabriel Prime.... the final showdown, the power that killed those two beasts...
@@RaskaTheFurry Sisyphus fully deserved what he had coming to him. He knew this. It's why he convinced the souls in the Greed layer to rebel against the armies of Heaven despite it being unwinnable and a death sentence, the dude just wanted to defy Heaven in any way he could.
Even after Sisyphus being out, Minos still have a special place in my heart. His speech and attacks simply lives rent free in my mind to this day and I haven’t played Ultrakill in a while. Minos truly feels a one of kind boss, difficult like many others, but unique in his own and only way
For me, learning Sisyphus Prime was so rewarding to master I remember learning you can basically parry everything and that's when it turned into a beautiful dance of countering, dodging, and feeling your heart pumping as WAR plays in your ears Best fight ever
ikr, the fact that you can borderline bear hug him the whole fight makes you feel like you're not this small little machine in comparison that wins solely off of wits and speed, but someone who's on par with this huge brute and you two are just going at it never had an fps game make me feel like this and i loved it.
so true, I missed the P-rank requirement for P-2 on Violent by 21 seconds and I actually just felt so down I didn't play the game for about a week@@bluedragonstudios7085
The Minos Prime - One the most perfect bosses in all FPS games history. When you just start fighting with him, you thinking "THATS IMPOSSIBILE". But after a 10 attemtps, you finnaly understand he actually warning what would be him next attack by saying something A after a more attempts, you finnaly understand how to beat him, and now its just time for practice I spent 131 attempts and 1.5 hour to beat him first time, i was fricking happy After a p ranking act 2, i come back to him, and on 5 attempt i P ranked him, i just feel how i become stronger, and how game now show me how i am strong. This boss is perfect. His music. His attacks. Even his history And we all know, the most main problem in Ultrakill world, its not dead humanity or Gabriel. Its V1. Its YOU
There isn't a single boss theme I've heard that can somehow cram the entire tragedy of the characters backstory into it. The Requiem leitmotif in Order hit like a truck the first time I actually got a chance to listen to the OST (without pain and suffering in the background)
I don’t find the requiem motif to be all that saddening, it feels more energetic, positive. Like the song that plays whenever the tragic hero of a story is finally victorious. Of course we know this to be false.
I would be lying if i say that P bosses are just difficult. They are BEAUTIFUL. The lore, the music, the struggles and progress you make, truly a tastefully made and forged game Ultrakill is; the song tells you tragic(King Minos) and also badass(Sisyphus) stories, the gameplay tells you that you can be better than this. This game is a perfection of it's own.
I hope you can give this amazing deep dive for Sisyphus next. Sisyphus absolutely builds off Minos. And the themes of absurdism in his story resonate within the entirety of Ultrakill's story and themes. I am EAGER to see how you tackle The Indomitable Spirit, Sisyphus
Personally i like how (unlike most videogame bosses) I never felt truly angry or frustrated against minos, every attempt I was getting better, and thats why I love ULTRAKILL, there’s practically no skill cap
I mainly love just how FUN it feels to fight him. At first, it seems crazy and ridiculous. Then, you start relying on parries and it becomes the most fitting use of the metaphor "dance" I have ever experienced. After beating Sisyphus, you come back and pretty much P-rank him in at maximum 10 tries, which left me feeling utterly astonished. Truly an amazing boss.
bro minos is such a good boss, there isn’t any tricks or bullshit like another health bar or the boss heals or smth, the boss just has insane strength and once you kill it it’s over
Out of all of the of the small youtubers I seen, you have got to be the one who most deserves recognition. Keep making good content, we will all be ready to watch it. (also I beat p-1 my first time in like 20-30 attempts he isn't that bad to beat more so that he is hard to master.)
i think hakita managed to strike basically the perfect balance with P-1. It took me ~70 attempts my first time, and I know people who took considerably longer. but we all still feel that “theres no way this is possible” at the beginning, and then miraculously overcome it.
Never have I ever got mad at a hard boss, the first time I saw Gabriel's second phase I woo'd in excitement because I knew it would be such a great fight (I was right). this game is everything I wanted in a game and I'm happy that I played it. and king Minos/Minos prime is simply the biggest most delicious cherry on a cake I have ever seen.
When the mid part of order starts, Minos knows he's already been bested, but he doesn't give up, he knows he'll lose, he KNOWS, he'll die. If you replay P-1 Enough times, you feel Minos' pain and suffering, beating him over, and, over, until you really start too feel what he had to go through, he lost everything, he lost his civilzation, THAT'S, what makes Minos one of the best, saddest, tragic, characters out of all.
Source: He yells *Useless!* when you respawn, telling himself that you will just come back I have a theory that prime souls DO remember your deaths but don't know exactly how which is why their attacks remain the same
Very good video! When I finally reached Minos' fight I was impressed at how difficult it was (even the flesh prison) but after I figured it out it was all just a matter of knowing his patterns
I am personally more of a Sisyphus Prime fan. While Minos certainly set the stage for his larger, yellow counterpart, I found Sisyphus to be a boss that truly tested my endurance and critical thinking. He had a bit of a poor release due to lack of playtesting, but after his buff? He is *the* most replayable fight in the game for me. Plus, he had some banger quotes.
i will absolutely agree that he is the most replay able fight probably ever made, but i like minos because i love the way his character is written, and the fact that he was first. gameplay wise, sisyphus is probably better.
@@yrowe I think Sisyphus was just robbed out of a proper buildup. Ofc he wouldn't get a main campaign fight, but I do wish he was at least given more detail in ACT 2. Possibly some mentioning in Wrath could've been neat as well, given the futile struggle of the souls drowning in Styx's waters.
I have ADHD and that one day, I drank 3 or 4 cups of coffee. I actually felt like flesh prison. All that aside, in terms of story it's Minos Prime (Fun fact: Minos actually got a microphage or whatever bacteria named after him because he's cool). If difficulty, yeah, it's Minos Prime. Don't know how to parry? Good luck on the first phase. No slab revolver? Good luck doing enough damage to him. Using slab marksman? You deserve Judgement in your face.
ultrakill perfectly masters the level skill level every passing time you play the game you get stronger but ultrakill did it PERFECTLY first time beating minos prime was like I cant do this its too hard impossible but in the last try as i got stronger all the P ranks the last try was like leveling up the skill got from you suck to extremely high level like leveing 50 level ups from 1 level in a rpg i felt it and so my friend who beat minos too you dont just beat it once you beat it forever everytime you try after you beat it once(unless you havent played for a long time) you can beat it in little tries (1 or 2) right after P-1 I P ranked it in little to no tries
As someone who isn't great at the game yet somehow made it to Minos, I'd like to say that "Die!" was the thing I feared most when fighting him since I wasn't familiar with his attacks.
When I went for a P-Rank (which I now have) for P-1, I always left one eye alive so I could get off as much damage as I could as well as making sure the Railgun was recharged so I could nuke the new set of eyes.
10;09 I think the song actually suits Minos more... I mean, he suffered all of that - unfair judgement, flesh prison, being tormented for unknown time... And then he gets killed by a piece of iron, failing to even help his kind.
7:39 This is almost how it feels to be hit by Ganondorf's down-air Also, when the game is finished, we all want an option to spare Minos. I hope the devs give us that option
yeah i didnt even know he could do that, but when i was filming that he did that combo and i was like holy shit smash bros also yes i want a minos prime playable character that would be so damn cool
Ultrakill does such an incredible job at having the player feel like they tangibly got better. My first minos prime run was on standard and took 90 attempts, literally a week later I p-ranked him on violent. In that week I didn’t get some new op weapon, or grind some stat to destroy him. All I did was merely practice, and enough practice makes you feel overpowered in this game.
its the only game that ive played where you aren’t limited by your arsenal, but your skill and creativity, which is why its so damn cool and satisfying
I absolutely get what you mean, I went from just barely beating him on standard to be able to beat him just by punching only in a couple of weeks, its an amazing feeling tbh
yes truly. after p-1 nothing could scare me now. but that. that thing. (p-2) it scares me. to the very last bone it freezes me as i remember the horrors it contained the pain and suffering i had to go through. no one or thing should ever experience that kind of pain
I love Minos Prime he's definitely my favorite boss in ULTRAKILL with Sisyphus Prime a close second. I love Minos Prime so much I P ranked P-1 only using my fist against Minos and just now I beat Minos Prime with force radiance on and then did it again fist only. God I love that boss so much
Something I find interesting, Minos Prime had formed into a prime soul the very instant he was freed from the flesh prison, but is still the hardest challenge in the entirety of act one. Sisyphus prime had been resting and gaining strength inside the Panopticon for god knows how long, but is only more challenging than Minos by a somewhat moderate difficulty. Id like to imagine how powerful Minos could be if he had any amount of time to gain strength.
Before seeing or watching this video. I've actually seen a video about speedrunners killing this boss.. Minos, in around a minute, complete with all S scores. And after watching this video, I have now understood just how hard it actually was to do make such an achievement, and how easy the speedrunners made it look like(especially to someone who hasn't played the game personally) to actually achieve such a thing.
i only died once to flesh prison and then died 71 times to minos prime, one of the best bosses i have ever fought. i’m so excited to edit and post the video of the fight
I solo'd ds3 and it's dlc, Devilgene nergigante solo'd. But this will prolly be my greatest gaming achievement the equivalent of the thank you screen in sonic heroes for getting an S rank in every level and doing the hard mode levels is getting your ass beat by an amazing boss.
