Jon. You are amazing. Great video as always. I got a Burberry briefcase several years ago. Returned it several days later as I realized it was quit pretentious and I didn’t like scratching my hand on the sharp zip every time I would reach in and grab something. 1st world problem of course. Looking for an old school unlabeled satchel now. Which smells of some good leather (sorry vegans) 😎
Hi Jon, I was noticing that the Faire briefcases are using only top grain leather, which is why I am balking at making a purchase at the moment. Would you be able to review the quality of their leather vs. the Satchel and Page? The leather on the Satchel and Page looks out of this world but functionally I like the way the Faire one is designed since it's sleeker.
I purchased the Hook & Albert from your previous video. I thought the interior storage would be a challenge but it's not all so bad. The quality of the bag itself was more than I expected. Very happy with it. It's a shame there really isn't any reviews of it.
Coming a little late to this, but I just wanted to put a comment here in case anyone else is doing research and thinking about getting a new bag. I don't know if they maybe used to be good and something changed, but my experience with Satchel & Page has been awful. I bought their Executive bag back in August, and despite what they claim on their website the laptop compartment isn't fully padded (there's no padding on the bottom, where your laptop constantly impacts every time you set it down), the leather is permanently water spotted after being in a light drizzle for less than a minute even though they claim the spots will be "absorbed" back in over time, and now, after six months of part-time use, the stitching that holds the interior pockets in place has started to come undone. For a $600 bag none of that is okay. They DO look pretty. This thing is lovely when it's just sitting there, but if you're reading this and are on the fence about whether to take the plunge I would highly encourage you to look elsewhere. There's nothing remotely quality, let alone "heirloom", about their bags at the moment. If you just want a super delicate bag that's pretty to look at, go ahead. But if you want something that's actually going to last you're better off saving your money or buying something else secondhand.
Both briefcases have same functions and both are sharp looking. Also similar price tag. The difference is; Satchel Port 3.0 is available only in one color. Faire briefcases have multiple colors and both in smooth or textured material.
Any chance you have tested the Von Baer city bag? I was considering this or the satchel and page but unsure. I noticed the satchel and page leather scratches pretty easily but love the smell and authentic feeling of it.
Any recommendation for a bag that can carry 2 laptops and toiletries for travel but for work I just need something that looks professional. There's a lot of backpacks but I need briefcase-style.
I have a ruitertassen satchel however I'm thinking about upgrading to either the ruitertassen briefcase or the Faire briefcase. Both are great but want a pick people's brains about this
What size briefcase do you recommend for most men about 6ft? If my laptops are 13" laptops, should I just get their smaller bags at 14.5" like the diplomat or should I get the counselor?
Should give ruitertassen a look they are pretty well priced at $200-250 with veg tan leather and several configurations regarding compartments and pocket layouts. Main downside is that the leather quality is unfinished on the inside and a bit stiff at first and it lacks many details of high end bags. From this roundup the faire leather bond briefcase seems most impressive at a very good price, I only wonder what the leather quality is like and longevity.
Why do you have to promote Apple products? Is Apple paying a fee? If so, you should say so in the beginning. Otherwise we are speaking of laptops not Macbooks. We are speaking of laptop chargers, not... Fact: 99% of productive computers in America are running Windows.
