I have so many of these (MD200, MD300, MD450). Every time I see them on sale for $179 or less I snatch another one up. Incredible quality, sound, and versatility for the price. I actually prefer the sound of the blade pickups on the MD200 to many much more expensive custom pickups I have. Unbelievable!
Amazing the quality of Mitchell guitars for the money. I bought one of these very heavily used for under 100 USD and could not believe how good it plays and sounds. I have the action so low, it's sick. At 199. it is a great buy.
Just ordered mine in Blue Denim. Thanks for your review!I like your flame maple, has a tan color other than the white like it shows on website, looks white like a zebra. That's why I ordered Blue denim.Hope mine is as nice as yours. They're going fast, now only have the red and citrus colors left!Better order them quick ya'll!Thanks again Joe!!!
Funny you mention the LTD comparison because that's EXACTLY what I was thinking when I got mine. I had never heard about the rumors you are talking about but I would say they are true! I've had mine for about 2 years now and it may be a slightly different model? I have string through instead of stopbar and the the binding is all flame wood. It also came with a tusq nut. Don't know if yours does or not. Either way, the guitar is WAY better than it oughta be for the price. Not many people believe me when I say it could easily be a gigging musicians main guitar if they are on a budget. No doubt in my mind. Its really that good. Enjoy! As always love the video...and you are spot on with your thoughts on the guitar.
If I’m not mistaken, virtually ALL guitars out of Vietnam are manufactured by IYV. I don’t know specifics, but I do know IYV has made a number of guitars for ESP/Ltd, Harley Benton, and AIO/Wolf, among others… I wouldn’t be surprised if they make guitars for the GC Mitchell brand, too. Given the inconsistency in guitars sold under IYV’s own brand-for example, the way some IJZ-300’s have a black back while others have a sunburst back, this makes me think that IYV is probably using reject pieces and secondary scraps to build the guitars they sell under their own brand at places like Amazon.
@@billimbriale8535 Indeed! Pretty safe bets that they’re all true, too. Among other things: IYV is the ONLY guitar manufacturer known to have a plant in Vietnam, so who else could be making guitars for these brands there? Just about ALL of the other OEM builders like Cor-Tek have their factories in Indonesia now.
Agree about the assumptions here, but in my personal experience quality has varied quite widely with IYV. I have a S-style of theirs that I love - but they also hold the distinction of being the only brand who has a fretboard *crack* on me.
I got one too! I love mine! It honestly looked like it had never been out of the box, despite being sold as a "restock"! The only issue I had was that the strings on mine were absolutely dead! The guitar sounded like it had flat wound strings on it!! (Even playing it unplugged) I did a quick string change and it sounds great!
Really like Mitchells, especially the higher end ones. I've had bad luck with buying pointy headstock guitars online, though - they seem to rarely make it to my door fully intact. Beautiful instrument, though.
Wow. Flamey McFlameface. Odd that the Widow Black Burst they show online is a charcoal and grey color but yours seems to be more of a charcoal and amber color. I like yours better than the color I'm looking at on the MF website. Impossible to know which I'd get if I bought one.
Laguna guitars and Mitchell both of which were GC store brands are very good, quality. I would say Laguna was better engineered unfortunately GC doesn’t promote their internal brands they like to bury them.
@@AJgeartalkI think with Firefly, AND with others like Squier, for that matter, it really depends on which plant your guitar comes from-Firefly uses at least 2 or 3 different factories in China to manufacture their guitars, and if you look carefully, they CLEARLY have different tooling and use different parts-for example, some of their Les Paul models have poker chips, no volute on the headstock, and have Schaller-style tuners, while others seem to have no poker chip, do have volutes on the headstock, have Grover-style tuners, and cost $30 more. I suspect those models are some of Firefly’s best ones. Likewise with the FFTL-some of the relic models have a curved neck heel, while others have a slant heel… Not to mention that the fretboard radius seems to be different on every model. Personally, I have found that some Firefly guitars are pretty mediocre, but some of the more recent ones are really incredible. I had an older Nashville-style FFTL model, and it was not particularly impressive-the frets were made of soft material, poorly leveled and poorly dressed, and the neck pocket was poorly cut. Then I got a newer FFTL with the SS frets, and it has been absolutely PHENOMENAL-it is a much better guitar all around.
As stated in the video, these are "re-stocks"- could be floor demos, returns or blems. Mine appeared "brand new". Reason for $199 price. Not sure where I "lost you"?
