The T600 is a great GPU, not just because it offers great performance for the price, but also because it's single-slot, low-profile. There is a serious lack of low-profile GPUs on the market. The T400 or T600 (or T1000) are pretty much your only choice for new GPUs that will fit in small form factor machines like the Dell Optiplex. And that's what we're going to be doing today! We're going to upgrade this old Optiplex 3020 and turn it into a gaming BEAST! How will this go? Well... I dunno... Let's find out!

The Radeon RX 6400 just dropped a few days ago. It’s supposed to have performance similar to the 1650 but with LP single slot design. Could be very interesting to see it head to head vs the t600.

Love these videos reusing these older Dell, hp, and lenovo pre-builts. I still run an old optiplex 7010 with an e3 1230v2 and an rx580 8gb as my main gaming system. It runs great and also I'm a cheapskate and can't bring myself to buy a replacement 🙃. Eventually I'll upgrade to an older Ryzen based system.

Hey TechDweeb love your videos. I have installed the T600 in my Optiplex 3060 and runs like a dream. In the Uk the GPU pricing was mental, getting better now, so managed to get an OEM T600 direct from Lenovo. Just a bit of info for users , I think the retail box comes with mini Display port adapters but the OEM version does not . Mini port to HDMI easy to buy online but frustrating if GPU arrives without and cannot use.

I have the same setup. Only with Optiplex 9020 (125€) and T600 (220€). I´m playing different games, but the games work perfectly, because you can use NVIDIA Experience for the drivers update, which is really time saving. I even have a better i5 in the build and it never gets that hot. It works great if you want to play on buget. Older games, emulation and even as seen some AAA games as Dweeb has shown ;) Enjoy

You have the same setup as me except I'm switching to a GTX1650 that my business bought me. It's coming today. I'm so excited! I've actually got two 9020's, so I'm gonna put the t600 in the second one. Now both machines can game.

@@tattoojunior106 but you will loose approx. 10% of your Performance, because you will have to use the other x8 Port (or x4 I don't know now exactly...

@@jurajadam5682 I’m not sure what you mean by x8 or x4 port. If you’re talking about the video card needing external power the 1650 doesn’t need any more power than the pci port supplies.

I think I have the best optiplex up and running now considering it's still running off the original 200 watt power supply. Optiplex 3080 sff. I5 9500, 16gb ram, nvidia t1000, 2tb nvme ssd, 8tb Samsung 870qvo ssd (installed in the pc).

Nicely done. im gonna keep a look out for this card if its going to cheap somewhere to replace my gt1030 with. I guess another way to manage temps would be to cap fps on games to 30fps. I had to do that with my gt 1030-optiplex build on skater xl before they made some updates. cpu used to get hammered on that game lol. cpu temps getting to like 77C- 80C in the optiplex when they were maxed out lol. i generally get the gt 1030 going up to 70C in my optiplex when at 100%.

I cap my fps on my living-room-pc to keep the temps down, mostly because I like it to be whisper quiet. The 1030 runs hotter than the T600 in my experience, I had both the passive and active cooled version and they always seemed to be on the warm side.

Thinking of getting the rx6400 for my hp g4 400, which had a 6th gen 6500 and 16gb memory and a ssd. However it also has a 12v 180w power supply and shit cooling compared to your box. I was thinking to Frankenstein some extra cooling by drilling large holes above the gpu with the possible addition of a fan, as it's kinda shoved in a corner in my case. The current card I installed is the k620 and it gets hot and works best with the lid removed. I know the rx6400 uses a little more power than the k620 and am concerned if the power supply will be enough for it to run. Currently stress testing with aoe2 definitive and surprised it handles a steady 50fps on ultra 1080 p. And the rx6400 is alot more capable and a very well engineered efficient card. Let me know your thoughts. Very entertaining narratives. Nathan.

Yes bro motion blur is underrated i turn setting to as high as possible in game to achive at least 30 fps and turn on motion blur no problem playing with a controller i mostly play single player games only

What driver are you using for your T600? There seem to be a few different options from Nvidia, and I'm curious if one provides the best results for gaming, or they're all the same since it's not really a "gaming card". I still think this is the best overall SFF GPU due to size. The 1650 may be a little stronger, but the cooler is so big it doesn't fit in many SFF cases. EDIT: I didn't realize these old Optiplex's were still so cramped. If anyone is looking for a roomy SFF, check out the HP G2 SFF. It's a mansion compare to the Optiplex.

There are two drivers for the t600, the game ready driver or the studio driver. I have tested both and they both offer the same performance in gaming. The studio driver has more options for like desktop layouts and Nvidia surround, and the game ready driver has more 3D options for gaming obviously. But the performance in gaming is exactly the same in my tests. I suspect there would be some performance differences in productivity tasks but I haven't tested that yet.

I'm running cyberpunk @1080p medium settings (some options - high) + FSR ultra quality at around 40 fps in game. The ingame benchmark gives me 35fps avg. Similar optiplex but got a better CPU - Xeon 1230 v3 Btw, Elden Ring also runs pretty well (30 fps+) @1080p medium settings.

Yup. I actually bought a different SFF PC to use the RX 6400 on (Thinkcenter M91 w/ i5 2400), but the 6400 didn't work on it! The T400 did though. So I'm going to need to try a different PC, like this Optiplex. I'll figure it out and make a vid soon.

Hi, can you test nvidia Quadro t1000 8gb version, it just got listed in india, and there aren't any reviews for 8gb versions.

I don't think the T1000 is worth the price for a gaming GPU. It's about twice the price of the T600 and only offers about 20% more performance. The 8gb vram might be helpful in many games but I still don't think it would be a good value compared to other new gpus at that price point.

I have a 3020 as well. Is it possible to run gaming ram in this computer? I know that dells are very picky with Ram...

I've heard that about Dell's, but that hasn't been my experience. I've tinkered with 3 of these older Optiplex systems and I've been able to use any DDR3 that I've had. I haven't specifically tried gaming ram in them but I doubt it would be an issue, at least in these older Optiplex's.

Okay one question it may receive some criticism. Is ryzen 5700g good enough for streaming, and vrchat in desktop mode cuz well i think vrchat is gonna go huge dont know if its a sure thing but a feeling i want to know if it can handle vr titles if not on a vr headset atleast in desktop mode to render fast models of vrchat

For streaming, in a dedicated streaming machine, yes it would work fine. For gaming and streaming on the same machine? Probably not. I have no idea about vrchat, sorry! Maybe somebody else can answer that one for you.

Any good b550 motherboard would be ideal, but a good b450 would work fine too. I would advise staying away from the super cheap low end boards but I am guilty of cheaping out and buying a low end ASRock with a mail in rebate from time to time haha.

So, an optiplex sff and a t600 combine as well as a PPAP. I'd personally honestly go with an i7 4770 or 4790, they are more expensive, but in the end, they are more potent. We have power color rx 550 4GB low profile, single slot cards over here. They were available for about 110 euros recently, but today, only one retailer has it for about 180, which isn't exactly a good deal. If they reappear, it is a very interesting looking card.

Yeah the RX low profile cards are a decent choice. There was an RX 560 4gb on Amazon that was going for about the same price as the T600 even during the worst of the shortages over the past 2 years. It got poor reviews because of the loud fan on it but I ALMOST grabbed one just out of curiosity. Mind if I ask, what's a PPAP?

t600 is like gtx1650 by performance so there is really big diference from gt 1030 in performance and price.

No comparison, it falls in between GTX 1050ti and GTX 1650. More close to 1050ti or similar in many games.

I definitely don't think the value would be there. GT 1030s are way overpriced right now. They'd have to be found pretty cheap to offer a similar FPS per dollar as a T600.

It's probably not ideal. You'll be getting about 25% processor bottleneck on that setup. Maybe consider the T400 instead, that would be much less of a processor bottleneck.

We definitely didn't get the deals in U.S. on T600s. $250 USD most times I've looked. $185 CAD is pretty sweet on the nearly extinct sff gpu! Btw, yes to the drive cloning software tutorial

$185 usd (all my prices listed in vids are usd). Was exactly $231 CAD. It's only a good value if the prices of GTX 1650s are substantially more. The prices of 1650s are coming down, so depending on how low they get they'll be the better value. But they're not low-profile, single-slot, so yeah the T600 will be pretty much the only choice in builds like this.

I do have the similar cpu but optilex 7020(i7 4770) but in this cpu my gpu is around (89-92°C)....is there any way to fix....need a reply man plssss

The i7 runs hotter, so your whole system will run hotter. I would highly recommend undervolting the GPU to help with temps ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-R-ho10bVEgg.html Also throttling your fps will help the games not pull more resources than necessary.

If you install MSI afterburner it comes with a program called Riva Tuner, which you can use to set your maximum FPS.

@@TechDweeb cuz even if it its a t600 the quad core cpu with that low frequency ram giving above 60 fps in doom and playable performance in shadow of the tomb raider where hexa core cpus with 3200mhz ddr4 memory and t600 give same performance i was. Expecting some stuttering and screen cuts on high end games but wow t600 looks like i can use this gpu for my new build btw 5700g or t600 which is better price wise and performance wise its gonna be my first gaming and editing pc

The CPU bottleneck is definitely an issue in some games. I suspect that's the main reason Cyberpunk couldn't get a decent fps at over 720p. And it should be doing way better in CS:GO. But for the price, these old Optiplex systems are a pretty good value, even if it's not an ideal pairing.

@@TechDweeb make sense and good point i have a very very old dell office cpu from 2010 but i think its from 2008-09 its an old cpu with 2 gb ram and 2 core 2 or 4 threads i guess has intel hd graphics to play borderlands 2 at 30 fps at very very low settings before it gives error of low video memory i thought i could build everything new with only the case but that seems impossible i only use it for storing stuff now with its 5400rpm 500gb hard drive. Just movies and documents. I wish my dream of having a good enough pc becomes true soon. I do have a 7200u laptop but the single fan for cpu and 9400mx and the only bottom vent is impossible to perform than it should i m using everything for my masters cant build pc now or for next 4 years i hope by then builds become more price friendly btw t400 or t600 or 5700g for gaming and video editing overall?

T400 vs T600 vs 5700g? I'd probably go for the 5700g, personally, because it's a solid CPU as well which you will definitely need for video editing.

In my country even old optiplexes are over priced and when it comes to ram, even rebranded ddr3 ram is like 40 dollar . I think li-nude will solve all of these problems

Good question. It's a hard comparison to make because most gamers use SteamOS, so it's not an apples-to-apples comparison. My gut tells me that this would be the better performer, but I'm willing to change my mind. I'd love to get my hands on a steam deck but I can't justify the price just yet, and I kinda feel like it's a 1st gen hardware that will improve dramatically with the next revision so I might hold off.

That wouldn't fit in this machine. None of the 1650s I've seen are single-slot. Most of the newer sff OptiPlex machines are single-slot on the 16x PCIe connection.

Nah. It's a great workstation GPU, with good gaming performance, but it's WAY overpriced to use as a gaming GPU.

Yikes! Yeah the pricing seems to be all over the place for this GPU. I think that's because it's not a very popular GPU, so availability issues are causing weird pricing.

Possibly. That's a 2-slot gpu. Just make sure your PC has room for a 2-slot gpu, lots of SFF PCs like the newer Dell Optiplex's have the PCIe slot at the very bottom of the motherboard, making 2 slot gpus impossible.
