2.8Kg or 6lb 3oz for my LH Red Fat. Nice guitar, great value and very well put together. There's no heel joint on mine. Fretboard is a beautiful piece of tight grained ebony, cost savings are evident on the tailpiece, control knobs and strap buttons, tuners feel good and are stable. Set up wasn't great, intonation way off and truss rod adjustment was slack (4mm hex key required), so required some physical loading to correct the minor back bowing and bring the truss rod into play. Light corrosion on the strings, nothing worse than most new budget guitars. Frets just needed a polish, no other work. All in all a fun guitar with only minor issues.

I've got a couple Harley Benton guitars here, been loving on them! Best budget guitars out there, the 2 I have I got with HS cases and w/ shipping to the USA was a tad over $400 US! The Texas heat is shrinking the necks a little so I'll be getting them on the bench pretty soon for some refinement. But I'd take either to a gig tonight!

With the latest craze of people buying out all the SF300 pedals for the stoner/doom genre those pedals are probably going to cost just as much as you limited edition guitar before long! Love the colour and the single pickup design too. Stripped back to just the bare essentials of what you need and nothing more.

I can't understand why guys are calling the wiring in these and similar guitars "tidy" or "neat" or "clean" when there is 1/2 mile of superfluous wire jammed in there. I think it's sloppy, as well as lazy work. You're asking for noise when you do that. I'm really not a fan of the whole satin finish thing, so I'd probably get the blue one if they can be had. I see you like a Fender style sound from your P-90s. I have a 2019 Gibson SG jr. with stock electronics and I use it for fat juicy tones, although it can get Tele-ish with picking technique. Lots of tones to be had with the juniors for "feel" players. Great video, keep up the good work.

I think the humcancelling position (not coil tapped) is when the push/pull is in the UP position which activates the second coil, and when it's in the down position it's a standard p90....I found this out by putting the guitar close to the amp with the push pull in the UP position, it's fairly free of 60 cycle hum, in the down position,lots of hum ....so not hum cancelling, therefore a straight ahead P90

I bought one of these to fulfill by LP Junior craving. Love the color. Acquired this and another Harley Benton (LP Junior SC) at the same time. Both were listed as B stock. I can't find any issue with either. The savings helped offset some of the shipping charge. I find myself constantly picking this one up to play. I have smallish hands and this feels so nice. It seems that the Ferris/Benton Blue is sold out. I'm so glad I snagged one.

Beautiful guitar. I have a PRS McCarty with P90s and they scream!!! Love Harley Benton, I have a few PRS guitars and they’re awesome, I have a Harley Benton Custom 24 and while it’s not as good as the PRS stuff it is fantastic for the price. Better value per dollar spent.

I hope they are in stock when (if) the $ to Euro rate settles down. Between exchange rates and the shipping disaster created by the Chicom Flu. Thomann orders are on hold for me. Last one too 52 days to arrive in the US and the box was seriously trashed. Somehow the guitar was ok. Seems all those extra days of getting tossed around and ignored adds a bit of abuse to the shipping box. By the way here in the US that is very close to Carolina Blue... I am Ferris Blue da bu dee da bu da...

Rumor has it that is on the way some day... I think sales are down now since they stay in stock longer. My guess the exchange rate and shipping cost and transit time is hurting sales. Double rates for shipping and 52 days for delivery has me put off a bit. Boxes show up seriously trashed as well on the last 3 I ordered. The exchange rate and added shipping cost puts this guitar up about $100.00 from a few months ago. Not a good time to want one..

It’s not a thick neck or anywhere close to a 59 profile. I owned the cherry fat, neck wasn’t even close to most 50’s Gibson’s I’ve owned or own currently. It was a pretty average neck. Cool guitar, no complaints but I ended up giving it away

I have now measured the Roswell P90 in my HB DC Jr. ---- 5.46 Henrys at 1000Hz, 7.15Kohm DC resistance and 104pF self capacitance. For comparison a Gibson P90 from a 2005 SG Jr. --- 6.5 Henrys at 1000Hz, 8.3Kohm DC resistance and 135pF self capacitance. So yes the Roswell isn't wound quite as 'hot' although Jason Lollar does say that the original old P90s are brighter than many current P90s. The volume control on my guitar is a 500K linear! the tone control is a 500K 15% log law and the tone capacitor is a 22nF. I did find that the 'simple' plastic cover on my pickup does not fit very well - the tabs on either end of the pickup base plate protrude below the level of the underside of the plastic dog ears. The manufacturers of the guitar had to cut two shallow routes on either side of the main pickup route for those metal tabs to drop into. Unfortunately the plastic cover is glued to the top of the pickup bobbin so you can't swap the cover for a metal cover. I have shimmed my pickup up by 3mm and it sounds thicker.

@@TheGuitarGeek Sorry I should have specified I'm talking about the DC jr. in 'faded' blue. Hmm... on the DV247 web site they give the P90D spec. as 4.68H and 7.1K. The stacked version doesn't appear on the DV247 site or on the Roswell site. I think the Roswell pickups in the Thomann guitars are OEM specials.

@@BeesWaxMinder The Roswell web site seems to say the P90D is simply a P90 with a hotter wind, there is no tapping on the coil and if you buy a set hum cancellation is achieved with both pickups selected by one of the pickups being RWRP. The Thomann listing for the cherry FAT DC jnr says Pickup: Roswell P90D Stack STK4P Alnico-5 Dog Ear humbucker, Tone control with push/pull function for single coil/humbucker. So this is likely an OEM pickup not listed on the Roswell site and it isn't entirely clear whether that means a fatter humbucker tone, or actual hum cancellation. If it is a stacked hum cancelling pickup I would assumed that the two coils are wired in parallel. I really don't know without having an HB DC Jr with a switched Roswell P90D to look at. Series wiring is likely to be rather dark. In any case the pickup really needs shimming. The early Gibson guitars with dogear P90's had a custom moulded shim under the bridge pickup. Straight out of the box the guitar is acoustically quite bright and the pickup is quite a distance from the strings, increasing the brightness.

Videos show that it IS humcanceling AND sounds little different in either mode so it must be able to be put in Series too. If it’s in Series perhaps it won’t need shimming AND, un-shimmed, the Single Sound would be more stark & different from the Series if lower...?

The dark blue does look stunning, I don't know why they call it faded. You can see the wood grain through the finish. It is very dark, almost navy blue until you get a lot of light on it. So it kinda changes colour. And I don't find the neck is really skinny. The FAT necks must be huge.

I'm an SG guy from way back and have been playing a Dan Armstrong London guitar for a few years now too, so I guess I lean naturally towards a double-cutaway shape. I've never had an LP Jnr style guitar, but have always wanted one and - for whatever reason - I've had a yearning for a blue guitar for ages too. Add the very reasonable price point to the mix and this little beauty ticks a lot of boxes, so it would have been rude not to order one :-) I'm looking forward to playing it when it arrives.

I'm considering the MR modern with trem and locking tuners. The pick ups are voiced for humbucker and P90 coil split or visa versa which ever you prefer first.

Love it... most people use a box cutter or scissors. Not this guy... ONLY and AXE works best!! Gotto get me one of those for all future guitars I order. That way if the guitar is a piece of crap, the axe will come in handy to AXE the AXE!!

Can you tell me why you think the blue one is better? According to the website the only difference is supposed to be finish; the blue is gloss and the red is "open-pore". Pickups and electronics are supposed to be the same. Do you think that the blue was built with more care and attention?

Because new is better! Nah, the heel is a little slimmer so it’s easier to get up to the higher frets. Also, with the low price, some HB guitars are better than others and this prototype is better than the prototype doll for the red one. I can get the action lower for example

Hand axe, parcel tape, overkill... However the one that works for me is the DC-Junior in TV Yellow it looks cool and its even less expensive. (£177 UK price)

The Fretboard is NOT ebony on mine -maybe it’s only the ‘1st Gen’ types that are? The nut needs re-cutting but the bridge & tuners are nowhere near the problem other people are making them out to be IMHO

These HBs have come a long way!! Terrific sound and for that price it's primo!! But I have to ask, what is the orange double hornes (cut away) on the wall?? That is gorgeous!!!

I'd like to see a shootout video of this guitar (or the red) against the Prestige DC Coupe Ace that you reviewed earlier. They are both DC Junior inspired. The Prestige has a TV Jones pickup though and is a lot more money. One advantage I have with a Prestige is I live in the same town where they have they are based and have their showroom so who knows what sort of deal I could get on a demo or one-off or second.

I bought a red one back in may, and still waiting for delivery, it's in transit, the blue one sounds better,why? It didn't exactly make my day to hear that. I also bought a Sc Jr and I switched bridges to get lower action that the stock bridge could not get. It played great for a couple of days then it started fretting out on the first three frets on the d,b & e strings. I haven't had time to try to sort that out yet. The neck apparently adjusted to the climate here I guess. I'm going to gauge it all when I get time. These Jr's are my favorite type guitars and I really hope I don't get let down after the long wait. Ferris da WTF? Also the price went about 30 bucks from the day I ordered it to the day it was ready to ship.

@@CaptainjackSparrowUK I received two guitars ordered from Europe last month. Different days. Each time, I had to pay duty, but before I did, I opened the package in front of the delivery man. It was the same guy anyways. I had my camera ready, and I told him if there was any trace of transport damage, I would not accept the package. Fortunately, all was well. Obviously, the shipping from UPS is a lot more expensive than what Thomann charges.

Andy, how do you like the gloss finish on this one? it was one thing you wanted to change on the original DC-Jr. Is that adding to the brightness in comparison to the satin finish???? Now if Harley Benton could build a Steve Forster FAT DC-Jr model in Satin Yellow with tortoishell pickguard I'd buy that without doubt.
