@Emdalla After 20 games, man, these are good tips except a few that I don't understand 1) This is #1 the tip everyone should take away. They are better "you" at collecting gold since that ship is ignored by enemies. Now, I find myself killing that golden god accidently because it was either surrounded by mobs or nestled in the armpit of the bosses 2) I understand all of the suggestions except the gold refinery. It drops more gold as time passes so I've been saving it not popping until at least the golden god is dead or I am in a dearth of gold where I need more upgrades. What are your thoughts? 3) Do you mean timecubes because I think that's what you meant? The timecube shop I cannot agree 100% with. It seems that most of the upgrades are for weapons I am not interested in and I feel I can't help but banishing un-upgraded weapons like the katanas (which is great later, but not when I am barely surviving now).

@evilgibson I've found that banishing weapons you don't want is kind of just a waste of a time cube, as they won't show up anyway once you have the 4 weapons you do want. Also, once you have 4 weapons, the time cube shop is just a free 5 points in your weapon, and by far the fastest way to get your weapons to the super upgrades.

Why the change from bullet hell to bullet heaven? Or did Tom just misspeak at the beginning of the vid?

@@mstchmshrms9214 It's another name for the 'Survivorlike' genre made popular by Vampire Survivors. A bit like how Soulslike derives it's name from Demon's/Dark Souls/Bloodborne/Sekiro/Elden ring style of play (also sometimes people call the genre 'Soulsborne' for the same reason). It's a genre that is new enough that we don't have a concrete name for the genre. A bit like how 'Doom Clone' in the mid-90s got replaced by 'FPS' later on.

How can it be a waste of time if numbers go up? Numbers go up and lots of colors.

You are totally right! I test play a ton of these Survivor like games but don't make videos on the ones I don't like, a massive common problem with the 'bad' ones is having upgrades that feel like they don't do anything. +0.2% projectile speed... WOOOOW

Okay, but the abilities are all still pretty much reskins. There's always directional damage, AOE fields, homing shots, a spread attack, when theres guns theres always a high firing gun, a laser, etc. It's a good looking, refreshing reskin, yes. But still a reskin.

@@RamesGamesLC It's hard to change up "projectile what do damage" to be fair, but I was more-so referring to the objectives, the movement, the visuals, the map. It's all not quite what we're used to from clones. After playing it myself I came to realise it's a bit shallow, sadly.

That makes a lot of sense.

Reward dopemine loop. You see thing you want, you get it when you do good. Lots of shinies that make you feel good to collect because they feed right back into that loop.

It's basically the same mechanics as those super abusive mobile games, without the abusiveness.

Re: aim - sorta, except lasers consistently out-dps all my other weapons. They're not great for single or specific targets, though.

I feel that backseat gaming too lol. He had the upgrade to slow enemies in the lasers but banished the laser width that would keep them inside the laser for long maximizing it's effectiveness... also simply allowing it to hit more enemies

I know, right? He entirely limited himself to only using the same three weapons every run.

Well, one of the weapons is called laser. You, uh, click on it in the upgrade selection. And then you get a laser.

It got overhauled to be aimable when the character who uses it came out. (which I totally remember the name of)

@@Her_Imperious_Condescension I almost never aim stuff in this game, maybe that's why I never noticed hahaha
