📸 The Best Camera for Photography... Is always the one we have on us 📸
In todays video I talk about the most important piece of Camera Gear; the Camera itself.
We all seem to want the best and newest Gear that is available to us for Photography, when we need to remember that the Camera is only as good as the Photographer
Have Manufacturers gone beyond the needs of the user?

Love it walking round Ranscombe. I ran a trail marathon around there in 2014. Absolute madness, so much bloody climbing!

I think you have touched on a subject we all have had with camera gear, i come from the film days and it was quite the journey to learn the digital camera because of all the modern tech, great video Neil

Thank you 👍👍 - I think we all fall fowl to the "Do we really need it" when Technology advances.

Hi Neil, very thought provoking video, I think personally its all about making life easier, for example IBIS and IS in the lens isn't necessary however, if we stood side by side in a low light situation shooting a moving image and you had a old camera and I had the latest, I guarantee I would get my shot, quicker and a cleaner image because I have the tech behind me. I wouldn't need to set up my tripod and, I could lower my shutter without blur because of the stablisation, and this can be repeated across all the different types of tech in the newer cameras. That being said, I think its important to remember tech makes us lazy too, the more the tech does for us the less we need to do or understand about photography so not always a good thing. It deffently makes us better photographers learning what the tech is inside the camera and how to use a camera without the camera thinking for you. There has been many a time where I have had to override the inbuilt system to get an image. Sorry for the long comment, Great images as always mate.

Oh absolutely... You make some very good points, especially with that comparison Keith - Gear is certainly never a black and white answer, which annoyingly makes it a minefield when trying to decide what we should go out and buy

Exactly Neil, all the more reason to learn photography and know what your style is before investing in something that you may never need

Hi Neil hope you're well. Great video and images, you made some good points here, cameras manufacturers add some fantastic technology into cameras and then try and convince us we need it. Back in the day when I used film you didn't have the luxury of seeing the Image on the back of the camera, or being able to edit it when you arrived home, so you had to rely on your knowledge/memory and a fair amount of luck if you were shooting in difficult situations, and of course no fancy metering patterns on the camera, just centre weighted and maybe spot metering. I'll be controversial here and say its easier to get a good photography these days as the camera does all the thinking for you, of course this doesn't include the composition, you still need to have an eye for that. Just my thoughts. Best wishes stay safe Jon

No I quite agree with you there Jon... Good point about the Camera making it easier to grab the shot - I still intend to get into Film Photography one day, as it sounds both challenging and fun

Hi Neil. Hope you’re ok mate. Great video as always. Really enjoyed your photos. Camera are a mine field what to get. I struggle when I upgraded on what to buy that would suit my style off photography. Take care mate. Shawn

All good thanks myself mate - Hope you're doing well? I'm terrible when it comes to Technology, always worried that I'll be forking out 300+ for something inadequate to another product, so take ages to come to a decision - Having that problem at the moment, as thinking of upgrading my filming camera for these videos

@@neilstevensphotography I brought a canon G7X mark 2 for my videos. But one problem with that is no mic input. So tend now to use that camera if I am just out and about. Looking at a go pro 10. Pretty well priced now. But I carry on doing research what is best for me.

I tend to use a Wireless Mic anyway, and sync the two files up in Post rather than have anything connected... Aiming to look at the DJI Pocket 3 if I can afford it, but no where in stock!!
