The best camp stove / Fancee Feest

You can’t beat those stoves. I’ve been building them for years . They cost less than $2.00 to build. In my opinion they are a must have for anyone that spends time in the outdoors. Great review.

The reason i pick the Trangia over the FF is the fact that it has a sealable lid and i dont have to worry about measuring fuel or burning it all off; just snuff it out and put the lid back on. Its a bit 'heavier', but the trade off is worth it IMHO. Great video as usual. 👍

You are preaching to the choir. We do have two additional favorite alcohol stoves that we use in conjunction with some of the parts from our small wood gasifier. For most quick break stops, the DIY cat can stove does the trick. I have not seen Fancy Feast cat food during my twelve years of retirement in the Philippines. I am sure it must be sold in some shops or supermarkets here. We have successfully used 90-gram single-serving size cans from our favorite brand of tuna and a slightly shorter 85-gram can that contained liver paste. Both are steel. Recently we found a brand of what we believe is "skipjack" tuna, popular here in the canning industry. It is inexpensive and plentiful. That product comes in a taller but smaller diameter can with the same diameter as a tomato paste can, often used as the inside can. The fantastic part is the height works out to 1" above the bottom can's top edge. Perfect if that is the height you desire. All that is needed is to drill the vent hole and notch the bottom of the inner can to allow the fuel to flow out into the wick material. This is as close to an instant build as you will ever get. A bonus with these builds: the enamel on the tuna can is very durable, and lasts a long time. If you do not mind the graphics, no BBQ paint is needed. The brand of liver paste Beautiful Bride chose has a nice gold finish on the outside of the tin and the appearance is a lot like the Fancy Feast can.

Solid information as always. I have used my MSR XGK for 30 years and it has been super reliable, especially in winter. Bu this year I have been considering trying an alcohol stove for bike packing and canoeing during the warmer months. With this video I am now sold ! Used the mini atomic for a couple years but finally had enough of the little screw. Switched to the Fancee Feest and am sticking with it. Thanks for the video.

I used a folded Paper towel for a weekend= wick and it works just fine on my Fancy Feast stove. Saves even more money. Well folded multiple left over beer cans works well for a wind screen. Folds around the stove for storage.

I use alcohol stove under the tarp when hammocking, otherwise always live fire or gas canister stove. The problem I have is that I live in a windy place and the efficiency drops fast if the wind cannot be completely cancelled. But the benefits are many, depend on the situation. Thanks for another good video, I have been interested in that one.

Good video. I have a "mini atomic" alcohol stove. It is a good stove except the screw that one must remove to add fuel can be difficult in cold weather. Your comment about "no moving parts" was spot on. I have been hesitant to use it when cold out, but am inspired by you to give it a try.

Excellent video, you covered all the bases regarding this stove! I couldn't agree more on the Fancee Feest type stove as the best all around go-to alcohol stove.

Another excellent video. I use either my butane or twig stove. Mostly the butane. May start using my alcohol more. But when on trips i use my butane.

Awesome , I use the Ohuhu gasifier stove and love it , does every thing , cooks every thing from small cup to large caste iron cooking and grilling , so far great 4 season-er., mmm lots of ideas alcohol seems to burn to fast ...may be mines just old fuel..Keep the vids coming

Aaaaah and here's my favorite youtuber back for a new video! Your videos are just the most comprehensive and wise about camping. Oh! just a remark: it's amazing that you convert imperial units in metric units, but for liquids - and volumes, we use liters and for small bottles, milliliters or centiliters, not grams. :) Just like you don't use "ounces of water" but "fluid ounces". Liquids don't have the same density, but your bottle keeps the same volume, therefore what matters here is the size of the bottle. Nobody would measure liquids in grams. So when you say "8 ounce bottle = 226 g", as it's fluid ounces into milliliters, it's 236 ml (so 236 g of water and 198 g of fuel alcohol, but again, it wouldn't tell us anything). ;) For those who want the info: For water, 1 liter = 1 kilogram. Easy. For fuel alcohol, it's 1 liter = 810 to 840 grams.

Thanks for the video. It popped up in my feed. Now I finally know what to do with all the bottles of Heet my FIL left behind after he passed on. And I mean a lot of bottles. It sounds like they should last me a long time with an alcohol burning stove.

I’ve got a Trangia & I love it. A measuring cup from my kid’s liquid medicine fits right in the Trangia. I’ve got to make one of these cat-can stoves, too!

I like the Trangia better because I can simmer with it and use the lid to shut off the flame once I’m completed with cooking. I can also carry the fuel in it. It’s also part of my cooking set. All this does come at a higher weight though. Fancy feast I like the white box stove are great for boiling water 👍😉

Regardless of your stove preference, an alcohol stove is a good idea to carry as a backup.

I also prefer the alcohol stove. For years after the passing of my Svea 123, I was adrift in the sea of stoves. I have not tried the Fancee Feast but settled on alcohol stoves. Due to the prolonged drought here in the SW and very real danger of fire, I use the Trangia 27. A bit heavy for one person, but it has a very stable base which is a priority in my area.

Yep, call mine “Trusty Rusty” because the center can (tomato paste) gets a little rustier every year. About time to overhaul it and make it new again.

Love it! I recently started getting into winter camping and am really interested in using my alcohol stove more. Do you bring a white gas stove as well in subzero temps or is this all you normally bring?

I started using an alcohol mid last year. Love it. I mainly use the Minibull design elite pro. However, I did purchase a fancy first stove to try because you don’t have to eat until it blooms and I had an issue with it. I would put in the fuel but it would all (every drop) get soaked up by the carbon fiber and not lite. You did mention a break in period. Do you think it need broken in? I got one for my friend at the same time and his did the same. Great video!

When you purchase a "Fancy Feast"? Make one. Fancy Feast cat food...Purina in Europe...$2 €2 ... so light to carry and you have the satisfaction of having made your own.

I use Everclear so that i can drink my extra fuel.... It also works as a disinfectant. So 3 uses for the same item is a ultra light's dream.
