So for my American friends, a bit more to add about car boot sales. Here in the UK, garage sales are not common at all - people have very small houses and no land/garages most of the time and additionally estate sales are not a thing. If someone passes away either the family clear the property out or they get a house clearance company in - who generally charge for their service. Often the house clearance people then sell the things at the car boot sales - they are my fave kind of sellers as they usually are a bit cheaper as they want to shift the stuff much quicker and don’t have sentimental attachment to their stuff! They’ll often be at the boot sales week after week. This car boot didn’t seem as typical as they are in the rest of the UK as there seemed like a lot more dealers there, but also started at a very sociable time. A majority of sales start around 6:30am or thereabouts.

A house clearance company sounds as if it's the same thing as an estate sale that has a company handling it instead of the family.

@@andreaschmall5560 yeah, sort of. Except they literally just clear the house. No sales take place or anything like that. And obviously the estate makes no money from the possessions - it actually costs them to get rid. I used to work in social housing until recently, and I can tell you how sad it is to see antique and vintage furniture just thrown away.

Enjoyed this video and am glad to know about the Capital Car Boot sale. Was in London in April and went to the Battersea Sunday sale. Overall not many vintage sellers there that day, but there was one vendor, who said it was her first time to sell there. She honestly underpriced everything on her table but seemed thrilled to be getting what she was asking. I’m a vintage collector and reseller, so I am enjoying what I bought for a bit and will then get the items adopted out. I really enjoy your channel and appreciate the time and editing you put into making such professional videos.

When we were stationed in Germany I hung out at the fleamarkets buying things with my babysitting money allowance and summerhire jobs. I have so many English tins it is so funny. I have a huge tin and pewter collection too.

The set you were looking at in the red velvet lined case and wondering if it was silver or silver plate, is a spoon and pusher for infants to learn how to eat their first solid food, the spoon is held in one hand and the food is pushed into it; these sets were very often given as Christening gifts.

Medford, OR is the home of Harry & David. This sign was on their crate of Pears circa 1940s. They shipped everywhere. Very cool to see!

Really nice video. When my daughter and I went to London (2022) REALLY enjoyed the river cruise with champagne, hor d'oeuvers, open air, beautiful views and not that expensive. We are going to Dublin, Ireland and Edinburgh, Scotland at the end of March, so looking forward to your suggestions for packing items to return home. Thanks - that was fun.

Next time you're in London, I highly recommend the canal boat tours. We used Jason's Trips. I love water tours on vacation and can't believe I haven't cruised the Thames. These videos are making me SO want to return.

I always love your traveling episodes for the thrift but also the scenery and travel tips. I’ve been to London and it never dawned on me to book a Thames river cruise. It’s not as common as when you hear about the Seine River cruise in Paris. Can’t wait for the next episode!

Didn't make it to the boot sales after all. I did go to Sunbury Antiques market today. What a great market! It's huge. You have to go Laura, you will love it. I found some lovely cloisonne pieces. Wish I went earlier as it was raining and many vendors were packing up early. Can't wait for you Cotswold video.

Hi Laura, you were looking at a spoon and what you thought was perhaps something for oysters, what that is, is a spoon and what is called a pusher, at one time very popular as children's eating utensils before they graduated to a sharp pronged fork. Love your channel. Lesley, Victoria, BC. Canada.

In your travels I have seen so many gorgeous things that I would love a chance to purchase, however I believe your pricing has become unrelatable for the average viewer. I'm sure one person will not affect your channel but it is disappointing because you were always one of my very favorites and now I find myself not enjoying because anything I would love to purchase is nowhere near my price range. London car boots are more like flea markets than car boots outside of London, if you are ever near Essex then they have loads of massive boot sales at the weekends and throughout the week. Someone was asking when is best to go, mostly boot sales are held in the Summer due to the weather-this must have been filmed awhile ago as it’s freezing here currently 😂

Love these videos. That Smokey colored swung style vase you found towards the beginning of the video was not Viking-it’s actually a knock-off from Taiwan. People still like to collect them, but they are only worth $20-25. ❤
