Those security bolts that you wanted four of are only supposed to be used on one end of that tubular brace - the end that sandwiches the cat shield between the tubular brace and the body of the truck. See pics on the CR site.

This video was very helpful, especially when you reviewed the tools you used. This was not an easy install for a novice and I had to make several runs to the hardware store to get deep socket bits, etc.

Thanks for a very detailed video.... It made my installation soooo much easier :-).... I believe that the two special screws that come with the kit for each side should go together where the bar overlaps the shield, instead of putting one on each side of the bar. It makes sense, because this is the only area where the original screws are not long enough to grab sufficient thread.

With my 2024 trd pro, the cross bar bent side is hitting the protector plate so it’s very hard to screw in the bolts and security key bolts. Cross bar will not align flush with the plate and cross member. I noticed older 4Runner models cross bars align flush and flat with the plate on the key bolt side

That sounds frustrating and I don’t really know why that is. According to CaliRaised it should fit 2024. Any chance you hit and bent your cross bar slightly? I’m sure you tried bolting the key bolt side first. How about a temporary longer bolt to get everything aligned, then replace one bolt at a time? Hope you got it working!

I'm glad to have found your Chanel. The shield manufacture didn't suggest lock tight for the two SS torque type bolts? Also, would the manufacture supply extra SS bolts and a second key bit if requested?

I have not found a recommendation for Locktite, but I think some sort of Fluidfilm or anti seize compound is always good. I haven’t had any loosening of any of the bolts so far. Cali Raised LED sells security hardware separately for LED bars. Not sure if they are the same as the Cat Shield hardware. You could contact them to check. They’re a great company and I’m sure they could get you some extra bolts if needed. Thanks for watching! I really appreciate it!

I inquired about this, as my key bit twisted and broke apart when I was installing the first shield. They gave me an Amazon link to the key bit. It’s just a standard Torx T40H bit. $5 on Amazon.

Did you notice a rattle from the driver side catalytic converter resting against the driver shield? I dropped the shield down a bit...now no rattling noise.

No rattling on mine. Was that little rubber disc in place in yours? Sounds like you got it to stop rattling though.

@@sunroomstudios8487 yes…the rubber was placed on the shield and is still there but it doesn’t rest against the vehicle frame…its alignment or degree of bend is off…rendering useless.

Driver side one Its too close to cat and vibrates when I stop y any red light etc. Any tips to resolve this. Did I installed it correctly. Its a Trd Pro 2020

Make sure that little circular rubber bumper is not up side down and that all bolts are tightened and didn’t loosen with driving. Hope that helps, otherwise you can try contacting Cali Raised and they may have other recommendations. Mine is 2018 TRD OR so maybe there are subtle variations with fitment?

I had the same issue...I dropped the shield down a bit...now no rattling noise. The round rubber bumper was aligned incorrectly by Cali-Raised and rendered it no use. The metal shield was up against the body.

Great vid. Just finished my install and noticed the shield touches the cat on the driver's side. Do you have the same issue?

I actually didn’t notice that until you mentioned it. Yes, mine touches the catalytic converter on the driver side also, near the CR logo. It doesn’t look like it’s causing an issue with fitment though. I’m sure it gets super hot, another reason to not paint it! Thanks for watching!

I install mines and besides the shields touching the cat I also have vibration on that area when I stop you could hear it. Did you noticed that ?

I don’t have any vibration on mine. I guess I’d double check the rubber bumper is installed correctly (larger side up) and tighten all bolts again. Good luck!

Driver side right against the catalytic too... Same issue on my Taco before the updated design they released.. great customer service though

I worried a bit about that too, but this one had the most ventilation possible. I haven’t experienced or heard of any issues.

Does a skid plate cover the CC?

Some aftermarket skid plates partially cover the catalytic converters, and some design updates now have wings that improve coverage. You’d need to check specific brands and compare their coverage. I thought of skids instead of the shields but ultimately decided on keeping the factory skids and going with the shields due to price.

The long bolts are stamped “LE USA” which I’m fairly sure means Lake Erie Products, made in US. The yellow gold finish and 6 hash marks on the head implies Grade 8, which is the highest grade SAE bolt of tempered medium carbon alloy steel. Not cheap hardware, this is good stuff!
