Great video. I upgraded from a DAS6 Pro to the in2detailing DA12 and DA8. Both good machines. Along with my SPTA nano I thought I had the perfect set up. I used the DA8 and nano far more but got fed up with the cable. I sold all three machines and bought a Flex PXE 80. I now have the perfect machine for my needs.
@SuperchargedLlama
@SuperchargedLlama 3 месяца назад
I couldn't agree more there, the PXE80 is phenomenal, although I wouldn't do a whole car with one as it'll take ages. But for 3-1" work I don't think there's a better tool. You did the right thing 😀 in selling the other stuff.

Absolutely brilliant video, I have the Da8 as I had never used a polisher before and it seemed to have the best of both worlds for me and other newbies to the world of paint correction, I use the autobrite range of pads and compounds because I wanted to keep it simple so the pad colour matches the compound and I can't get it wrong. Those rupes pads look really good though. Thanks once again. 👍🏻

You're very welcome. Similarly to autobrite, the Rupes pads match their polishes (as do Koch Chemie and Zvizzer). It's really handy when a brand makes the pads AND the polishes.

Morning my darling ❤ Great video as always. I love my in2 polishers. Perfect for what i need. I’m on the look out for a forced rotation I have used a lot of these and love the opposite rotation especially being left handed It plays to my strengths in my personal opinion. Can’t wait for the rest. I agree with the DA8 it’s fantastic

Being someone who has only used a machine polisher 4 times, and only having the DAS6 Pro, I had to look up what forced rotation is 😂. Luckily, my paint is pretty decent and i only need a fine cut once or twice a year, so no need for another machine, i think 🤔. Cracking review, thanks. All the best.
@SuperchargedLlama

I used a DAS6PRO for years and it's absolutely satisfactory and capable. I definitely wouldn't change it for one of these, but I would buy a DA8 over it, if I was starting from that point. Does that make sense? I've got the DA15 and I'm looking forward to seeing how the cut varies between that and the Forced Rotation one, because that's the point of the longer throw big DA's, more cut for less effort, but you can only really use them on big panels, where as the Forced Rotation can, technically, be used everywhere.

@SuperchargedLlama
@SuperchargedLlama 27 дней назад
Fantastic question. There's now the DA9, this is replacing the DA8 and is marginally better in every way. It's not enough to warrant an upgrade from one to the other, but it definitely is worth buying the DA9 over the DA8 if you had neither. Interestingly the DA8 is being discontinued as Clean Your Car now sell it as the DAS6 PRO V2.

Moved from Porter & Cable 7424 with hex logic pads to DA8 with Lake Country and was shocked at how quickly the DA8 melted pads. Lake Country 5" yellow lasted about half a car with no more than around 2 mins continuous contact with light pressure. Will be trying other brands of pads, thicker with centre hole, before making my mind up on the DA8.
@SuperchargedLlama
@SuperchargedLlama Год назад
Ahhhh the good old PC! Those Hex pads aren't bad though are they? Always liked them. I can't comment on the LC pads in this case (their range is huge, I've got a green CCS pad I think, don't use it much but I can take it for a spin) - I'd definitely go with their HDO range for the forced rotation, but in all honesty the Rupes ones work so well. I guess they make them for their 15 & 21mm throw machines, so they're designed to work well with powerful machines? Could be worth a look if the LC pads get cooked.

What a great little video 👏👏. I've got the DAS6 Pro and for my first go at machine polishing I thought it is great, but I've got the problem of swapping the plates from 5" to 3" now I've got a car and not a van, and did think about getting another machine just for 3" pads. I got myself a late Christmas present and bought In2detailing's nano polisher, that little thing is amazing (imho) for small area's. More head scratching and more money to save 🤷🤷🤦🤦😂😂
@SuperchargedLlama
@SuperchargedLlama Год назад
I've got the nano to review too, I was having problems with it stalling though so I need to check with Imran to see if I'm setting it up right...the instructions aren't the best are they! I completely understand with regards to swapping plates. What I tend to do is do all the 5" work around a car first, then do the 3" stuff, rather than working a panel at a time. Although there are massive efficiencies to be gained by having two. I'd personally choose the da8 as I think it's actually a better 3" machine than the DA12.

Great polisher review, the forced rotation looks a cracking machine and I would have been tempted had I not got a full size Dewalt rotary and a mini Shinemate rotary which is an absolute dream to use. As well as a Dewalt cordless DA a 3" DA and a Flex Pxe which is a lovely machine.
@SuperchargedLlama
@SuperchargedLlama Год назад
I really need to lean the way of the rotary, mainly due to the massive reduction in vibration more than anything else, but I have to say, the level of control with the forced rotation was incredible, I've never managed that with a rotary (all technique I know)
@markmoore6264
@markmoore6264 Год назад
@Supercharged Llama Detailing I've used the 3M waffle type pads on the rotary and found them to be the best option, when I've used standard flat pads it's nowhere as easy to control. My 3M pads are getting a bit long in the tooth now so I've bought a couple of Shinemate waffle pads and some Dodo Juice pads which look like they maybe a good option as the 3M's are not the cheapest pads. My machine of choice would be the Shinemate mini rotary eveytime due to it's lack of vibration and it's lightness.
@SuperchargedLlama
@SuperchargedLlama Год назад
@@markmoore6264 I really like the look of all the shinemate machines, it'll be interesting to see what their pads are like in comparison for sure. Good insight as to which ones make life easier and which don't, thanks for that.

I had a DAS6 starting out, and stepped it up to a 15mm 5" and a 12mm 3", which had similar RPM range as the Rupes Bigfoot polishers I always felt should have gone for the Rupes duetto 12mm 5" and kept the das6 as a 3" :( the duetto was billed as the Rupes entry level polisher. The forced rotation was a half step in-between the rotary and the DA, as some rotary guys didn't like the pad stall with the DA, but I prefer the DA as it keeps me out of trouble on the body lines and is easier to handle
@SuperchargedLlama
@SuperchargedLlama Год назад
I'm with you there. Now that I've got these, I haven't touched the DAS6, the DA8 is far better than the Das6 at 3" work, and it's better than the DA12 for that too, so I use it on that job mostly, and the Forced Rotation everywhere else. I do like the easy nature of the DA15 though, that's really lovely to use, very smooth, but with both you do need a 3" pad. The DA8 I guess let's you do everything?
@gs_mick

Thank you for this! My new In2Detailing DA8 is waiting to be use since I got it at Christmas…🤦‍♀️😂 How easy did you find switching between 5” and 3” plates?
@SuperchargedLlama
@SuperchargedLlama Год назад
Ooooh lovely jubbly, you'll enjoy that. Swapping the backing plates is really easy, you just get the supplied spanner around the centre nut in between the shroud on the polisher and backing plate. Then you turn the backing plate, the spanner basically keeps the nut in place. Bit fiddly the first time you do it, but really easy after that.

For me I think it would be good to see a run down on polishing pads. Types, care and scenario, if that was to be something you’d be interested in creating of course. Liking the channel and content you post
@SuperchargedLlama
@SuperchargedLlama Год назад
I can definitely do something about that, I'm just not sure what way to go with the pads. A lot of it is personal preference, and a lot the depends on the paint you're working with. You can see here that I use the Rupes Yellow Foam and Scholl S20 Black, I take this is a my starting point on any paint and then work from there as it's effective on nearly every paint. I think there is a reason as to why no one else has really made that content already, it's bloody hard to do. What I can definitely show is the difference in cut with the same pad and polish across something like the DA8, DA15 and the Forced Rotation.

@@SuperchargedLlama can absolutely understand and appreciate it’s all subjective with far to many variables to account for if experienced yourself of course. Possibly a good starting point for most enthusiasts like myself if understanding those variables before tackling any correction or enhancing work. I myself am desperate to get out and refresh on polishing with my Argos special. Certainly will invest the most practice I get but for now, it’s a good starter considering it’s on my own car. That’s after switching the horrendously big backing plate to a 5”. I had originally watched the meguiars starter guide for techniques and carried on to purchase the pads, compound and polishes. Good results but reckon I’ll need to replace the pads that I have down to my own mistake of not storing them properly and fear they may be contaminated. Rupes yellow foam and scholl S20 black sounds like a good alternative. The family black Astra has fallen victim to back lane hedges unfortunately and it can be a real mind field when you start to look at possibly options. Thanks for the feedback also 👍🏼

morning i have a vw caddy van to polish soon i have flex pxe 80 but im also looking a good 5-6" polish would you recommend the force rotation as the main on it?
@SuperchargedLlama
@SuperchargedLlama 5 месяцев назад
Yes I would, VW commercial paint is pretty hard so the extra bite from the Forced Rotation is really valuable. You may have to two step if you've got really heavy swirling, but the Zvizzer medium cut and their medium thermo pad tends to finish down nicely on the VW commercial paint. What colour is your Caddy?

I have indeed, I have them all actually 😅 the DA15 does have it's uses for sure, I just find the FR is better for cutting and finishing quickly over different contoured surfaces. It's really good and a smooth machine btw, I just have a preference for the FR now, but on some cars it's not the right machine, so I use the DA15 then. The DA8 and the FR is probably the ultimate pairing I suspect, covers the 3" work and the tighter areas with a 5" pad.
