This cheese review video was a highly requested! Which is why I wanted to give a thorough breakdown of all the types of cheeses at the grocery store. We cover block cheese, sliced cheese, grated, feta, cottage, cream, vegan, mac & cheese, and more. The quality of the milk is the most important thing when buying cheese. If you can afford it, try to get grass-fed and/or organic cheese. The nutritional profile is way better for you and it's also better for the environment, the farmer, and the cows. The ingredients in cheese are very simple and pretty much the same across all brands, what makes the difference is how good the cheese-maker is and how good the dairy is. Check out more info down below ad let us know what grocery aisle we should hit next! Mad love Bobby...Dessi...and Art! XOXO

My favorite grass-fed cheeses:
Organic valley raw cheddar cheese
Maple hill raw grass-fed cheese
Aldi’s grass-fed cheddar
Kerrygold dubliner
Trader Joe's New Zealand cheddar slices & block
My other favorite cheese brands:
Organic valley...anything by them
Horizon organic slices & snacking cheese
Applegate organic or pasture raised slices
My favorite snacking cheese:
Organic valley string cheese
Horizon organic string cheese
Organic valley american singles
Natural valley goat or colby cheese stick(Whole Foods)
Plant based & Non-dairy cheese:
The only brand I like is Violife bc they don't have natural flavors, and it tastes and melts pretty good.
Cottage cheese brands I like:
Organic valley
Nancy's probiotic
Kalona supernatural
Good culture
Green valley(lactose free)
Cream cheese:
organic valley
Kite hill(dairy free) is by far the best vegan cream cheese I've tried.
Organic powdered cheeses on Amazon(can't find grass-fed):
White cheddar: amzn.to/32poW9D or amzn.to/2l5IoXE
The other ones have natural flavors or maltodextrin, so look out!
Best cheese to eat if your lactose intolerant:
Muenster: 0-1.1% lactose range
Camembert: 0-1.8% lactose range
Brie: 0-2% lactose range
Cheddar: 0-2.1% lactose range
Provolone: 0-2.1% lactose range
Gouda: 0-2.2% lactose range
Blue: 0-2.5% lactose range
Parmesan & Pecorino: 0-3.2% lactose range
Swiss: 0-3.4% lactose range

I like what you said about full fat dairy. At the Senior Center in Huntington NY they hand us 2% milk. Several times I’ve told them we should not be drinking this… we should have full fat milk. Their response was the county dietary rules restrict them from selling full fat milk! What kind of insanity is this?? Who makes these unacceptable rules??

I was raised on unpasteurized milk and cheese (I'm Irish, my grandparents were farmers, plenty of grassfed cows and free milk because of that). I developed a serious case of lactose intolerance because of it - before the age of two. Raw milk is far stronger and creamier than pasteurized milk. It's delicious but a word of warning: sometimes it's pasteurized for a reason and unpasteurized milk and dairy may not suitable for everyone.
@VickiTakacs.
@VickiTakacs. 5 лет назад
Mel I am finding out that wheat and peanut butter affects everyone negatively but most just don't know it yet. So it doesn't surprise me about dairy. That being said, it's pasteurized to kill any health benefits and is why they add synthetic vit D. All of our food has been messed with and it isn't done for our benefit.

@@VickiTakacs. hey there, it's pasteurized so that we don't get salmonella, e.coli, campylobacteria, etc. Not everything is a big conspiracy by big pharma. Unless you suck milk right from a cow's teats and have the digestive system and immunity of a calf, you may get sick from drinking unpasteurized milk, especially if it stays in the temperature danger zone for a long time. And another thing, calcium cannot be absorbed into the body to form into bones without the presence of vitamin d. And no, gluten and peanuts are not poison. Maybe only for the very tiny percentage of humans allergic to them, but not all.

Thanks for the video Bobby! Have been on a quest for the perfect, healthiest cheese. Any pasteurized dairy loses crucial nutrients and enzymes. Raw grass fed organic seems to be the best option, but very limited choices in the store. There seems to be a lot of labeling tricks on how you can claim "raw" dairy. According to USDA anything cooked below 161 degrees can be considered raw even though at that temp, it is sub-pasteurized. Hence companies like Organic Valley get away with calling their cheese "raw" when it really isn't. Was really disappointed to read about that. Best solution: Buy from trusted farmers, ask about their process, and/or make cheese yourself.

Aloha, Bobby! Thank you so much for making these videos. This is my second one. It’s so important to be proactive when it comes to the food we eat, and education is the first step. In your lunch meat video, as well as this one about cheese, you have really stressed the term ‘organic’. But just like what I’ve learned about marketing terms such as ‘organic’, consumers really need to dig deeper because these terms are minimally controlled by our government. For example, chicken product that is marketed as ‘free range’ only requires that chickens have the opportunity to step “outside” from their regular clustered-environment. As you mentioned about grass fed cheese, unless it states 100 percent grass fed, then the cows are only allowed to eat their naturally-designed food for a specific duration, which may equate to only one month or less. Therefore, I think it’s important for your viewers to be reminded of this fact, especially if you’ve touched on this subject in a previous video. Keep up the great work!

I use the channel to be educated on affordable organic products or healthy alternatives. If that means that, I can't afford a healthy option of a certain food, either I don't have that food at all or have it very rarely. Is it fair? No. But I value my health over my tastebuds. Nothing is essentially "cheaper" because you either pay for it in groceries or in hospital bills.

You also have to be aware of well known corps we grew up with that utilize HEK293 as a flavoring in their products. The problem with Walmart brand organic shredded cheese is that I has anti caking agent in it used to make it not stick together and also anti mold chemical or antibiotic ,a Mycin which some people are allergic too. Also if a Walmart product like their organic cheese say product is distributed by an American company it means the product is produced over seas like possibly China. All since Walmart was purchased by China in 2015. Walmart brand organic black beans has a man made sodium as an ingredient and it causes ulcerations of a consumers esophagus and stomach. Even their frozen veggies are made in China.

Thanks for the heads up. That's really creepy that Walmart is owned by the Chinese in the first place. And that their foods are fake is disgusting. I will not shop at walmart. Another thing to think about the Chinese have bought up a lot of our farmland. And own meat companies in this country as well, they are obviously trying to take over our country.😲🤕 I am glad GOD'S KINGDOM WILL COME SOON. (ISAIAH 9: 6 7,; Matthew 6:10) AND none of THE WORRIES ABOUT THE CHINESE TAKING OVER OUR COUNTRY will end up happening and I'll be happy for the reality of that.

Gerry Hamilton ... We get the Elevation peanut butter chocolate ones at Aldi. They have 280 calories, 10 g fat, 20 g of protein, 29 g carbs, 2 g fiber and so on. They have great ingredients and are extremely filling. A local dietician told us about them. ALDI has since won an award on these. They have another one that looks just like them so check the front to make sure it says 20 G protein. I think the other is only 12. They make a great meal replacement.

I'm so glad you said Babybel, and string cheese. Unfortunately when it comes to those of low income the organic is way too high on some things, plus people go from what they know. Most organic products get passed by.

Well to be honest 2%, it's worth it to get organic if you don't buy the other foods then you will have more money for organic products, they're more filling, they're more fulfilling. You will eat less and you will live longer. Find a grocery store like "Grocery Outlet" which has a huge organic aisle. And also organic products throughout the store. Including organic meats, organic chicken, organic dairy, organic eggs, organic bread, organic coffee and it's all approximately half the price of the regular stores. Sincerely Tammie 🙋🏼💞😇🎊💖🎉

That Organic Valley cottage cheese contains chitin from locusts. Green Valley organic lactose free is the only cottage cheese really healthy and Whole Foods stopped stocking it where I live because people just grab anything that says organic without reading label contents because it’s cheaper.

I've been buying Friendship cottage cheese because it's so simple in ingredients but it does have calcium dioxide and I don't know if it's grass fed. It's made in a small town in southern NY that has been in the cheese business for 150 years.

Does the rule about “full fat dairy” go across the board for all dairy products, like cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, etc? Thank you for explaining the many reasons *why* to aim for organic / Grassfed products.
@tamitatangoto5134
@tamitatangoto5134 Год назад
I can see that no one answered you back Noelle Peterson, so I thought I would say that I'm pretty sure the whole fat for yogurt and cottage cheese and all of that is an absolute yes. Because you are getting jipped when you buy low fat. And like Bobby said about whole fat milk that it is having more nutrients in it and we need that whole fat if we're going to have dairy products. Just saw your comment and thought somebody needed to say something to you. Hope you're doing well sincerely TAMMIE 🙋🏼

Each manufacturer will tend to favor specific rennets and milk. Rennets can be either animal based or vegetable based. Some cheeses may contain allergens because of rennets. Some cheap cheese is not even cheese. It is starch flavored like cheese. Dairy free cheese are often manufactured differently and may contain soy or soy based preservative and items that are not very healthy. Many contain palm oils. Daiya is dairy free and soy free. Soft cheeses contain high levels of whey.

I worked on a dairy farm when I was young back in the 1970s. The cows were in the pasture grazing all day but were also feed ground corn and hay to help supplement their massive appetite especially in the winter. They were also given Anti biotics to keep the herd healthy .They can get sick and spread disease just like people. It's not easy too have a 200 ,250 herd of milk cows without those things.

Hi Bobby, I love your videos. You have changed the way I eat. You have taken the guess work out of getting the right foods! I love the app 😍! Could you do an updated video on all things vegan. In previous videos you gave various products the thumb up. But now some of the same products that had a thumbs up are now thumbs down on the app. The app does not give many vegan options for cheese, eggs, etc... Please update for me 🙏🏾

The best cottage cheese I've ever had in my life is "Good Culture" it's in your lineup there but you didn't lift it up, it's the last one on the right. It has 6% milk fat it is the best texture the Best Taste it is the best cottage cheese I've had in many many years,.. in fact then I have ever tasted, it is superb! And that's the only one I buy now. You can get it at the co-op in a town close to you. Yes it's about $1.50 more expensive than the other cottage cheeses at the co-op, but it is well well worth it.👌🙂

I think it's important to mention that supporting a conventional dairy company that doesn't use cows treated with RBST is better than a company like KRAFT, that does. Cows that aren't treated with RBST get more breaks from being milked than cows that are treated with RBST. Of coarse organic and grass fed is better, but it is pricey. Even if people bought organic or grass fed dairy/products every other grocery trip, or sometimes, it's better than never buying them at all. Of coarse being vegan is the only way to not contribute to the unethical treatment of cows and chickens. Most ranchers take good care of their animals, but once those animals are sold to Big Agra, they are not in good hands anymore. Just saying.
