I've seen him praise many older cars -- "before the US car companies went in the toilet." I owned many pre-1996 GM cars. I never had a major problem and inexpensive for parts and repairs. They were good cars.

I ordered my 2001 C5 Coupe (non-06) 21 years ago. It has been my only car since then and I drive it every day as long as the weather is not bad. Looks and runs better than the day I bought it. If they still made a C5, I would buy a new one tomorrow!

Best part: Only 3100lbs and 50/50 weight distribution! One of the fastest-lapping production cars and Nurburgring lap times of its time.

My brother has a '68 'vette with a 427cid and had it rebuilt to get a higher horsepower without going extravagant. It had a little over 90,000 miles on the engine. The shop that did the job showed my brother that the engine has the original crosshatching from the factory. Not even a ridge at the top of the chambers.

Got an 2002 z06 5 years ago it has 33 thousand miles on it now. I went over board with a procharger and now has over 600 hp. I love this car, still gets 26 mpg till you step on it. What a hoot. It is a race car, I have got a great deal of pleasure smoking all the hemis running around.

The C5 was legit the COrvette's best look and overall Aesthetic appeal. The sportiest, cleanest looking corvette, before they became Ferraris, and got rid of the awesome rear glass hatch dome. Popups and all!

These older ones were actually real good cars. My Coworker's Mom got one new as a daily driver, back in the day, and she has 250,000 miles on it and no real problems.

Not on the same level as a corvette but similar in ways, I had a '00 LS1 camaro I bought used with about 80k on it and I drove the absolute snot out of it for another 80k. it never missed a beat. Put a few parts on it over that time but nothing unreasonable. Alternator, window motor, control arm bushing. Other than that brakes tires and oil changes. Probably the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned

That's not a trunk! Son & I took just my C6 Z51 to Road Atlanta to camp a couple of years ago for the "Mitty's" & got an ungodly amount of gear in the back. Large tent, pop-up, chairs, table, stove, cots, food, etc., etc. Part of a conversation heard from adjacent campers that night: Guy 1: "...all that stuff?" Guy 2:. "No, just the Corvette." Guy 1: ...long pause..."That's impressive!" Heard a conversation

@@Beast96GT C6 Z06 had a hand built 7 ltr variation, the LS7 with just over 500hp. Much different animal when it comes to the suspension tuning, body and weight reduction too. They were definitely hardcore

I own and love an old Mercedes Benz & yes I have agreed value, collector car insurance on it. I'm insured with Hagerty & let me tell you this is the best company to deal with + the people are caring car people like 👍 us. My policy was in effect for less than a year when I was rear-ended by a woman that wasn't paying attention. Hagerty took care of everything soup to nuts & I never had a complaint about anything. The price gouging has to stop. Its not only car makers, but essentially every business. By raising their prices and screwing the customers, eventually the business owners will put themselves out of business, because people don’t have enough money to buy whatever they’re selling. It wasn’t well thought out. Greed, the ultimate business killer.

@@bills6093 Gadgets are available for cars that are parked for long periods, especially winters (full time charger). Booster cables aren't ideal for such conditions, battery chargers would be more appropriate as a second option.

@@serge.l.1897 They aren't ideal but that's why they are in the back of that corvette. I live in an apartment complex and there is no option for me but booster cables for a second car that isn't driven much, or sits all winter. No electricity nearby and solar devices don't cut it.

A 2006 Lingenfelter twin turbo Corvette Z-06 did a standing mile, 0-236 mph and never got into 6th gear. Look it up on Y-T, it's amazing to watch. [Wink.] JMO.

My son now has the ‘03 Z06 I bought new. Now has 33k mikes. Looks brand new. We did break the rules and made some changes - it’s almost 500 hp to the wheels … with the right tires it’s awesome. He will never sell it.

They’re trying to kill the American motor industry and incentivizing EVs again. Stupid libs. Policies so good their mandatory. It’s pretty easy to see how every manufacturer switched game plans to EVs over night after the election. So has all the messaging from media sources. It’s getting old.

Why did you get a C5 Z06... I hate those models. They're ugly af. Should've gotten a C6 Z06 or Grand Sport. It actually has way over 400HP

C5 z06 is a great car, got a procharger on mine and eat c6 zo6's. Best looking in my opinion, smooth body looks and cost a lot less.

i have a 2004 z06 with 20,000 miles on it. Fun car, great engine LS6, Stock it will do low 12s high 11s quarter miles. Its light weight at just over 3000lbs , When the c5 z06 came out it was the fastest corvette ever made, even faster than the L88s.

I had that exact car 04' commemorative edition with a carbon fiber hood super light around 3100 lbs.. It only came in that color and rare.

As a member of emergency services, I find it concerning that they're producing emergency EVs, I highly doubt they're going to last as long as gasoline/diesel powered vehicles used in the same manner

Personally I liked the C4 Corvettes best. For some reason that I'm not sure I understand there seem to be a lot of Corvette enthusiasts that really despise the C4. From what we've seen so far those were a lot more reliable and easier to work on than the C8 has been.

If I were a builder I would definitely consider the Ford all electric pickup. Use it all day then charge it overnight at home. Kudos to Ford for pushing automotive progress. Ford and Tesla are two different business models.

I will get a Z06 soon when I retire , HOWEVER you DIDNT MENTION the infamous problem with the vettes that DESTROY TORQUE TUBES, aka drive shafts...I wish Chevy would actually fix that problem...

I bought a 1990 ZR-1 three years ago, 74k miles. It had been sitting for several years, after getting her going, I put tags on her in May 2020, have driven over 7k miles so far and plan on many more, no garage queen here. She is a blast to drive and the LT5 runs and sounds great. Cool ride. 👍👍🏁🏁

I had own and c4,c5 and c6. I sold my c6 two weeks ago and I miss it soo much😭😭😭. But next goal is a c7 and c8. Hope in a couple years I'll get to drive them beautiful cars.

I rmmbr jeremy clarkson pissing on this car in topgear. The early20s me laughed WITH him in agreement,,, fast forward 10 years and the 31 year old me is now laughing AT him, the utter buffoon. An equivalent german of similar setup n horsepower at that time wudve probably been twice as expensive and definitely twice as fussy. NA V8 pumping out 400hp, relatively cheap to buy n maintain, 2 seater roadster, engine infront, power to the back. No nonsense vehicle. They really dont make them like they used to anymore, and its sad that the term “make them like they used to” was about cars that were made barely 10-15 years ago.
