Sometimes hard work doesn’t pay you have to back it up with smartness🤓, I think your cousin understood that perfectly

Hi, I saw you did a masters at Temple University to improve your application. Can you tell us which masters program you did at Temple? There are alot, and your story is inspiring .

I did a post- baccalaureate program, not a masters degree! This is a certicate program specifically aim towards dental students. I am glad you find it helpful :)

is calculus needed for dental schools most dental schools dont mention on their website they just say stats
@robertzhouDDS
@robertzhouDDS 2 года назад
Hey Gabrielle! It depends on each school, but generally speaking, many schools do require some calculus. Either two-semester worth of calculus or often times I have seen one semester of calculus and either one semester of statistics or calculus II. Hope this answered your questions!

Hey! I’m thinking about going to community then transferring to finish for my masters… do you think biology would be a good thing to go into after doing general science at bmcc ?
@KkVenus_
@KkVenus_ Год назад
also would you say being a pediatric dentist is worth it? I’m stuck between Pediatric doctor or dentist… I know it’s a lot of hard work but if it’s worth it I’ll really do my best

Hey Khadija, thanks for the comment. I am not sure how to transfer school for a master program, I only transferred for a bachelors degree. If you are applying to U.S schools any degree works as long as you fulfill the program prerequisite science and math classes, and do well in them! As for your other question- I think it really depends on what you like. Peds is a rewarding speciality but you would also need to perform well in dental school -as with any speciality really. I would shadow a couple of pediatric dentist to see if this is what you really want to do!

What about perceptual ability? What classes could help prepare for that?
@robertzhouDDS
@robertzhouDDS 3 года назад
Hey Ana! While I would say there isn't one particular class for it, I would recommend taking or learning art classes (sculpting, drawing, or jewelry making) as it could be very helpful in training your brain to see things in 3-dimensions. Although I did not take any art classes of any sort, I took the time to learn the common techniques and tricks for each section on the PAT. After you learn the techniques try them out and see what works the best for you- everyone will be different. Then it's merely just practice, practice, and practice until you can get them right with speed! Hope this was helpful! :)

How much do dentists make? What’s the best career to become very rich?
@robertzhouDDS
@robertzhouDDS Год назад
This question depends on multiple factors like experience, location, and specialty. Generally speaking, new dentist can make around 125-150k. However, like I said before it varies! While this career is very fulfilling, you are are looking to build wealth, there are plenty of other options you can explore. Dentistry is takes at least 6-8 years of education after high school and the education journey is very costly.

Is biochemistry bachelor useful to pass the DAT and get into dental school?
@robertzhouDDS
@robertzhouDDS 3 года назад
Hi Sari! While majoring in biochemistry will definitely help you on the chemistry section (inorganic and organic) there is actually not many questions that are specifically in biochemistry. I would say that, in general, if you have taken chemistry and organic chemistry and some general biology classes (cell and molecular biology, anatomy and physiology, and evolutionary biology and diversity..etc) you will do well on the survey of natural sciences section! Having a biochemistry major certainly won't hurt- just make sure you do well in your courses! Hope you found this useful! :)

Does Biology is a good undergraduate for dental school?
@samdarugari3792
@samdarugari3792 2 года назад
hello. I have only just checked out UCLA dental school and they noted that they don't accept transfer students and yet hold pre-dental programs for international students.I'm just wondering and a little confused, are these programs like colleges with 100% admission ? Note: Sorry for raising these type of questions it's just that I've never lived in the US let alone get through a university
@robertzhouDDS
@robertzhouDDS 2 года назад
Hi Sam- I'm not sure what you mean by "they don't accept transfer students". I know UCLA's undergraduate schools will accept transfer students, UCLA and the UC system is fantastic in taking in transfer students from CC's or other colleges. For their dental school, I wouldn't be surprised. I'd say MOST dental schools don't accept transfer students- people don't usually transfer to another dental school after their second or first year. Even those few schools that do, it is under very unusual circumstances. Now if you are a transfer student from Community College (CC) to a 4-year university, most dental schools will accepts those "transfer students" as long you meet the schools prerequisites. I think Tufts and Boston university dental schools are more particular in accepting transfer students. Pre-dental programs - like summer enrichment programs, post-baccs..etc- almost never guarantee admissions. There are some pre-dental programs that places you in an accelerated track which greatly increases your chances into admission to that particular school if you meet certain requirements -like GPA and DAT scores. Other those programs, nothing is really 100% admissions. Hope this helps!
@samdarugari3792
@samdarugari3792 2 года назад
@@robertzhouDDS Thanks for your thorough response Robert You clued me in on Premed programs when you mention post-baccalaureate since I thought as much. I know that UCLA takes Biology major transfer (prerequisite). But this is exactly what they say: '' The UCLA School of Dentistry does not accept transfer students. All applicants must be in possession of their dental degree when applying to the program. Students who have not completed their dental degree will need to apply to the 4-year D.D.S. program. " which doesn't make any sense, like why would anyone want to transfer to a UC when they hold a degree :)

Can you join dental school with out having your bachelors but just finishing all the pre-requirements?
@robertzhouDDS
@robertzhouDDS 3 года назад
Hey Arsema, hope you are well! While you certainly can apply to dental schools without a bachelor's degree, I would argue that the majority of accepted students have at least a bachelor's degree. Some even have master's degrees before entering dental school. While it is not unheard of, I believe dental schools would probably like their students to have completed at least a bachelor's during undergrad. Hope this answers your question!
