Fun fact: Frankfurt went to the final in the 5th UCL ever and got destroyed by Madrid 7-3 and the match getting a record most goals on a single UCL final, and the Madrid goalscorers were Di Stefano with a hat-trick and Puskas with a double brace and no one scored between the time Puskas scored his first and fourth goal.
It was not happened again until 2022, when both teams were also faced each other, but in the Super Cup (because Real Madrid won the same year's Champions League). The score was 2-0 for Real Madrid.
@@fane757 If you talk about the Champions League era since 1993, Manchester United's Treble at Camp Nou was the highest one, with around 95.000 spectators. It's such a rare thing that a Champions League Final was held in a stadium with a 80.000 spectators or more. The current Wembley Stadium staged 2 finals in 2011 and 2013, with around 85.000 spectators. The next year's final might be the same, but it might be sold out if two English teams were both finalists.
its hard to believe roma, Atletico madrid, psg, arsenal, spurs, villareal, frankfurt, napoli, atletico bilbao, lazio and sevilla have 0 champions leagues combined. nuts.
@@Ibratvro while that is true, they have had history of physically violent football and nowhere in their zenith (1980s?) have they been a favorite to win it all.
Bayern Leverkusen - reached the final in 2002 but fell short to a strong Madrid side Valencia reached two ucl finals but lost to real Madrid in 2000 and a year later to Bayern on penalties RB Leipzig and Lyon reached the semis once
Fun Facts: There is a big conspiracy that a big European clubs may only claim the maiden's prize of Champions League when the final was held in Munich. The previous 4 finals held at Bayern's home ground (3 at 1974 Olympic venue and the one in 2012 at the current Allianz Arena) were won by a club that was never won it beforehand such as Nottingham Forest in 1979, Olympique Marseille in 1993, Borussia Dortmund in 1997, and of course, Chelsea in 2012. Borussia Dortmund in 1997 was the very last time that a club had immediately won it after playing the first ever final in the history of the competition. For 2025 final, there is a big chance for PSG to do so, but because no Messi and Neymar, it's an extremely difficult for the club to achieve an impossible dream. Also, the 1997 final was the very last time that a club had won the Champions League at the country that hosted the final. This was also happened a year before, when Juventus claimed this big prize at Rome's Olympic Stadium. In 2011, Manchester United indeed lost to Pep's Barcelona at Wembley Stadium, despite being a "de facto" host in that final. But, chances one or even two Premier League clubs to play in 2024 final, also held at Wembley, was higher, especially because of Manchester City's domination and possible chances for Arsenal, Manchester United, or Newcastle United to do an impossible thing to progress further with good players.
Man City Celtic and Hamburg are an exception to this rule. However when all three clubs won the champions league they also won the domestic league with it as well
@@finesseking7595 You forgot FCSB (Steaua Bucuresti) in 1986, PSV Eindhoven in 1988, and Red Star Belgrade in 1991. Each clubs had their own maiden European Cup at the same year when they won the domestic league. PSV's 1988 triumph also the last case any European clubs to win the Treble while also having their only Champions League victory at the same year before Manchester City this year.
@@pol... because they haven't had lots of uefa success, but they're way better then every other team on this list, current form. You're delusional if you think otherwise
PSG playing in Ligue Un doesn't help. They have too many games that they can win easily playing at 60%. They can't get battle hardened and develop resilience. When they come across another elite team in the Champions League they crack.
@@nizarnor5763 that's wrong, this ranking are supposedly UEFA club ranking, base on the last 5 years. The ranking count every European competition even from the first qualification round
Realistically the best sides never to have won the European Cup (pre and post 1992) were Atlético Madrid, Arsenal, Valencia, PSG and possibly even Saint-Étienne or Dynamo Kyiv.
Based on current ranking it seems more-less true. Historically best two are Athletico Madrid which is the only World champion that was never European champion and Arsenal with a final and bunch of trophies in top 2 league.
What about Valencia? ....making it to the CL final two seasons in a row - losing to Real Madrid (2000), and Bayern Munich (2001). Surely they should be in the top 10......at the expense of Villarreal.
Mbappe Messi Neymar kipembe marqunhis hakimi silva Di Maria cavani were there but then also they lost As a pasg I feel bad that a prime squad like this has not won a major trophy
Atletico Madrid should of won 1-3 CLs. Came short in 4 matches actually one which was a replay against Bayern. They are such an unlucky club. 3 of those 4 CL final matches they should of won. I would say Valencia also super unlucky against Bayern in 2001 Kahn literally won them that CL final. They did 2 CL finals in a row and reached several semis during that period. Sevilla is unfortunately crippled financially and not even a top 30 revenue club. If they had atleast more finances to keep their players and improve their depth they could of been of force in CL. But the fact they have managed 7 wins in EL definitely punched above their weight financially.
Because Roma won the conference last year, were in the final of Europa League this year and were in the final of champions League a long time ago. Don't compare shitty Lazio with Roma, two different levels.
I think they learned their lesson, they started focusing on developing Academy talents instead of drafting this big names like Messi ,Neymar etc . After Mbappe leave the club will become alot less "Mbappe team " and will be more like complete team who can compete at highest level .
Arsenal 10th with no champions league ever won, but in the real ranking they are 23th. And definitely winning European league for years help them a bit
Sampdoria is also they just relegated this season but there was a time when they used to compete in UCL the last UCL final they made was against Barcelona in 1992 where they got defeated.
I think Atletico is the unluckiest club in the UCL finals. In 1974 against Bayern, they lead 1-0 and Bayern come with a corner in the laat minute, they shoul only kick out the ball but it doesnt work, Bayern got an equaliser. In the second meatch Bayern won 4-0.... Alnost exactly happend the same against Real in 2014,last minute, Atletico lead 1-0 and corner for the opponent and they didnt could kick out the ball and loss 4-1 in the extra time. 2016, Clattenburg was with Real because the goal of Ramos' and Griezmanns penalty with the half of the Real players in the box, and then, thye loss on penaltyes... The club and the fans deserv atleast 1 of these 3 finals

Arsenal should have won it They played better than barca but that lemon keeper lost them the game. It was better off letting barca score than getting a red card. Arsenal would have equalised and the game could have been changed
@@amzalothe’s talking about that idiot almunia. Letting in 2 near post easy savable goals in the last 20 minutes and costing us the match. Henry also missed key chances. We so deserved it that day. So sad. 😢
UEFA ranking based on recent years, with Arsenal not qualifying UCL for quite sometimes let alone make it to the final makes their ranking low. While for clubs like Roma and Frankfurt despite not a UCL contenders, they are still successful in other European competition
I understand that Sevilla has 7 europa leagues, but atlético has 3 and 3 supercups (Sevilla has 0), plus atlético has been in three finals and is one of the only 6 teams that has qualified for all of the last 10 champions league
But I would like to point out when AthletiCo was going against Real Madrid, one of those times, Benzema scored an offside hitter that led to eventually Atlético Madrid losing and I’m not just being salty just look at the replays it was clearly offsides
I remember everyone having a go at Man City for not having won it despite all the money they'd spent, but I didn't join in because I felt that it would only be a matter of time and so it proved!
