What a deal!! I think a lot of people now are more into aesthetics when it comes to appliances now vs function, and sure, the cost here is quite high, but these are so unique, have simple functionality, they will last forever, unlike the hi tech coffee makers people are drawn to usually, that this coffeemaker will pay for itself over the years! Plus, you can ship them to the manufacturer for repair if anything goes wrong and they will fix it! Better for the landfills, too, if they part forever! Ours is our favorite appliance and makes great coffee!

*Zojirushi: Great machine!!!* It is designed and made to be good. About 8 years old now, faithfully (and quickly) brewing a beautiful cup of coffee day, after day, after day..... Simple, elegant, space-saving design, with rock solid performance! (I can understand the advantage of a thermal carafe, but we tend to pour our coffee within ten minutes, if not sooner) Highly recommended, even more so when comparing $75 to other machines at $300+.

My husband and I have owned ours for almost 3 years and can’t imagine life without it! You totally get what you pay for and I live the fact it’s made in the Netherlands and is built to last forever! It’s a simple coffeemaker-no digital or electronic chips here-just a straightforward, beautiful and easy to clean coffeemaker that you will no doubt cherish and LOVE the coffee it makes!! We bought the copper color and it looks beautiful in our kitchen as well! I’ll also add that if you buy one and are serious about your cup if Joe, get a good burr grinder and grind your own coffee too…nothing beat us freshly ground coffee in your Moccamaster!

I have had my technivorm for 9 years - with the thermal carafe. I got a refurb product - it makes EXCELLENT coffee - every single time. I have the breville milk frother for when I want to add fancy milk to my coffee. perfection as you can set the temperature. not ever tempted to go out to get coffee. yes it's pricey - but it is hand made quality - and then divide the cost over a decade (or more)

I have the smaller 8 cup technivorm with the thermal carafe, I admit I wrung my hands over the price, but truthfully, now you would have to fight me to give it up. Have to say this too though, I have had several Zojirushi products and every single one of them has been great--the mini bread maker and the rice cooker both great, so when I look for small appliances, Zojirushi gets my preferential attention. As for the Technivorm?, bite the bullet, you will not be sorry that you did.

I found a more versatile option IMO was to buy a _used_ full size Technivorm, and simply brew half a batch, which works out to one 16 ounce insulated travel mug (buy this instead of an expensive carafe, that the cheapest used Technivorms usually do not include), which is perfect. In the event that I need more, I can brew a full batch, or a second batch (it's so fast, that it's worth it, to have fresh coffee).

Did you test a Mr.Coffee? The glass carafe on the hot plate doesn't matter if you drink all the coffee up in half an hour. That Zojirushi 5 cup coffeemaker blew me away. I absolutely LOVED that machine’s brewed coffee and the iced coffee taste. However, the machine did not last 1 full year. When I called the company to request a replacement water tank, the representative told me the water tank is not included in the warranty. In my case, the small spring that holds and releases the water into the brewing system fell out of the tank after 9 months. That entire part had to be ordered, but it was on hold because the company did not have any more in stock. So, I was told I had to order the back ordered part, and pay $20.00(USD) for the replacement tank, and then pay shipping cost. That means the 5 cup $75.00 (USD price at the time) coffee maker would total just under $100.00 (USD). 😔. Not good. I am still on my search for a great, mildly inexpensive, coffee maker; it’s been nearly a year. Again, that Zojirushi machine made THE BEST coffee I have ever brewed!
@Bogie0315
@Bogie0315 3 месяца назад
I have had my Technivorm 16 yr's have only replaced the carafe once and it makes great coffee just as it did from day one. The only thing I disagree with is the glass carafe you have a high and low burner function and when the coffee finishes brewing switch to the low burner and your coffee will be just fine. Now if left on the burner for a number of hours that probably would be a problem, but most people will drink the coffee well before that.

Years ago there used to be to be the Gevallia brand of coffee that was only sold online (or magazine inserts - yes we had those) and part of the deal with a monthly membership is that they would send you a coffee maker and mugs with your first order. The thing is you could cancel after the first couple of months! The coffee was not great but the coffee maker was by Krups (a great brand back then). I bought my Moccamaster because it's also a buy it for life item: any part that breaks you can buy online....you do not replace these things. I didn't go for the carafe and instead went for the glass because if you've ever had a carafe, the cleaning is awful. If that's your jam, do it. I'd rather have to drink my coffee faster and just be able to rinse out the glass.

I feel like I have to put my 2 cents in on this one. My Grandfather was a Chief Commissary Steward in the Navy during World War II. Ever since I can remember, which was back in the late 1950's through 1966 I would watch my Grandfather brew a pot of coffee every morning using either a stovetop or electric percolator. While the coffee was perking he filled 3 pint-sized glass lined thermos bottles with hot water. When the coffee was done he would fill the coffee bottles and cork them, and then pour himself a cup of coffee to drink. As the day went on, he could pour a hot cup of coffee any time he wanted from the coffee bottles. Those thermos bottles kept the coffee HOT all day long without turning the coffee bitter because there was no constant external heat to keep the coffee hot. To this day, some 58 years after my Grandfather died, I still do the same thing. I use an el-cheap-o drip coffee maker, fill it with 40 oz of water and brew it in 10 minutes. I pour myself an 8 oz cup to drink and then I pour the remaining 32 oz into my quart-sized thermos to have hot coffee any time during the day that I want to drink it.

Scoff at the price but we've had the Moccamaster for over 15 years and it's still going strong, so its value is in its longevity. I descale it on a regular schedule due to our well water. I also wish you didn't have to have a separate pieces to close the carafe. We also own a Cusinart coffee maker. I'm curious how that stood up in your rankings.

I bought a Moccamaster 10 years ago, have to admit I was nervous about the price ($225). This thing brews just like when it was new. It gets used daily and always makes a perfect pot of coffee. Just keep up with the cleaning of it and it's bullet proof.

I have that moccamaster and only thing on a cold morning in the winter I gotta put hot water in the coffee pot to warm it up. Otherwise it cools the hot coffee down when it brews it. I kinda wish I got one with a warming plate. But I’m 5 years in and runs great. My cousin has had his for 14 years. Of customer service is amazing. I broke a couple things. They sent me replacement parts for free. No questions asked. Even said it was my fault

" ground to the same particle size" The internet says "Grind Size: Cone filters typically require a medium-fine grind, while basket filters work best with medium grind coffee. This is due to the different shapes of the filters, which affect how water flows through the coffee grounds and extracts flavors." The grinder at Costco has settings for both basket and cone.

The Breville Precision seems to win in nearly every head to head. Even against the more expensive and less capable Technivorm. I get that testers can be 'put off' by the very useful customizations, but if you're looking for the BEST coffee short of a pour over, it is the best machine. Also, once you dial it in for that specific coffee, it is a single button operation. If you like to try different coffees across roast levels, do yourself a favor and go with a machine you can adjust brew temp on. Hotter for lighter roasts, and cooler for dark. Makes a huge difference.

I used a Moccamaster while staying at a vacation house for several weeks. The coffee was very good but the difference from my $80 Cuisinart home machine was not worth the spend IMHO. I am sticking with my 10 year old Brew Central with a glass carafe. Oh, and it can brew 14 cups when the need arises.

Shame that Bonavita wasn't in this test. They're an affordable Technivorm clone. I've had mine for 10 years and it's made perfect coffee every single day.

I didn't see a Bunn anywhere? Those will make a pot of coffee in 3 minutes. The old style is basic, one reason we switched to the Ninja Coffee Bar and other than the Bunn (I once had a Bunn for 15 years) is the only coffee maker that has lasted more than 2 years in this house. We drink a LOT of coffee 😄

FWIW the Technivorm is also extremely fast. I've never owned a Bunn. Are replacement parts as easily available for them, as the Technivorms?

As I learned early on, I pour my coffee with my mug over the sink. Apparently, "pouability" wasn't on the list of engineering criteria while designing my Hamilton Beach Dribble 9000.

OMG, Yes! They said the carafe was the best with the Moccamaster but my only complaint is the pour on the stupid thing, it pours a four inch waterfall out the thing. It has two lids, one for brewing and one for storage. The storage lid does not fit inside the machine when its on.

Love my Mocha Master. It's fast and easy and makes great coffee. No thanks for the thermal carafe though. I'll remember to turn off the plate. Don't care about reheating coffee in the microwave at all. The only complaint about the Mocha Master is the carafe is a bit small.

Where is the list on coffee makers tested? Did you try the 8 cup Bonavita Connoisseur? Only issue we have with ours is the carafe will loose a little temp over a couple of hours if left to sit, which doesn't happen in our house. Single button operation that works flawlessly for our morning brew before work.

Moka Pot aka stovetop espresso (preferably by Bialetti) is the best espresso/coffee maker. Easy to use and clean, no wasteful paper filters, very durable and will likely last a lifetime (with care), inexpensive ($45-$50 bucks for the 6 demitasse cup model, which makes 3-4 regular cups of coffee). And the flavor, amazing. Moka Pot espresso coffee has been my go-to coffee maker for over 10 years. But if you're looking for videos on how to use it, RU-vid is not your friend. Most people posting Moka Pot videos are OCD coffee snobs and will have you jumping through hoops doing completely unnecessary "hacks".
