ABSOLUTELY NOBODY AND I MEAN NOBODY WILL EVER BE AS GOOD AS ANTHONY BURGER. HIS GOD GIVEN TALENT IS UNMATCHED!!!!!!!!! THE GREATEST PIANO PLAYER I'VE EVER SEEN
It was such an amazing honor to witness Anthony in person several times. He never disappointed. One thing that was always evident in his playing was his love, praise and honor of our Lord and Savior. His story is so inspiring. He was never supposed to use his hands again after his accident, but God had a plan to show how wrong the doctors were. I was so saddened to hear of his passing not long after the last time I saw him in concert. Not taking anything away from Anthony has he was special, but we now have another very special and anointed person whose talent is definitely God given as she never had a piano teacher, Kim Collingsworth. She praises God every time she places her fingers on the keys. She is no Anthony, but no one else is. Yet at the same time, no one is a Kim Collingsworth either. Each musician has their own talents and gifts. Anthony and Kim are the two most God gifted that I have ever seen though.
Yes but he died doing exactly what he loved doing! He was doing a concert on the Dutch ship The Suiderdam when in the middle of a song he was suddenly still with his fists clenched over the piano keys! God and Jesus Christ knew him and he knew them very very well! If we could all be like him even in spirit!
Only one near him is Kim Collingsworth. Anthony was never supposed to have use of his hands after his accident. He is a prime example of God telling the doctor’s, “Now it’s MY turn.” Kim never had a piano teacher so she is different, but is truly anointed by God as well.
I had a session with him at Trevecca College years ago. I bought 3 of his music books and still use them frequently. His music arrangements had such a distinct sound & I haven't seen any piano music to compare with it yet. People love those arrangements!
The way he moved his hands and fingers after 3rd degree burns at 8 months old and numerous surgeries. God put so much talent in Anthony that he must have decided he was needed in heaven. I don't know, but God definitely had a plan.
Put him in a room with the greatest ever and the onky question is, who's second? Because we all know who the best was. Cant wait to hear how he plays over yonder.
I sat with some ladies during a Gaither Homecoming concert in Myrtle Beach once that were on the Gaither cruise where Anthony passed away on. They were attending that very concert. They told me of reports that came from others attending the same concert of a tall white misty figure that appeared right behind Anthony right after a song he was playing as a solo ended. He stood for his standing ovation from the audience, then sat back down to ready for the next song. The fish-guru them appeared behind him. Just as Anthony started playing again, the figured gently put his hand on Anthony’s left shoulder and Anthony slumped at the piano. Several members of the Signature Sound Quartet saw him slump and went to him. Finding hi=e had no pulse and wasn’t breathing, they carried him backstage and the ship medical crew came to assist. They performed CPR on him for roughly a half hour before the ship doctor called it and pronounced him dead. The concert continued during all of this, but when Bill Gaither was called backstage to be told what had happened, the music stopped and prayers went up. When Bill came back out, everyone knew by the look on his face what the answer was. The concert then turned into a praise and honor concert to honor Anthony. Many people there that evening speculated that the misty white figure that stood behind Anthony was an angel sent to take Anthony Home. The Gospel Music Industry lost a very big and important part of itself when he died. But we still have other’s carrying that torch now, like Kim Collingsworth. She is another that is very anointed by God. Her talent too is very much God given. She had no piano teacher, yet she still plays the way she does.
