I've been keeping an eye on the conditions on the Canal for a few days. When the conditions were prime Lou and I decided we'd show up to fish pristine conditions...so happy we did!
i love your videos ive seen you guys down there a million times in past 20 years..things are getting out of hand down there but is what it is.. thank you for all your tips, tricks and videos! im the 45 yo in plad pants and shirt keep eye out for meh) hoping to have my bike rdy next spring)
Based on what you saw in this video? Plan your trip wisely. The Canal is not the same like it was in 2018. I would hate for you to go up expecting it to be like what you saw in this video.
Hey Shaka how are you doing? I wasn’t able to follow you for a while due to my phone. It’s all good now and can’t wait for more of your Cape Cod fishing videos. Keep it coming.
Another great video Shaka. Sucks that you were being harassed/mocked for enjoying yourself. Lots of losers down there ruining others’ well-intentioned fun. And I’ve fished next to Lou before, he’s a good dude. Gigantic too, lol, I’m surprised he didn’t drop a haymaker on him, 😂 Tight lines!
Thanks! I appreciate that. The guy actually mocked me three times. I only noticed it while editing, and by the time I got to the third I inadvertently edited out the first two triming the fat of this lengthy video. Had I noticed it then Lou wouldn't have had to do anything for me. Yeah Lou is a good brother. We constantly joke about how he dwarfs fish lol .
@@victorkurylovich3600OH that Victor lol. Yeah I wish I had the triple hook up sequence on Gopro...that would've been epic to add. Sadly my Gopro battery's were dead and my SD card was full.
They come around. Not as often as the Stripers. If you see one get caught then count on many more. They're usually hitting the same plugs as bass. Sometimes blues on top and bass on the bottom but you can't always count on that. Blues tend to stick to certain areas more than bass. An A47 usually can keep the Blues interested...jig it like you would be jigging any other plug.
Hey John Not only do all these donkeys fish here now, they don't know how to handle them. I really hate when they bogo grip big fish bye the lip. I've been fishing the canal for 28 years and it's now a sickening place to fish At least they made a slot limit so donkeys like the ones in this video can't slaughter all the breeders. Also glad they don't allow commercial in canal Stay tight
I don't use "expensive" waders...they tend to rip every year so I don't see the need to buy good ones lol. I get Frog Togs or anyone thick enough to last a season or two.
Well, there are two philosophies here 1. Pick a spot and enjoy the "waves" of fish that swim by 2. Stick and move if you want to either keep with the lead school or continue with the school to stay on a certain class of fish. The only problem is lately the canal seems to have a lot more newcomers (fish that aren't summer residents) that have odd patterns VS residents that take up holding/staging positions. So you can have fish not swimming by you "in the middle" They will stay West or East... newcomers!
we could go on debating forever and ever about saltwater lures and freshwater lures there's one thing I've learned is to never doubt A lure until you try it I fish the lower Colorado River for striped bass
@@risktaker6595 as long as we're respectful I'm game for a good debate. 1. My understanding is freshwater gear would corrode faster in saltwater. Am I wrong? 2. Plugs should look and swim like what they're feeding on in the location they're feeding. In my experience the location can be key as to what plugs "should" work. Would a Striper hit one of those baits (or any freshwater bait) in the salt...I'm sure they would "if" they feed on them (whatever fish the bait looks like) someplace else. I can't see a Striper feeding on something they've never ate...that's not learned behavior. 3. A freshwater "bait" needs to be more durable in it's construction in my opinion if it will be used for saltwater fish/environments due to harsher conditions. 4. For a location like the Canal how many freshwater baits would get to the bottom where Stripers often hold?
