I was born here 62 yrs ago and never left. I find it very expensive these days. Especially taxes. My daughter and son in law have lived in Denver for the last 8 yrs. They are moving back to Ann Arbor because they can get a great house for 650,000. Same house in Denver would be 1.2 mill.

This city used to be fun but now even Pinball Pete's is being threatened by a student skyrise. U of M has monopolozed the city. It's a good city for some (rich) families but forget living here after high school if you don't attent U of M. I've been in the city for decades, grew up here. Now I'm getting priced out in favor of students. That doesn't even touch on lack of living wage.

"Affordable housing" in ann arbor does not account for those of us that make less than $30,000 a year, and believe me, there are a LOT of us.

The city has been working with developers to address this very issue. More affordable housing is on the horizon.

@@TRULIVINGMICHIGAN yeah the CITY with its BIG Landlords McKinley said that in the 90's etc Let's HOPE not let BIG Firms dictate the rates of "Progress" COndos were watned due to affordability and lack of ... now who knows Always the duplexes

When I eat lunch downtown I spend right around $10-15 for a good meal. If you're going to fancy restaurants, you'll probably pay $30, but that's not the norm.

I lived worked raised my family in A2 1995- 2019... as working class ... it was mindfully tough yet worth every environment opportunities that spring board youth like longest maker bot space in A2 All HAnds Active for example Thanks :D Appreciate your response I am often FOR THE NERDS in LIFE Peace

@@TRULIVINGMICHIGAN been that way since ww2 real estate and bcz 1 can... was a A2 resident worked raised family in A2 for 30 yrs No it is not affordable housing cost over time in any income and time, most have a sideline with working ft degrees jobs You have to be creative and on the move .. or just MOVE to small boring towns for costs like what most do to keep their jobs retire etc Often was said Ann Arbor is the life preserver of Michigan for decades .. Love A2 culture and community Best in State Must admit

Not sure who said that Ann Arbor is the best place to live. This is the worst place to live. The cost of living is too high. If someone moving from other place please think twice and decide.

The housing taxes are the worst. 11000 for my home. It’s nuts.
