The Best Crockpot Cake! 🍒 

Why is the pull top of the cherry pie filling on the bottom and did she use a can opener for the top? I have so many questions and I don’t know if I want answers.

I've made this for many years and my 96 year old mom did too long before me so this recipe goes way back. Persinslly, I add chopped pralines between filling and before cake mix on top. Also we prefer to use yellow or butter cake mix as its the yummiest ever! I've replaced the cherry pie filling with raspberry or blackberry pie filling too but for sometimes it comes out a little too sweet for me. I've also mixed the raspberry filling (raspberry is my favorite berry!) and cherry pie fillings together with pineapple (crushed). Equally yummy! Your entire house will smell delicious!! The neighbors have smelled it lingering in the air and asked "OMG...What are you making????" It's THAT AMAZING!!

Two cans of cherry pie filling, two cans of crushed pineapple without the juice. One box of yellow cake mix three sticks of butter and pecan cookie pieces along with a 9 x 13” pan or glass baking Pyrex. Next the cherry pie filling in the pineapple together put it on the bottom sprinkle the yellow cake mix on top pat it down melt the butter pour it over the top and sprinkle the pecan cookie pieces on top. Bake at 3:50 for 45 minutes or more depending on your oven. Made this for Christmas. My family loved it.

Years ago when my children were small (They are now in their late 30s and early 40s.), we had invited friends over for supper. I grew up on the farm where you had at 45 course meal along with dessert. Every dessert I wanted to make. I seem to be missing one or two items. So we did have a counter cherry pie filling and we didn’t have a can of crushed pineapple and a chocolate cake mix. We dumped them all in to the 9 x 13 cake pan and I bake mine at 3:50 for a half an hour and checked it and then added an extra 10 minutes because it can be a little more moist with all of the fruit. We did have a container of Cool Whip in the freezer which we took out and we called our masterpiece “dump cake quote…. over the years we made it many times, and each time it was made a little bit different, but my favorite was always the chocolate cake with cherry pie filling, and a second fruit of some kind.😊❤️😊❤️😊❤️😊 Now, my children make it for their children❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️

put some brown sugar between the fruit and the cake mix and it's really close to a pineapple upside down cake.

I’ve been doing this for years we call it dump cake because you dump all the ingredients and then I bake it on a 9 x 13 glass casserole dish. I also top it with a mixture of oatmeal, flour sugar, cinnamon and butter. Mix it all up and crumble it on top takes it to the next level.

I did this in the oven ŵhen I was high school ...1982.. I was the only dude in that class.. we were 7 kids in that class.... Good memories....

I used to make this in a dutch oven over a campfire. It tastes better in 14 degree weather.

I love putting pineapple juice in yellow or white cake mix. It tastes so darn good, Coconut milk adds a really nice flavor too. When I made my Pina` Colada dump cake I put 1 part pineapple juice and 1 part coconut milk. My goodness, it tastes amazing. I do love coconut in and on my cakes if the recipe calls for it. This looks so easy and delicious. Thank you for sharing. I might make this tonight.

I mix the cherries and pineapple together so it's not so layered before I put the cake mix over the fruit. I not only mix coconut flakes in the cake mix BEFORE I put it on top of the fruit, but sometimes I mix chopped nuts in the cake mix too. So you have 3 ways to have it. Plain, coconut, or coconut and nuts! I always ask my family which one they want. ALWAYS eaten within 2 days! And it makes a good potluck dish too. I use a 9"x13", baked in the oven for those occasions. One of my most requested recipes.

I made a version of this with my grandma a few months back! With the only differences being we used yellow cake mix and added walnuts. Its called "dump cake", and is INCREDIBLY easy to make. And delicious too!

My family has made this for years. It's cherry dump cake and we always make it in the oven. Turns out perfect every time. Pineapple and cherries is a perfect combination.

I do this in the oven with peaches! Its the best "cobbler" ever!!( The way the white cake mix and butter taste is just freaking awesome! Lol i could eat it everyday and never get worn out!)

They used to put this recipe on back of a Betty Crocker cake mix it's actually called a dump cake and instead of coconuts on top they recommend chopped up pecans. It is so good

Love dump cake, so easy and so good. Not a fan of pineapple so I usually use one can of cherry and one can of blueberry.

I’ve also done it with pumpkin pie filling and a spice cake mixture; makes a good pumpkin cake! Dump Cakes are rather universally beloved around here!

Thank you for putting the pineapple juice on top!! 👏 The butter alone is not enough to cover and moisten the cake mix! I've seen so many recipes with just the butter on top and there are dry clumps of flour on top. This is the first dump cake that I would actually make. And yes on the coconut!! 😋

My friend’s mom growing up used to make these but she didn’t put the juice on top and she baked it in the oven! It would make cherry cobbler. But she was a quick and easy dinner time cook because she was married and had three sons plus me the best friend who practically lived there with my three best friends. And I was a fat kid! I’m not anymore. I often do this for a quick peach cobbler as well I just use canned peaches and heat them on the stove with butter and spices and then pour in the dish and add cake mix and butter although I like to melt and drizzle my butter and then you bake. I serve it a la mode! Pretty bomb!

Add chopped pecans, and yes add coconut...I make this as a dump cake in the oven. Never any leftovers

I'm gonna make this but I'm going to substitute the cherries with freshly made cranberries and sprinkle graham cracker crust within the fruits before adding the white cake mix , it adds a bit of crunchies within the fruit. You can always sprinkle the graham cracker crust into the cake mix too. YUM!😊 This is a great Holiday dessert. ❤

For years, we've made a peach cobbler in a crock pot. 1 to 1-1/2 hrs. Sooooi delicious!!!

I'm going to try this but I'm on a special diet so I will use frozen blueberries, blackberries and pineapple in its juice , oatmeal, a little less butter, the juice, and top with whipped coconut cream, nutmeg and ginger. mmm. I love my crock pot!

We use chocolate cake mix for a Black Forest Cake. Or spice cake mix or pecan cake + pumpkin pie filling.

you can also just use a regular can of peaches in heavy syrup and yellow cake mix. crockpot is great for holding down heat in the summer or freeing your oven for something else like a turkey or homemade bread.

I do a peach cobbler? one 20+ oz can slice peaches, one cake mix, butter on top. Bake 3 hours on high in crock pot and serve with vanilla ice cream. YUM! 😋🤤

I can't just dump the dry cake mix on top. You always have yuck clumps of it left. Mix the butter and juice with the cake mix then spread it over the fruit.
