Great list! My only difference of opinion is the Caverns of Lost Hope. On my server, Basilos are unreliable as wingmen, as sometimes they just follow me and refuse to contribute to the fight regardless of their behavior setting or whistle commands. Personally, I prefer to do most of the cave on a Tuso, and switch to a basilo just for the artifact chamber. Then as an escort I recommend bringing at least 2, mate-boosted, baryonyx. The bary's are only there to stun everything you fight, not deal damage, so put all their points into health and give them the best saddle you can make. I recommend putting a few stacks of fish in their inventory before entering the cave, and turning their harvesting/looting off so you dont have to empty their inventory from them being overburdened. The lower level your Barys are, the more of them you should bring, just try to get a good mix of male and female so they retain their mate buff if any of them die. NOTE: Bary's are only viable if you are running the cave solo- their spin attack will dismount friendly players, even if you are in the same tribe and on a PvE server (which is dumb).
So the behavior that you are talking about is caused by the basilo's deep water vulnerability. It's a secondary effect that makes unridden basilos unable to fight. The cave is in deep water, so you will have to swim close to the surface inside the cave for them to fight. The corridor towards the artefact is not that hard to do with only one basilo. The main cave room is where you need the pack. Unfortunately, I forgot to mention this in the video. So, thank you, sir, for reminding me!
The caverns of lost faith isn’t that hard. Don’t be intimidated by the mosas there either. The cave is too small for them to move around properly and they’ll just get stuck in the walls. For the ice cave, bring a pick too, there’s a section where you have to break some crystal to get further in. For the caverns of lost hope *don’t get surrounded.* you will die. I’ve lost a super high level basilo and a tuso this way, don’t underestimate the hard water cave. It’s *really* hard. The path to the artifact is also quite narrow which doesn’t help, good luck survivor.
Bring a Basilosaurus for the water caves. I brought 4 l evel 312 sharks with primitive saddles and lost all 4, but I do feel like they helped to clear the cave, though you can just swim directly to the entrance without killing anything. Just be sure your basilosaurus is on passive follow so it doesn't swim away if attacked. In the Ice Cave.....good luck. I brought a Baryonyx and 6 Raptors with me and I lost 1 Baryonyx and 15 Raptors, and died about 8 times. The biggest threat is Purlovia stuns. Once you learn how to spot those things in the ground you should be able to use Grenades to get them out before they jump you. I've heard a Yutyrannus is useful here too, but I didn't have one at the time.
1800 hours and just never did the boss fights. Ive messed around with everything other than the sitting there breeding up the best dino army to kill the bosses.
Another tip for the Caverns of Lost Hope is to not stay still while fighting all of the creatures inside. If you swim in a circle attacking you won't get stuck and it makes it harder for the enemies to hit you.
Good guide. I think the underwater caves can certainly be challenging to inexperienced players, so it does help to research and be prepared. I’ve noticed that some of the biggest problems in these caves are the high level alphas, pack bonuses, and dunks. It helps to have a nearby settlement or to rush through the cave with maybe a daeodon for the land portions of it to help heal up any damage. A high level basilo really is the most effective way of reducing problems, and knowing which fights you can take is key to success. Being impatient and cocky will get you killed.
I remember me doing the north east cave with a thyla, spamming a cryopod to kill all creatures. I also remember doing both underwater caves with just a basilo, where i avoided almost all creatures and got the artifact
Running Central Cave with a direwolf or sabretooth is a good way of farming chitin. On my server we have a little base setup with chem benches and doeds to farm cementing paste. Works pretty well.
My go to cave creature for any land based cave is the Theriznosaurus, nothing aggros you and you can easily mount and dismount when you need to, to throw it out a bit further.
For the caverns of lost faith, my experience is to set up beds, some sets of scuba and just go for it, you will die 1-4 times but it is pretty easy that way
Tip for the caverns of lost hope: If you have a friend it isnt too hard to do it dolphin. They are faster than any creature inside. You must be careful with the electric snakes.
I actually find that a small pack of Allosaurus work well for the snow cave. As long as you keep the alpha in front and the others on passive/neutral and behind you, you can slow all creatures with the shred ability in front of you and mow them down quickly so long as they don’t get to your other allos in the pack. Only caveat is that you’re still susceptible to purlovia dismount so I’d recommend bringing grenades or a rocket launcher to get them out of their burrows so that they don’t have a chance to jump out and dismount you.
9:41 "do not do this with one mount".. :P get a fast dolphin (every point in speed and a bit in health) and you can do it with just one mount. Kind of "fast in fast out".
I'm not really a big fan of the high risk "fast in fast out" method, but I wont judge anyone for using it. :)) I'm more of a "slaughter all" kind of player. 😂
I personally recommend a Megatherium for every cave with mostly bugs inside. These guys get a massive boost for killing them and make even the swamp cave a very easy one.
@@SpartacusSurvives I've always done Ark with console commands so trying to play properly is a shock to the system for sure 😅 Appreciate the video and the helpful info
Use therizinos for tek cave there easy to maneuver down the path and they pack a punch just make sure you put veggie cakes in there inventory, for the underwater caves use a good imprinted basio they wreck put movement into cave dinos ,and for the hard ice cave i use 3 allos for the buff
Me and some buddies of mine are currently trying to beat all bosses on the island on a private server. That one ice cave with the polar bears is absolutely dreadful. We tried taking in 3 rexes and even with that, the amount of high level mobs is insane.
I would suggest leveling up your movement speed and health, then going in on foot with ascendant flak and grappling hooks. Just run past everything you see and you’ll make it.
For the Caverns of Lost Faith you can speed run your way trough with the Diplocaulus without getting attacked, well if you have luck like me. At my first try I lost my lvl 113 Basilosaurus that is so sad (Yes, this was my skill issue). I could have avoided that if i used the Diplo the first time. I will try to do the same at Lost Hope.
I run the upper south cave with my dire wolf(i use it for the cave on death/predator island too) then use my sinomacrops to fly me up through the hole at 4:07 to skip the whole water section. (I know the sino doesn't spawn on the island but I tamed it on lost island and brought it over.)
Hmmm... It depends on the level. For the first 2 caves, it's ok, but you will have a hard time hitting onycs in the latter caves, since the Kapro is not as tall and can't jump normaly, like the bary. The main problem is that the kapro has less than half the health of a bary.
I understand the appeal of doing everything the hard way (more rewarding in the end), but I think you will find that much of the game is designed around the use of these items and features. I can't imagine running the swamp cave without crypodding your megatherium between chokepoints.... Or how you'd get a Yuty inside the ice cave... You'll be playing the Island for 5 years just trying to amass an army of wolves big enough to complete a single cave.
Terrible advice. Shadowmane will get murdered by a single jellyfish in water caves. Shadowmane will get wrecked by arthropleuras in swamp cave. Shadowmane is also vulnerable to dismount by purlovia on ice cave. I've seen many beach bobs take top Shadowmanes into those caves and lose everything. Sure, you can get lucky and avoid all of those things, but use the right tool for the right job, and even a level 1 Bob can clear the caves easy.
