Wanted one of these so bad until I saw the price and then quickly forgot all about it… commented before I saw the specs and price and wow that’s easily affordable I must’ve been looking up a different board!
A cool feature I figured out accidentally (yes I threw myself on the ground rather quickly 😅) is if you hit the power button twice quickly, it puts the motors in reverse.
The advances to tech, are insane if you think in a 1980's perspective. the mileage on that is pretty damn impressive to me as a kiddo. Wish we had stuff like this as kids.
You mean even from a 2010 perspective. I used to have all kinds of electrical mobility devices. But now a days the performance of new electric mobility vehicles is insane.
I grew up in New York, have never been to California But playing Grand Theft auto 5 for 6 years and seeing your stunning footage of Venice beach is wild, it feels like I’ve been there before hahah
Thank you Emmett! I appreciate the DTLA shots. I’m a dog walker about to relaunch in DTLA & I’m looking for solutions to cut down mileage on walking from client to client. Kicking & pushing & pedaling ain’t gonna cut it.
Thanks for the review. I bought a long board with belt motors and found wheeling it around handy but it's still heavy and too big to put in a backpack. Thinking of getting a mini kick board with hub motors that apparently roll easier unpowered than belt driven so you can ride it empty. Downsides with a mini?
take a look at a meepo voyager if your looking for the best electric skateboard under 1k, power, speed, range, it's unmatched by anything under 1.5k including evolves, boosted, wowgo at, and others, for reference i have over 5k miles on pevs and have ridden quite a few of board on the market , including going trough 9 different boards myself, anyway check it out, dont think youd be displeased! great video keep it up 👍
BE WARNED! The hub style motor boards with tiny sleeves are super hard on your ankles and feet unless the surface conditions are perfect! Sidewalk with cracks in it? Rough bitumen? That are both pretty much the norm everywhere in the world? You need a belt motor board with some cushy wheels. So many hub motor boards are flooding the secondhand market because people learn this really quickly when it comes to real world stuff!
Best Eboard for price, distance and speed is Onsra BC2, BC3. Its not even close. I have alot of brands and you cant beat it in my opinion. After riding the Onsra. I dumped my Backfire. Biggest reaaon ws terrible distance. In Seattle there is 15.25 mile group ride evey Saturday night during Spring/ Summer and the folks with Backfire couldnt finish the ride. Onsra had loads of charge left.
🤙Such a cool place to ride. Nice editing too. I just started my new channel, electric skateboarding and mountainbiking in Amsterdam. Only have one vid up so far, but planning to upload as much as I can.
the boosted was the premium board at the time… and now u go for a budget longboard? lol… just some friendly advice, wear a helmet and dont be afraid of spending more on a electric longboard.. sooo much diversity in a good 2 in 1 board. tons of options out there.. meepo hurricane, wowgo at2, evolve hadean, evolve gtr, lycaon trx, onsra black carve, vestar black hawk 2. eovan gts super.. and a few others . 🤙🏼🤙🏼
Hey there, with so much to choose from what would you say the best 2 in 1 board there is right now? Looking for reliability, great handling, etc. thanks
@@esk8unity thanks! Does your channel have a breakdown of these boards? Would like to get one but don’t want to regret getting a subpar board later down the road if that makes sense.
If you wanted something that has an awesome variety you should check out something with like belt drive. If you get something like the backfire zelot it's basically gonna feel like right and on a cloud in comparison
Just so people know I got a cheap Chinese board with dual hub motors it's acceleration was crazy and it was very fast but the battery shat itself after not that long
@@emmettshort I think I’ll stick to one of those lime style scooters for now and pray for the best. lol. Hey, no I grew up in Manhattan beach around the Hermosa pier, it looks sort of similar to your scenery?
Huh weird. I don’t have anything to do with the company so can’t help you there. I doubt they scammed you tho they are a pretty big brand. Hope it works out!
If these where not ads you should include a rough surface test. Like cobble stone. If your using it to get around your going to hit bad patches of road.
It’s not an ad. It’s def not an off-road board though. The OneWheel is much better for stuff like that. If you don’t wanna go really fast the OneWheel is the way to go
@@emmettshort Yes, You know that because you've used it. Just thinking it would be a good demo to do for the viewers to haven't used it. I wouldn't consider cobble stone, off road. Cobble is common in cities with bigger temperature changes.
Belt drive is way better than hub motors. I’ve had two boards with hubs break. On one the wheel got jammed and won’t move. On the second the hub motor fell off when I was riding. Belt drive can handle big cracks in the road that destroy hub motors
They both have their pros and cons. I've had this board for a while now and have had no issues going over rough and patched up roads with the stock PU wheels. Hubs have no rolling resistance if you board dies it's not useless like a belt drive and has more clearance under the rear truck. Going over large pebbles and rocks you can easily scratch your belt housing and belts with belt drive. For people who aren't e-board fanatics and jus want a simple affordable ride hubs are great. Obviously belts have their advantages lik greater torque and wheel options but they are also more expensive and require more maintenance and are loud AF. Both hub and belt drive have their place. One is not definitively better than the other
@@jarenventures hey if you're just starting out I would personally recommend either Wowgo 2S Max or Meepo V4S. Those are both reputable brands and high quality offerings with plenty of power for most riders. They will both go at least 25+mph and if anything happens to the hubs they are very cheap to replace and their is no maintenance like a belt driven board. Also hubs have no rolling resistance so you can use them like regular long boards. More than anything I would suggest doing your own research and seeing what is the best fit for your needs. There are plenty of videos and articles comparing the two drive trains
@@stpierreorama gotcha.. i just need something that can last rlly long and is safe and easy to turn. I honestly was looking at the ownboard w2! do yk anything about that.
@@jarenventures that's a very nice board but I don't think it's worth the additional price over Meepo VS4 or Wowgo 2S max. You will get the same top speed from those two boards for less money and meepo in particular has great torque and acceleration which is what people with belt drives want. Wowgo will not be as aggressive in accelerating but I think is better for beginners since it's much smoother and gradual in acceleration and also has a nicer remote. The VS4 however has a really nice deck, I personally love aggressive concave and will be on par with ownboard W2 in speed and acceleration for $200 less the meepo VS4 is the best value(just wait until there is a sale they happen all the time). My main turn off wit ownboard W2 is the deck looks really flat, from experience I prefer a nice concave that keeps you locked in. I really like the green wheels though but that should be last of your concern. If you're really set on a belt drive I would personally go with Tynee Board Ultra. Its the same style of board as ownboard W2 but better battery for less $$. And you can always swap the wheels out with green ones. One of the best advantages of belt drive is unlimited wheel options. -Meepo VS4(wait for a sale)best value -Wowgo 2S max best for beginners, it will give you confidence and make you feel comfortable before steeping up to a greater powered board but this has plenty of power for most riders and doesn't leave me desiring more power by any means -Tynee board Ultra best entry level belt drive, less voltage sag and best battery options over Ownboard W2 Just know that no matter what board you get batteries will decay over time. You an expect 3-5 years life on average but then you can just replace it with a new one. Make sure to follow manufactures suggested storing methods to keep your battery from prematurely decaying. Usually for long term storage you keep it at 40-60% charge and charge it once a month or so I hope this helps you. Regardless of why I say go with what you feel is best and why gets you excited to ride. Dont worry too much about specs. They are all just minimal and marginal differences and aren't that drastic when riding. Any of these boards will be great options
@@emmettshort ah maaaan. I hoped you would recommend something different. I have the mini back in Germany at home 😅 hoped for a reason I can tell my girlfriend to get another one 😅✌️
good day emmett i love ur work and u inspired me. And i would love to start up an electric skateboard channel. I really need a board for beginner so am asking u to please send me onne of your board anyone laying around in the house or anything Thanks man have a great day
getting serious triggers to play some GTAV find some NPC (fingers crossed on a skate board)...hehehe)...whip out the mark 2 anddddddd everyone loses there shit lolz......but seriously man those houses n the background does the Doc live there?....u have such a nice beach front...wish my pear at new brighton new zealand was this good but nah just cold gray concrete
You talk to Dave? I got a board from him a few years back, if I remember correctly he was thoroughly disgusted with RU-vidrs. I really wanted to love it but sadly I suck at skateboarding. Ended up giving it to an Amazon of a Chinese longboarding model who worked my shoot. Bit of an old man crush happening there
You compare the boosted to anything. Cuz boosted is no more. And I’m saying this with love for boosted. I have over 2K on my boosted mini but the day the battery goes bad then what? Even controllers. I’ve seen controllers going for 600$ alone 🤦🏽♂️
ps also if ur smart enough all u need is a cheap as longboard from Walmart then some hubs n motors from aliexpress then design a battery pack slap them all together and by rights it should be half the cost or even less
