@@AfricaTwin-Stuff OK if you said so , but for me it's very clear when you turned the wheel @ 18:47 , There is a change in the leveling of the edge of the rim . I like to focus in the edge of the Rim, when I do wheel balance by myself. Good luck 👍
Yes it is easy to see when the wheel is spun. Get the dial indicator from the shed, or just brace a screw driver on the suspension arm to the edge of the rim. It’s a bit like the puppy’s gonads.
Ok. You both have me intrigued. So I went and had a look. I can see why you thought the rim was bent. But it’s not the rim. That part of the tyre hasn’t seated into the rim properly, causing the “bump”. This issue usually resolves itself on the first ride but if not I’ll over-pressure it to get it to seat. Thanks.
Ok. The saga continues. I seated the tyre which took out most of the “bump” when spinning the wheel. But I was wrrr, I was wrrrr, I was mistaken. There is also a slight buckle in the rim in that spot. Luckily I’m not concerned. I’ve had worse with no I’ll effect. Thanks for the adventure!
Having a shaft drive on my bike I usually just take my bike to the shop . He charges $30 to fit it and he greases up the drive gear while he's at it. I stay clean and I know it's done properly .
Nice, went from the stock Dunlops to Scorpion Trail 2s, 2x Road 5’s and now 6’s love the 6’s Spent the weekend in Switzerland and France putting another 1000Km on them
I bought a 2018 Nc750x after watching your videos,after 1 year of ownership I'm trading it in for a vfr800x cross runner,but I'm certainly going to miss it...I won't stop watching though 😊
Nice job. I’m at the point where I need to replace both front and rear after the latest summer road trip and I have heard good things about those Michelins. I have ordered a set of Dunlop Mutants though, thinking I’ll give those a try. We get a lot of wet days on Vancouver Island and down into the north western states where we tend to go touring, and I do some gravel/logging roads on my NC similar to what you were riding on. Great video once again!
Glad to know that you like the Michelin 6 tyres. I usually run Dunlop road smart's ,but cannot find the rear for my Triumph Tiger 800 XR. So I purchased the Michelin 6 's .[2 pairs] Picked up a deck screw on my last road trip, so now is the time mount the new rubber.
I did the same with my DCT version and it was just as easy. I just wish that Honda used better rear swing arm with better adjusters. Even cheapo KTM390 has cast aluminium arm with much better adjusters.
As usual Adrian another really splendid video,I’m planning to move to PR6’s myself on my NC DCT but was wondering how many K’s you got out of the old rear tyre? Thanks Matey.
Tyre wear is more dependent on variable factors than the tyre brand. I seem to be harder on tyres than others. The only way to truely compare is for two riders : - have the same bike and riding style - ride the same road roads - with the same temperatures - same speeds I got 11,000 km from my 6, which is a couple of thousand more than other tyres I’ve used. So I’m quite happy. You might get twice that under different conditions.
Is that Frankie Howard doing the voice over? Love your style and entertaining videos, please pass on my regards to Mrs Honda NC750X Stuff, I trust she is enjoying her new wheels?
Doesn't "Mongrel Dog" change his road bike tyres himself on his touring adventures using the bike stand to break the bead? That dude is truly resourceful. My BMW S1000R was reversed into last week and looks like being written off. Looking at a new CB 500X as a replacement.
Arrrr. But Mongrel Dog is a REAL man! People who ride NC Hondas are not. I did a trip with a mate (“In search of the hidden giant” vid) where he punctured his Aftrica Twin rear tyre. It took three of us to break the bead using the side stand method. Then three of us to wrestle the tyre off then on again. Not fun.
HIya , Its good to see you again. Thanks for the video its always good to watch even the most simple jobs done well before I have to have a go,m Im running R5's but will have a go with 6's when Minw need replacing. Cheers. Oh by the way how is the missus getting on with her new bike.
Thanks mate. I’d be happy with 5’s but can’t get them here anymore. Wendy is still getting used to the new bike but is loving the greater power and the very low seat height. So I think it’s a win.
When I got my 650 bandit it got road 4 on them, when I change the first time I got road 5 and now I just got road 6, best tiers I ever had, much better then metzler road tec and pirelli angel IMHO.
Road 6 is the only tire I've had so far on my '22 NC750X DCT, I will definitely be using it again. How many miles did you achieve on yours? You didn't need to replace the front?
Rear 11,000km. But I’ve learned from past experience you can’t judge tyre wear from someone else unless you - have the same riding style - travel the same roads - in the same conditions. Having said that, I’m typically harder on tyres than most people I know. Front lasts a lot longer than rear so it’s rare I change both together.
Good to know. I've always heard they should be changed at the same time. I'm in Scottsdale, AZ..all pavement riding. I know you ride off road.@@AfricaTwin-Stuff
@@jimalcantara6638 hmmm. “Always heard” is what you get told by bike shops wanting to sell more tyres. Absolutely no reason to change a tyre till it’s at or just before the wear indicators.
Well done 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 And if Hondas' management were more intelligent, and they weren't as STINGY, as they are, they'd require to upgrade this bike model with, at least the stuff you've done to yours. Well - that is offcousre IF they they were.....
