Div 2 is alright, certainly a better end game. But Div 1's atmosphere is unparalleled. Post-Apoc NY in winter is just such a great setting. Extremis Malis, Extrema Remedia
Except the divsion 1 looks nothing like the E3 trailers and how good and atmospheric that looked, lots of effects are just flat out removed some mods bring part of it back but its not the same as that E3 trailers
@@Exhalted1 I never actually saw the e3 trailers until after the fact so ehn, didn’t really matter to me. I try to avoid hype trains and pre-launch stuff altogether as a rule
@@TheTurtleinariver Maybe its a good thing you didn't if you do, you can never unsee the downgrade and its not just the graphics...the way the ui uesd to be in trailer, the map welp just don't look at it I guess to save yourself the pain
I still yearn for the time where i was grinding Destiny And The Division before they both followed the same path of having a technically more successful sequel but not quite feeling the same. Both of those games still had the exhilarating feeling of exploring a brand new world with new experiences and memories, Feats/Achievements in both games of completing the Incursions and Raids, The PVP in both games back then were super hardcore but still fun and Meta Heavy so constantly build and Weapon grinding had me absolutely nerding out for 4-5 years each all while playing some sports games on the side. Absolutely loved playing video games in highschool and can’t touch those successful sequels i talked abt besides Destiny 2 when it dropped I played to completion and didn’t scratch my same itch. I got back into the Division 2 but it’s even more build dependent than D1. Been Playing Arma Reforger, Sorry for my rant💀
That moment when you fire the flare thinking you're safe and then you hear ISAC callout: "Heavily armed hostile inbound" **Smoke bomb** "High threat hostile detected" That will forever be the most "oh shit" moment for me in any game.
That shit gave me the chills, i want it in the division 1 era that we could have a mode where we can play as a hunter, like a 2nd character but yeah dreams be still be dreams
I still remember my first fight against the hunter with my friend, we were getting wrecked and a random came up and revived me and helped us kill him and we all stood there and looked at him wondering what faction he was thinking it was special forces of LMB, little did we know
No game has ever matched the cozy atmosphere of Div1, nor the incredible high of successfully extracting that godroll Vector from the Dark Zone while my friends sacrificed themselves to protect the chopper for me.
Man those vibes. I’m actually running a vector build in TD2 rn, I got the perks n stuff that makes it run like 61 rounds, yet the mag fires so fast it feels more like 20-30 bullets 😂
@@flashyjackyoutube Heck yeah. I run a Striker/St. Elmo's/Dark Winter build (I know, somewhat cliche) and am pretty happy with its performance on Heroic. Wish there was a difficulty level between Heroic and Legendary because I don't like having to rely on saturating my gameplay with directives to make things more challenging.
Im gonna hate when it goes offline forever. It's a ubisoft online only game. Once the servers go, the games gone too. The Crew's already been struck down.
I always liked division for the idea behind it, it reminded me of universes like fallout but rather than being 200 years in the future you are at the edge of protecting humanity from becoming a new rapture event to set back the world and your division operator is what stands at the flood gates to protect it all.
that was my only reasoning to playing this game. I hate shooters, more a story based gal lol but I loved the idea of that dystopian future. Dying light, the Last of Us and fallout are some of my favourite games and I so wish Division had more of that survival type game and not a looter shooter
@@miaboaler2968I love shooters, it’s all I play. But sometimes I need lore, a background, a purpose, drama. This game was perfect… except for the whole it being a level “RPG” type gameplay
@@SanLeMans I love FPS games, but I can't enjoy one unless it has good lore or immersion. Which is sad because nowadays popular FPS are just mixing in anything remotely trendy. Appealing to as many people, yet devoid of personality.
@@Soliye. right, there isn’t a single AAA game that goes from dark reality of war to “ANIME GUNS AND UWU” either that or it’s an indie game that doesn’t good but 1 choice isn’t enough. I need more than sandstorms, I need more than 2003 weaponry. Why not be fictional enough like the division but realistic enough in our weapons and biology.
I feel like sometimes I’m the only person who remembers these games existed. The Division was peak for me back in middle school, hopefully Ubisoft doesn’t plan on ruining the franchise anytime soon.
They're supposed to release like one more dlc and then a 3rd game a few years down the line. I really hope we get either winter or spring. A raining Portland or Seattle would be awesome.
@@jeckek9936 I would like to say that you sound like one RU-vidr I watch that is always loud and super negative with his opinions that are usually wrong, but if other comments are to be believed, Heartland just got cancelled. Already not a good sign of things to come.
adding to the music section, I want to believe they wisely ignored that "silence = tense" idea. the soundtrack Survival has almost imitates a heartbeat depending on the situation. It makes us follow that rhythm and our pressure rises and lowers as the situation requires it to be. In your clip being used for Vandra where the Player enters and shoots from the second floor, the percussion and the light synth is, I think, represents the heartbeat in tension and the hum in your ears under stress. It's fucking awesome.
I actually really like when silence is done right, but Ubisoft was always good at making you feel those tense moments. For reference, just the scores that used to play at the start of a game in Rainbow Six Siege. Each map had a unique score and a unique one would play upon wining or losing. It was like a ticking clock, you felt you were on a timer. That "heartbeat" was also involved in that game. It's so subtle, but it sells that tension so well. Really miss that immersion... Unnoticed to most players, but it gave the game a personality. Even the winning scores had you wonder "what did we really win". Contrasts so hard with all the cheering you usually get in competitive games.
@@Soliye. I agree on this, it adds to the atmosphere you're getting yourself into. Ubisoft isn't good at everything but their way of immersion just by sound design alone is exemplary.
@@basic2528 They really do a lot of good things. Their level design and accuracy with real-world locations are great too. It's just sad that with every step forward they make for each new release, they also take 2 steps back.
Fr that’s what I hate about div 2 the most. Forgettable factions, although Evelin Shaw is a fantastic boss, but I don’t even think about anyone else. The cleaners and rikers are iconic
Ever since people started dubbing these games as "extraction shooters", I always thought back to this game and hoped that others who got to experience it were as fond of it as I was. The Division Survival was truly one of the best experiences that multiplayer gaming has ever had to offer.
@@Captain_Flint_lock facts man i had so much fun with the classified predators mark i was running a black market ak47 and had my bleed dps at 30k dps with the shrapnel talent for a chance to spread the bleed to near by targets and would wipe whole squads if everything popped and i could catch them off guard 1v1 it was fair fire crest was a hard build to beat that burn dot was for real 🤣
Playing the dark zone in division was one of my favorite memories from that era of gaming, I actually was obsessed by it. Where it failed was the lack of endgame, you got to the highest dark zone tier pretty quick and the loot was just pointless after that. But damn that original playtime was legendary
Division's Dark Zone atmosphere and sense of dread was incredible. The setting was unparalled. The survival mode felt DESPERATE as you said. But it just made me want something else. "I wish this was in first-person. I wish this wasn't an RPG, so tactics and positioning would matter. I wish the survival elements weren't just in a game mode no one plays." Eventually I realized I was describing Escape from Tarkov. For better or for worse, I now have over 2000 hours in THAT game.
During the lockdowns of the COVID pandemic me and my friend have bought Div1 and played like never before. The feeling of living in a pandemic ridden world irl and ingame at once added this eerie atmospheric vibe to it. I will never forget. I've never had as much fun as back then, trying to save what's left after the Dollar Flu. The details in most parts of maps were awesome. The peak of this was survival, where the isolation and randomness of the game added a hint of feeling lost to this concotion. The second one is all right, haven't hit as hard as the first. That year or a half was the best fun I've ever had in any looter shooter ever.
i'll always love the division, used to play with my dad all the time and was the one thing we bonded over most before he passed. sappy shit aside it genuinely was a great game and the atmosphere was great.
I love division one, it was a simpler time. So many hours spent fighting for my life and fighting in the dark zone. There will never be another game like it
Survival was the biggest bag fumbled by massive. A few tweeks and removing the paywall could've made it amazing. No idea why they never launched it for division 2 when the community was begging for it since day one.
OG dark zone had so much potential they could’ve expanded on - I’ll never forget completing the game for the first time and taking my first steps into the DZ - you really never knew who was gonna stab you in the back or help exfil your items with you
I remember being definitely disappointed by his game, and yet I found myself role playing more in that game than almost any other. You described it very well, that vibe Division 1 had was unmatched, especially as a lifelong New Yorker. I remember being lucky enough to visit one of the places I lived on the very limited map. It was really cool cus it was outside my level at the time but I was determined to do it anyways, enemies were scarce but I never knew when they’d show, so it was very tense as I followed my route avoiding enemies where I could. I finally had a very peaceful moment when I turned around and saw my old apartment building. Good times. I think what I wanted out of division was mainly just a few more survival mechanics even outside of quarantine zones, almost all buildings being fully explorable. These are important for encouraging exploration and making it feel more rewarding even if you’re not getting much loot from most buildings because you can stock up on supplies other than ammo and medkits. That plus the improvements division 2 made to abilities, endgame, and weapon/build variety would have kept me playing for hours on end day after day for years Survival seems like it should have been how the entire game worked, with you losing any loot you gained since your last safe house visit if you die. Had the division 1 released with the all of Survival mechanics, and a bit more freedom in the exploration, I think the rest would have come very quickly and naturally with couple years of live service support. That’s would have been a sight to see
There is nothing that I like more than people talking about stuff they find fun and interesting just because they want to share it with somebody. You've made my day friend
oh man i was thinking about this mode during a conversation about extraction shooters with a friend the other day, what a coincidence. i had never played it and didnt buy the division so i had just assumed it was pure ass but it seems like i was mistaken, this looks really cool!
It's a real solid game, especially once it was patched to shit, because it had a real rocky start with glitches/crashes/etc. One of the first Xbox One games I played! Enjoy it before Ubisoft decides to shut down the servers.
@@burakiblitz2040 underground if u want farming and survival for the experience, dz is just preds and nomads with reverse lag but you can still have a good time there
I can't believe this video is real. I love the survival game mode so much. It's one of my all time favorite game modes, across any game. Thank you for reminding me to hop on this game again. Its the only time i can actually enjoy something ubisoft has made.
My best memory from The Division was turning off hud and playing underdog, sneaking my way to the safehouses in high level regions, avoiding fights, just trying to survive. And then survival came out, which upgraded my self made game mode.
I'm so glad someone is talking about this. Division: survival, (not division) is in my top ten games of all time. I play tarkov along with other looter shooters a lot now and survival is what started it all. Truly a masterpiece in gaming. I would die to see a modern rendition of it made, Don't change anything, maybe some new maps and items, and updated graphics. That's it, that's what I want, nothing more nothing less.
One of my fondest memories in gaming comes from Div 1, the atmosphere, Survival, the Dark zone, playing the game at 10am since classes got cancelled that day. Sitting in that trench in the LMB excursion with 3 other agents battling hordes of LMB goons and once in a while hopping out to plant C4 on the APC, etc etc. I never had that with Div 2 honestly. It has left such an impression on me i've made an entire Hunter cosplay over the span of 2 years, which currently stands proudly in my room on a mannequin as i type this! Too bad my friend who was the entire reason i got Div 1 back in 2016 never really played much of it, but happy because of him i got so invested in the game. It always has a place in my heart ♥
holy shit I thought that this video was like a year or two old by a 10-100k sub channel and this utterly suprised me, goodluck man keep up the good work and never lose your style
I normally can’t stand battle royales or pvp for that matter, but Survival was something else. I would just play the PVE one but it was so good, loved getting up to the end with the last few people against the hunters.
The Division survival mode is still my favorite "battle-royale"-esq game ever. Having to lock in for an hour straight and when seeing another player having to think if you can afford to get shot at all, sprinting between fire barrels, running away from purple enemies, and just praying that you can see someone before they see you. Ugh, great times. So so so immersive and atmospheric
Having played both game for Years one thing D1 got right was the dark one the size the being able to scale buildings at different sizes going through buildings/malls chasing someone from bottom zone to top zone or being rogue and getting chased to lure someone to a area you know better then them… it was just so good!! And felt like a dark zone!!
I wish I had known Survival had a PvE mode earlier, I would've played it then. Never was a big fan of getting ganged up on in thy Dark Zone and that alone kept me from getting the DLC. Now that Ubisoft has stolen our copies of The Crew, I'm not sure I want to even pay for it to begin with. But making a Survival style game, hm... Never a bad time to start learning game dev.
I spent all of middle school and high school playing this game and playing div 2. Literally one of the best late night gaming seshs were spent on this game. Can’t even recall the countless hours I’ve spent running from dz1 all the way to dz 6 before they added dz 9 tryna run from the server while on manhunt
One of my favorite memories was having the whole server after us after like an hour on manhunt. I remember I turned around running to hold off the server so our teammate could get the manhunt. I swear to this day I saw like 30 names. It had to literally be the whole server. We got the manhunt done and two teams went rogue in rage and we died, but it was fantastic experience.
This video made me buy the game and the extension. Just for that experience and that atmosphere. Thank you. I didn't thought I could find something interesting enough about this game.
While the story isn’t at the forefront of both games, it is there. As someone who is deeply invested in the lore of the games, I can say that the story/lore is really interesting and the games have a healthy connection between gameplay and lore. If you don’t care for the story then you don’t need to worry about it but if you are someone who wants to know more, then finding the lore based comms which are usually in mission areas and well traversed areas is easy to do. Huge fan of the series and glad to see that it’s still getting traction to this day.
The thing I love about Survival in TD1 is just how it takes battle Royale mechanics while giving a reason for these to exist. You're not forced closer to the center of the map by an ever-closing ring, but by the fact you'll end up looting areas and needing to move on, and supplies and better gear can be found closer to the center of the map. The tension doesn't feel artificial, and that's an extremely difficult thing to pull off. There's nothing on the market like it in terms of atmosphere and game feel. It's also not mandatory to PvP (to the point where there is a PvE only mode) which I appreciate as a filthy casual and because PvP in the Division kind of sucks.
A buddy and I grew up in and around NYC so Division 1 hit differently, but Survival absolutely changed our brains. Used to hop in a run a match quickly all the time and even got to the point where we memorized equipment spawns. Any time it snows heavily and we are downtown IRL, Survival immediately comes to mind.
Something I've always loved about Div 1 was it felt cold, especially in Survival. I could be playing the game while it is in the middle of summer time irl, and still be be able to picture it. Always loved the atmosphere of Div 1 and ngl, always felt Div 2 was more... cartoony in comparison (even if it wasn't really). Said atmosphere both carried the game and honestly also carried the story (or lack there of) in itself. To me, it felt like everyone in the world around you was trying to survive the winter more then even the disease that had ravaged the city not long before. The bits of in game lore and side stories really carried this idea to me and even to today I think back to the game every once and awhile. Also the lighting engine did amazing for what it needed too. Though, like mentioned many times in this video. Div 1's enemies are... really tanky, sometimes to an extreme. In some of the other content of the game, basically the equivalent of dungeons of other MMOs. You can run into other versions of the hunters, of the survival mode that are mentioned. Whose AI can be extremely lacking at times and healthpools immense, with the ability to basically fully heal themselves multiple times unless. Still dangerous in their own ways, since they don't lack damage or the ability to remove a downed player from the fight entirely. But, they are the perfect example of enemies in Div 1 having too much health. Addition: Part of the reason I feel like Div 1/Survival did so well in my opinion. Was they made an atmosphere that felt bleak and even the world itself seemed to be fighting against you, and the game played into it heavily in survival. You can't always see your enemy perfectly, they can't always see you perfectly. Hell, its a good part of the reason I've personally come to enjoy Helldivers 2 in this sense. Some of those planets have horrible visibility just naturally and I love it.
Another cool detail about survival is the temperature is also affected by the wind speed as well. The slower the wind blows, the warmer it gets, but it still only goes up to like -20°C in the early game.
Holy shit I miss this mode so much! Can't say I miss playing Division 1 (all the grind eventually drained the fun out of the experience), but watching this video reminded me how well put together this game mode was and even made me miss New York having lived there briefly when I was in the US. Survival was a refuge where my gear score didn't matter and I could just soak in the vibes. It's honestly kind of relaxing in PvE mode and I had some wholesome interactions with other players, which rarely happens elsewhere in Division.
Oh wow! I never noticed the snow falling off of cars you lean on @18:18 ... THAT is dope... And you put this video out at the PERFECT time with the turmoil between EFT and other extraction games coming out. Great timing. The view counts speak volume here.
@MadmanEpic Thanks for taking the time to produce this look back at Survival! Sadly, no mention of the lesser known "Sun up run". The ambiance of experiencing the Sun rise in a Survival run is pretty unique (fog decrease, false dawn, fog increase, actual sunrise). Any Survival veterans out there that haven't done this: it's a must.
I just picked it up for $ 6.41. I do play D2 as well. I do like the fact that one was gear score based in stead of D2 using SHD levels (1000 is basically max stats) would be nice if they brought it back imo.
Time didn't forget this game. Ubisoft gave up on it before it could get anywhere. You can't make a good extract shooter if you're trying to make everyone happy all the time.
"not that hard to kill" I was in a group of 3, we found a fourth outside the dz, with a fifth tagging along in the dz. Once you have 3 players in a group, hunters get armor. They become way harder to kill, require coordination to kill, and just one armored hunter can still wreck the entire team. It took us 15 minutes to kill them all. We fought 6 of them. A 6th person came by, but got merced by the hunters and left before we could revive him. The heli only has 4 seats and I was left. I had to go find more materials for a flare gun, fight through enemies, scavenge more shots to keep my timer up by minutes (the more you use, the less effective they are), find a safehouse and craft the flaregun, before fighting my way back to extract. I died 100 feet from extract by a sniper. An awesome and tragic adventure. The hunter's toughness ruined my time. at 100 feet from extract, I had 6 minutes on my timer and the heli takes 5 to fly in. I was cutting it close when i died.
I haven't been crazy about division since it was announced in 2013 or extraction shooters in general but after finding out about this game mode (thanks to you) and both the division and the survival dlc being on cheap sale for 8 dollars. I'm going to buy the game and play it, it honestly looks fun and something i probably play for 100 something hours. The gamemode is very balanced, no pay to win content and has a great atmosphere. Thank you.
God the Survival mode of this game was always peak in my memory. Nothing has topped it yet. I will occasionally hop back in just to re-experience the mode and how great it felt. I mostly have moved on from the series, but I will NEVER forget the survival mode. Part of the wonder of the mode for me is just how well it *re-contextualizes* areas of the game that you might be familiar with from the main game. Like, the dark zone is even more hostile, and areas you might be familiar with are completely turned on their heads with the atmosphere change. It’s wonderful. By the way, loved the video.
As weird as it is, there was a Roblox game that I had played a fair bit a few years ago, and it involved running out into a snow storm to collect gear and equipment before returning to a base to defend from waves of enemies. Was quite good for being a Roblox game and the atmosphere was always great, especially the oddly high quality music and the properly voiced companion notifying you of different things... never expected to hear that music again after the game closed down. Until, when your video suddenly pops into my recommended and the track Vandra started playing. Always thought that music was just a bit too high quality to be made for some Roblox game. So thank you for this video, as it made me look into getting the game and it just so happened to be on sale on Steam as I write this, so I got the base game and the game mode for a whole 7.50, not bad at all.
The division 1 still holds the cake for my best gaming experience’s. And half of it was the bugs, watching you’re teammate turn into a ball shooting lead was something else😢
Survival's gotta be one of my all time favorite experiences of gaming in general. Can't imagine how many hours I've put into the gamemode alone. Hell, it's one of the reasons I ended up pre-ordering the sequel's special edition, even though I rarely play TD2 nowadays! (still, can't believe you didn't mention Dock Wrecks in the soundtrack section smh my head) One thing I felt worth mentioning, there's a setting that (I believe) is called Neutral Lighting. Setting it to On removes a lot of the artificial lights that are invisible for gameplay purposes. It is pretty much night and day for the lighting, it can be genuinely difficult to make out enemies, especially if you're in a brightly lit room IRL. That said, when you're just wandering the Light Zone with it enabled, scavenging for parts and dodging patrols... it is unmatched. Of course, it does make the game harder, but it's assistance to the vibe offers a risk-reward scenario, imo. Anyways, hard agree on a lot of the stuff here. I just wish there was something like it. Nothing has ever really matched the feel of my first Sunrise Run. Seeing the daylight peek through the storm clouds into the Dark Zone, with minutes on the clock, and the Hunter fight waiting... It is a thing of beauty. Modded STALKER is good, but it's just not a 100% match. And, if Ubisoft proceeds unimpeded, I may never get to experience something quite like it again. I do hope Ross Scott makes some progress, can't believe I'm now waiting on _two_ ongoing projects from him. (FM and SKG)
I have been pleading and begging for survival 2.0 for 4+ years. If it’s not in Division 3, then the devs have no clue what they are doing. I used to reply it every night for about 8-10 months. Me and a friend. We loved it. It was amazing. The presence of danger. Others trying to steal your supplies. Then once you get to the dark zone it gets just crazy. Omg it was so good. The need for meds. The need for warmth. The thirst for a good gun early. I remember so many Amazing memories playing this game mode. And yet… they didn’t add it to div 2. I will never understand why. I figured it was because they had “heart land” coming. Until they cancelled it. Now all I can hope is they just added heart land as a game mode in division 3
>Meet stragner in DZ >Clearing places after places together >Get what you want and go to Extract together >Helicopter arrives and you put ur loot in the extraction >*Warning, an agent in your vicinity has gone rogue* 10/10 would play this great game again
God damn looking at the footage, the vibe really IS that good, makes me just wanna experience the older titles that have been forgotten as we move on to the new stuff
You've convinced me to give Survival a try, looks breathtaking. The option of PvP & PvE is EXACTLY what I want in such a game - sweat mode and semi turn brain off mode. I think the rarity of players playing would even make a PvP encounter so much more tense. This is a mode that deserves a player comeback with new players joining too. Die hard fans should really push players to join in on the fun, even all these years later.
After a week of grinding for a gear piece in the dark zone, finally finding it and then having to extract it gave me the feeling that I got when I first started playing online games. Incredible
Div 1 will always have my heart, nothing beat coming home from school and loading it up. While it's snowing outside and feeling fully immersed. Even when it wasn't snowing I loved it. I played solo for the longest time, then met random people in the DZ. Where I'd then create friends that I'd grind hours upon hours for good gear. I can't explain how Div 1 made me feel, I loved it. Loved the story, loved the atmosphere, survival. Everything about that game was perfectly imperfect. It is my most played game to date. I'll stop rambling.. On another note, anyone down to hop back in? Haven't played it in a bit, I have xbox and PC!
Survival being the absolute best part of the first Division and then being completely abandoned immediately after is such a textbook Ubisoft move and its agonizing to me that they're the publisher who got to make this series.
If the light/dark zone in winter are atmospheric, freezing your ass off while dying from the virus in survival is on another level! Forever Div 1 and forever Survival! (and uhm... you CAN skip the cutscene...;)
Survival was one of the best goddamn expansions to any game of all time: the gameplay, the mechanics, the environment, the enemy design, the soundtrack - all an absolute masterpiece. I will never forget and try to play every now and again.
the adrenaline rush of having a gear set piece and trying to extract it out of the dark zone was a gaming experience like no other. mixed in with the voip it was perfect!!
BRO the amount of nalstagia 24:15 gave me. Spending 2 hours right after work just in the recap table planning out how tf I'm going to get these classified Nomad Keepads......dude goosebumps man, thank you
I played survival on release. Game was great, it made the game feel very unique. It definitely made you feel like you needed to push constantly because it wouldn't help you to stand around and "wait it out". I enjoyed it a ton and invested lots of time into it. Do wish they had something of that nature in the newest game. But onto my other experience of Div 2. I loved it, I was grinding the game almost day and night. It died down for me for awhile and then here came Warlords of New York. A friend and I bought it right away and got in. Looked up guides on specific drops, the whole nine to hit max endgame for that current state of the meta quickly as possible. Well we reached it and of course if you have played either of these games. Some of the bosses, are tanks whether you are running meta builds or not in the endgame. We had gotten our builds all put together and nice. I was running more of a tanky medic build at the time with some DPS and my friend was running almost a purely DPS build, nonetheless between the two of us we'd do pretty well in 4 player zones and such and could pretty much take out almost everything. Well thats until they added additional free content again, I remember correctly at least, some new named bosses dropped for the open world environment. We quickly got on and looked forward to seeking these guys out. In which did and then we came across one, again if I remember correctly, and we struggled time and time again. Now I'm not condoning this but this will explain my standpoint on playing Ubisoft games. My friend was always looking for exploits in any game he played, which ideally for people that mainly play PvE I seen no harm in and sometimes I participate and in sometimes I would not. This was a time where I would not because I knew it was always online and Ubisoft doesn't seem to take kindly to exploiters and cheating, which makes sense and I completely understand that. But nonetheless, my friend finds an exploit and if you played at this time it became very popular. You could mount a minigun and then dismount while I believe opening your inventory at the same time and it would multiply your DPS. If I recall it was essentially unlimited so you could make a pistol one shot anything. Nonetheless we are playing and he does it A LOT, we are running areas and he is just walking thru these zones. Highest world tier and so on so forth. Well they had a ban wave and I guess because I was in his game or he was in mine, doesn't really matter they removed all my loot and banned me. Well ironically they did not ban him. I was just obliterated by this, I felt almost betrayed (again I'm not surprised at this point anymore because well, Ubisoft. But also big money corp and all that jazz) and felt as if I would stop playing the game from that point on. And sure enough I did, I haven't touched a Ubisoft game since. Unfortunately being the casualty of a ban wave and it being what I seen as a wrongful banning I just couldn't wrap my head around buying another Ubisoft game from there on out. I mean even down to the point where if I remember correctly they continued with some more free content updates for Div 2 and I recall seeing it and with the exact reaction of *sigh* "Too bad I was wrongfully banned" and just kept rolling with whatever game I was playing at the time. Disclaimer to this above. I totally understand Ubisofts point on exploits and cheating on top of that feeling that maybe an associated party being banned may be needed to get a point across. Also the ban was only for like 7 days I believe which is when I logged back in and found that my equipment had been wiped. Beautiful game but with the route Ubisoft has taken since the first game dropped of being more MTXs and more costly but yet more bare gameplay and content I've still refused to play their games. Again it's at no surprise but I do recall the good ole days of these games and just wanted to share my experience of why I quit playing them and what facts reinforce that idea. Also to madman, great video, keep it up!
Div 1 dark zone running a 4 stack on man hunts taking on the entire dark zone with infinite sticky bomb build truly the most fun early times of gaming I ever had forever cherish it
I only discovered The Division series in June 2023 and Div1 took no time at all in becoming my favorite game of all time. I still play it to this day. Now I do have nearly 500-hours in Div2 because in many ways it's just a superior title, but still...Div1 is unmatched in raw, unfettered, savage style and atmosphere.
God ive missed this game mode so much, it was one of my fav things to play after i got bored of farming god rolls, I stopped playing it a few years back because queue times just took so long i thought it was dead, despite all its flaws, I miss the days I played Division with my friends
Hey, Mad. You mentioned about the atmosphere of Division and the gameplay of Stalker. May I enlighten you to Stalker Gamma modpack with the INVERNO Winter mod? You can change the weather to make it constantly have a snow storm by the way
What great video, I really enjoyed Survival when it released. Looking back this may have been my first extraction shooter back before I went full on PC gaming. Ola Strandh's music is great in these games and I'm still waiting for the day Ubisoft releases the music to all the incursions from Div 1.
I enjoyed The Division and the Dark Zone was so cool to experience back in the day, but Survival was definitely my favourite part of it. The atmosphere is top notch and there's some great ideas in it, it needed a little bit more polish and it could have easily been it's own game. As always though a game mode being DLC is always going to have a low player base which is a shame. If it was one of the default modes in the 2nd game, it probably would have gotten more traction with how extraction shooter and battle royale titles were gaining popularity around the time. Great video on this awesome mode!
I actually played through these games again earlier last year. and they both still hold up imo. Div 1 has the best atmosphere and honestly looks better imo. But Div 2 is without a doubt the better of the two and has a great community. I def recommend yall return to them. They are onsale often too for like $2 for Div 1 and $10 or less for Div 2.
The Final Version on the original Division was one of the most fun I've ever had playing games. The setting, the snow, darkzone, survival, the broken builds that made pvp chaotic, even underground; everything about the first Division was sooooooooo good i miss it so much.
I'm yet another sleeper div 1 survival madman... I even worked on the game while I was still at Ubisoft and convinced most of my friends to play it with me / for me. You just made me miss it very much so I will give it another go, but it is such a missed opportunity not to capitalise on that market slice, especially since the graphics and core gameplay is still relevant to this day.
Division 1 will always have a special place in my heart, me and my girlfriend met in the beta and we’ve been together over 8 years now. Plus the vibes are simply unbeatable.
I remember getting PS4 Pro for Christmas in 2016 together with Division 1 and the atmosphere at the time was surreal. 8 years later and I still haven't felt how I felt back then. I have tried playing Division 2 alone and with friends but it just lacks that atmosphere that Div 1 has even today. The closest game to The Division 1 for me was The Last of Us on PS3 that I got on Christmas 2015, together with the multiplayer mode. The remaster for PS4 was still good but I feel like the multiplayer mode had better atmosphere than the single player in that remaster. "Wish we could turn back time, to the good ol’ days"
Division is still unmatched, graphically stunning, great gameplay for the time, and nice story. Honestly its still one of the few games that you can boot up and be visually amazed.
I could just walk for hours still be awwed especially on snow storm and still not get bored in The division 1 that never happened with any other game honestly. It will always have a favourite place in my heart no matter what anyone says
