Hey! Thanks for watching today’s video! I’m getting quite a few comments about the environmental issues regarding single use sheet masks. That, naively enough, I didn’t even think about! So I’d love to know your go to mask or even serum ( as THATS what sheets masks are basically good for!) that you would swap sheet masks out for! 🙏🏼
Try layering a nice sprits, or several layers of moisturizing toner/serum with a more occlusive mask. Have you tried TO marine hyaluronics? You can smother yourself in it without worrying about the wallet. Sheet masks are just glorified (and often very simple in formulation) moisture serums and would not do any good either way of you didn't seal in the moisture afterwards. Sheet masks are hard to replace right, at least the pampering part of it, but I really don't think it's very necessary if you have a complete skin care routine and healthy skin barrier. 😊
First of all, James thank you for addressing this. Sheet masks, eye patches, makeup wipes and daily toning and exfoliating pads are incredibly wasteful. When it comes to replacements, if you really love and need the 'sheet masking' process you can seal an abundant amount of essence/serum on your face with a reusable silicone mask [check out Michelle's review labmuffin.com/daiso-silicone-sheet-mask-review/ ]. Otherwise, there are wash off and sleeping masks that will nourish and moisturize your skin with less of an environmental impact. To name a few wash off masks: skinfood - honey, rice and black sugar masks, i'm from - honey, rice, ginseng, vitamin tree and mugwort masks. Sleeping packs/masks: cosrx - rice and honey overnight masks, innisfree - black tea and green tea masks, youth to the people superberry glow mask, fresh vitamin nectar mask, bonajour mugwort mask, huxley good night mask... There is an abundance of products on the market, do your research and buy what you think will suit your skin. In the end, it's all about the ingredient list and the king - formulation.
Thank you for taking our opinions into consideration. It means a lot that you are listening to us. I'd rather use a wash off mask or a sleeping mask anytime. Maybe you could do a video on your favourite masks for different purposes - ( brightening, detoxifying,etc.). You could mention masks that you would use before a big event or masks that you use frequently. Or review new masks like the some by mi yuja niacin sleeping mask . Always adore you for the efforts you put into your videos.
jar masks > sheet masks. :) “In the case of sheet masks, there’s a pouch, the mask, and sometimes the mask is wrapped in a plastic sheet.” Usually, none of the components are recyclable and all of them end up in the trash post sheet-masking session, making it one of the more wasteful things one can do in 20 minutes or less.
A'pieu sells 33 sheet masks in a tin box. I know it's still a lot of waste because you throw away the sheet mask afterwards but it's already less packaging.
Sheet masks, eye or lip patches, make up wipes are exactly like plastic straws. These are "one time use" products that create so much waste which lead to more environmental pollution. 😶🍂
Plastic straws can be a lifeline for disabled people. I don't think sheet masks are lifelines and shouldn't be compared to straws. Unless you're only discussing the average person. Though while we should be doing all to help, it's not down to the average person that the sea is full of crap, it's down to corporations, especially people who fish and don't clean up after themselves. Have a good day :)
I found you yesterday and I'm genuinely bingeing the hell out of your videos, I haven't binged a RU-vidr like this since I was like 14 or something lmao
I saw you and your brother Robert’s. video on my timeline and was so confused for like a whole minute 😨😨😨😨, both of you look so much alike and sound alike but your face is deeper. He does makeup reviews and you do skincare, please do a video together where you guys swap skin care products and routine and see how it turns out 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Someone says that masks should tingle, that it means it's working. And others say it should , that burning or tingling means it's tooo strong for you. It's so confusing 🤦🏻♀️
James I love you I was literally googling hydrating masks! What do you think of the summer Fridays stuff like their jetlag mask and sleeping masks in general?
I prefer masks in jars, but I also feel they should all sell smaller sizes as your skin changes through the seasons and I hardly finish up a mask like I go through a moisturizer.
James can you please not recommend sheet masks? :( they can only be used once (twice if you save the leftover serum) and they always come in unnecessary non recyclable plastic packaging. I've been really trying to make conscious choices with the stuff the I use. I would love to see you do the same. However, I also understand it's a personal choice and I get it if you can't.
Hi. I just wondered are gel rather than sheet eye patches also bad for the enviroment? Im trying to be more eco friendly and i really would love to know. Thanks xxxx
the way ive just been staring at the bottom of the mirror tryna decipher who that is even tho i think i know who it is, btw love your videos btw so informative and ive learnt a lot about what im doing wrong and what i could improve on always thank you
Love your videos 😊 I ordered a multipack of innisfree sheet masks from Yesstyle for the first time ever, a few months ago and am loving trying them all!
Timing..😄 i was just looking up youtube videos for which face mask to buy and found that you uploaded one. Was already interested in the I'm from honey mask. Just wanted someone to confirm it. Now I'm also considering the eye patches. I admire you for providing giveaways but I've got to say I do not support the use of sheet masks simply because of the amount of waste that it leads to in terms of environment as well as money. The only sheet masks I still have are the ones I receive as freebies when I make skincare orders.
There are different face masks that do different things. Clay masks detoxify the skin removing excess dirt and oils deep in the pores. There are also hydrating masks such as the honey one.
Thank goodness you reviewed The honey mask. I was not so sure about the texture and how it will be once its one the face ! Thanx for the little video you showed about the same !!! 🌟🕺🏻
I’m kinda new to sheet masks. I’ve used clay masks for years even when I am not having any issues. I use them because they help to remove excess oils and dirt that are deep in my pores. I use the Innisfree Jeju Hydrating clay mask as well as my Freeman Dead Sea salt clay mask each once a week. Now the Freeman Mask is very cheap but it’s effective. Right now as far as sheet masks I’m using the FarmStay Green Tea seed masks. I’m still trying to feel my way around when it comes to sheet masks. I haven’t truly figured out which kind is the best in my regimen. Love your videos James! ♥️
love wearing eye patches under sheet masks! double the goodness haha. have you tried the Benton Snail Bee Ultimate Hydrogel Eye Patch? they're water-soluble so you can use it as a body mist after! 😋
I love the idea of sheet masks but I am LAZY and can't deal with all the fiddling and wrangling to get them out of the package, unfolded and onto my face. I keep some individually packaged hydrogel varieties on hand for traveling, and in the fridge special occasions and tragic bleak hangover mornings (a tip from Lisa Eldridge's channel, therefore it is classy and I feel no shame!!). My favorite less waste/packaging masks are: MAKEP:REM In-Shower Face Pack!! Not a new product but so great as you can use it even if you're in a time crunch getting ready for work in the morning and it feels like you get the benefits of an extended/indulgent skincare routine without all the work. I also use tretinoin (.05% gel) or Avibon A313 nightly and I find that this mask does an amazing job of fixing the perplexing combo of puffiness and all-over fine lines/crepe paper-y dehydrated skin I sometimes have in the AM (usually before I shed my skin like a lizard, yay retinol). Daiso Reusable Silicone Face Mask-- the description on Amazon says it's for using over sheet masks to further prevent evaporation and enhance absorption, but I use it by itself (as per many recommendations in the reviews) to 'transform' products I already have into a face mask. I really like The Ordinary Caffeine serum applied all over my face along with a Hada Labo HA product (usually the premium toner or perfect gel) for puffiness. The Ordinary Matrixyl and niacinamide also work beautifully combined with an HA toner, as do all sorts of sleeping masks/packs. You just apply a thicker than usual layer of literally anything and put the silicone mask on top and leave on just like a sheet mask. Instead of throwing it away you rinse it clean. All the fun of scaring your friends/relatives/partner with your sheet mask face but without all the fiddly packaging 👍🏼 And lastly, Innisfree Jeju Clay Mask--the blue (Hydrating) tube. Applied with one of those cheapie silicone face mask brushes. Great non-drying clay mask that makes your skin feel so smooth and dreamy and NOT tight, and the brush applicator wastes less product and keeps your fingers clean for the sheet mask convenience feeling minus the sheet mask.
I still have not used my N.Republic AHA & BHA treatment masks-- liked your tips. Want to try the I'm from - Honey Mask. Favorite sheet mask is the Mamonde Eoseongcho (Pore Care)-- this is a Super THICK blob of amazing goo-serum that lasts for Days! It is the perfect one for when my skin is irritated or just needs some pampering. Enjoyed the video. Cheers!
It's like you knew I needed this video! I'm running out of my favorite clay mask and I asked myself is there a better one or does my skin need this and half a day later this video 😂😂
I know this is like a year later but for anyone who suffers or might suffer from bee sting allergies DO NOT use the I'm From Honey mask because as James said it does contain bee venom (aka the stuff from the sting). Really sad that I can't try it :(
DearJames, i have an oilly skin with a lot of large pores on my cheeks, nose and chin. I use for a couple of weeks a lot of COSRX products and still waiting for the results. But my big trouble on my face is a MELASMA darkness on my both cheeks. I would like to know what kind of brand or product i have to use. Please help me. I'm a big fan of you from Holland. I always buy my skin care products also on YESSTYLE, i love the site so much but i don't realy know a lot of brand for my skin problems. So please again HELP me. Thank you a lot James. GBU always😀👍💋💋💋
Hi James! I was hoping to get your James Welsh's Daily Glow Starter Kit on Wishtrend, but it's not available anymore. Are you thinking on maybe using another website?
I actually like the look of crow's feet too. I don't know why but eyes that crinkle in the corners look so pretty to me, like they have an extra boost of smilyness.
Can somebody please help me or you james that would be the best I removed a few moles with laser 2 months ago and know its rednnes around that area Can you please give me skin care on how remove or minimaze it
I'd be really interested to hear what you think of the Jaxon Lane Bro Mask! The name makes me cringe, but I've really enjoyed using it so far. It's a bit larger than a lot of korean masks, so it covers my face better, and it's cut into a top and bottom half to help work around a beard. I know you don't buy into men's vs women's products, but facial size and beards are a pretty clear difference to work around in a sheet mask.
What do you think of the sheet masks that require you to rinse with warm water? I’ve been experimenting with By Nature witch hazel and tea tree sheet masks.
A honey mask i just started trying is the farmacy one, it heats up as you massage it...i have the small jar (part of the minis pack) and am considering getting the full size one after i finish this one. It looks like honey, smells good, not sticky at all....I'd say give it a try if you haven't already.
I'm eyeing I'm From Ginseng Mask, I'll probably snatch it when i have some spare money. If anyone has tried it, I would love to hear your thoughts. I personally prefer masks in jars, sheet masks annoy me kinda lmao (but I like Benton Goodbye Redness and the Soon Jung line one, they're nice and calming)
Hi James! Thanks for your informative videos. I have 2 questions. 1. Can you use a sleepmask everyday? 2. On a lot of wash-off mask it says use 1-2 times a week. But can you use other wash-off masks on other days or is that too much for the skin? I really hope you are able to reply!
Hi James, looks like there are lot of folks that aren't about sheet masks and I get so don't feel bad. It's a phenomenon that will hopefully go away. In the meantime I love the I'm from Honey Mask. It really does make my skin feel good.
Hi James, you should definitely try sheet masks from Abib and Real Barrier. They’re really good and you can get them from Olive Young (they’ve just started to ship internationally) 😉 Let me know what you think after trying them. Have a great week ahead 😘
Love face masque!❤ Can you buy them on Amazon? We like to see a video on very, very, very.......sensitive, sensitive, sensitive, dry, dry, and dry skin!🤦🏽♀️😭✌🏽❤
@James Welsh Thank you, great and informative (as always). I have a question I've wanted to ask you for quite a while, so even a bit of topic - what are your thoughts on peptides in skincare - as an ingredient in serums or creams? Unless I've missed, you seem not to mention them, so you are not that interested? If so, I would like to hear why? I respect your opinion. Thanks
Omg I'm studying in Reading right now, just for this term. So I'm gonna have to go to london for the Nature Republic shop for sure! 😃 I was wondering where I can get my korean skincare here
