It sounds good and exciting, but the fact that there is zero transparency with their pricing, it's a no from me. I don't even have a ballpark of what the pice tiers could be and I thoroughly navigated the site looking.

My guess is they don't have it on the site because they're free right now. But I can see in the backend that there are 2 tiers, a free tier and a Pro tier at $25/mo that removes branding, gives a custom domain and priority support.

It seems like great place to start . However getting your fans onto the page is still very much the main issue for building your audience . I would only be suggesting this for bands or artists that have a sizeable fan following already.

While it's free to sign up they don't seem to make it easy or even available to see pricing for various tiers which I'm sure they offer??? I'm always skeptical of any site that won't give you pricing info upfront

They have a free plan but then they have a Pro plan for $25/mo that launches January 2024.

Yes I saw they have a free plan but you have to sign up and without knowing what is included in the free vs. Paid and how much the paid levels are I'm not going to spend time signing up. That is all info they should have clearly available unless of course they have something to hide or it's a bait and switch. It's like saying hey sign up for my newsletter and I'll give you something free but not telling them what it is. Would you?

Enjoyed the video, but I must say, it's not the best practice to offer sign-ups for a service that will eventually have a fee without providing any clarity on the future costs. Transparency is key for building trust with potential users.

I'm still using Drip, I have so many long and detailed automation workflows and Zapier integrations with that. I think this is best for people who don't have a list yet, who are looking for something free / cheap or aren't going to make their email marketing super in depth.

Great stuff, Andrew. How do you think the current relative "obscurity" of Rivet might affect fan signup? Do you think a service as Patreon might make fans feel more at ease dealing with an entity they're familiar with?

It could impact things. However i'd imagine it'd be the same for artists who do their own memberships on their own website. The average fan won't know what Rivet is (at least not yet), so they'll assume its the artist's own platform. Patreon is a great platform too. The only downside about them is they take 9-12% of revenue. I wonder how many regular fans actually use Patreon too though. For example as artists we all know about platforms like Bandcamp and Soundcloud. But ask a random selection of 10 people about them and 9/10 generally will have no idea what either of those platforms are. Patreon is probably more mainstream because its used by so many giant RU-vid and social media creators, but i'm not sure how mainstream it actually is.

The e-mail open rates can range from 25-30%, BUT the click rates are very very tiny. So much so, that one has to question the value of mailing lists.

The click rates are lower, but in general click rates on email are around reach rates on social media. People often get 3-8% click rates in email, which is about the same as reach rates on social. Email marketing also has a higher sell rate than social, and gives you a way to reach a bunch of fans for free with no algorithms or ad platforms getting in the way.

I think the issue is with this is you still don't own it so the language is misleading. The platform is still very likely go down, or change their pricing structures. It has the same issues as all platforms.

The thing is with them and any email platform, you can simply download your list and upload it to a new platform. I’ve switched email platforms 4 times over the years, it’s generally not a big deal.

Yea that is true! I think it’s more the community running tools that are becoming part of the play. As in this in your ‘hub’ / or world to run community in, and moving a community is hard when they become used to the home of that community. You may well be able to keep emailing them, but I guess we are looking for management tools now beyond an email list, and working out where to do that is hard
