I would rather not see risk increased in the salvage gameplay loop. It's relaxing and fun, the risk should come from outside sources like having to risk Pyro because the most wrecks are there etc. Not everything needs to be inherently high risk.

Yeah I think people just want some kind of mini game like with mining to make it a little more interesting. The hull scraping is great, but this video didn't mention that with the structural salvage, you have to be at an optimal distance to have it work the fastest which I think works really well because it adds something for you to do in the culture and adds a communication element in the reclaimer

I mean I think there should be some risk (I.E. Volatile components, leaky pipes with dangerous gas/liquid, and potential fire risks if its not vented) the kind of stuff you have to deal with if you go full on into a salvage wreck trying to get all the goodies without crunchin and munchin all the good stuff I like the relaxed nature, but not all of it should be relaxed, salvage itself should have some risk

@@peaceanquiet4528 agreed. I think this needs to be the long term goal. Which, the current setup is clearly a temporary solution. So they may have something more like that in mind. Mining has advanced a long way since it started, so I'm hopeful for what they do with Salvage in the long term.

Maybe just a simple system like “component stability” where if you fracture without removing the components first, you have to be careful to not turn the fracturing field to too high of a power level or you destabilize the components, and if you do it too much they explode. Not too much danger to your ship if they do, unless you’re right up on it, and the risk can be completely mitigated by entering the target ship and removing components first. (And possibly purging quant fuel too, once we get better fuel systems)

I did a bunker mission and it was definitely tougher than before. Really struggled to kill the more heavily armoured NPCs, and the FS-9 was shooting all over the place. Also, the NPCs now have very different behaviours. The heavily armoured ones being more aggressive and actually trying to come get you, while the others took cover almost all the time.

I think the ship munching just need a visual update otherwise too many things in the game require a mini game so having something thats easy to do is very welcomed. Hunting down ships is going to be enough work.

Today is the first time this year I actually enjoyed playing Star Citizen. I spent three hours mining, refining, running cargo and buying equipment without a bug, glitch, 30k or even a hiccup. Could this possibly be the first time ever that I can play Star Citizen through the Christmas Holidays without rage quitting because of the total dumpster fire the game has always been at the end of the year? After all these years of patiently waiting I sure hope so. Merry Christmas Citizens! o7 😎👍

It makes sense, the last thing they'd want is to add the Replication Layer, go on break, and meanwhile everything breaks and explodes for everyone. Better to do that while everyone's in the studio!

As a non-player and passive SC content enjoyer I want to see more features, that allow players to interact in a stable manner. Creating environments, NPCs and lore is hard and takes time. But for content creators these features are only temporary and only worth a handful of videos. Reliable interactionability is the real entertainment multiplier, imo. It's what made Minecraft big.

BTW the hover vehicles are viewed as ground vehicles now, meaning when you go to a bunker on one the turrets won't shoot at you. It's great for all us Paramadics ;)

Today a buddy and me went on the Wake of a Disaster salvaging mission with his reclaimer. We got 3 ships; 2 Hercules A2 and a Carrack. All 3 had cargo, both legal and illegal, plus the salvage and munching itself. In 3 hours (we were taking our time), we got 8 milion credits selling everything.

6:28 this is insane for nomad owners! The ladder entry basically means you need to softdeath the ship in order to pirate the cargo, and now there is no quick way to yoink off containers at ground pads.

I was so unbelievably happy to see that my Vulture was still in my fleet since I bought it in game. I'm so excited to try it out now! Also seeing you hover on water on stream was so dope. Those shots just hit right!

I'm actually kinda glad they're not pushing the replication layer out before everyone leaves for the holidays. Imagine how bad it would be if the game were LITERALLY completely unplayable for 3 weeks because of some unforeseen bug. At least if something like that happens when everyone is in the office we could reasonably expect a quick turnaround for a fix.

Honestly, considering how we came into this year with the warning that, with CIG pouring most of its focus and resources into Squadron 42, Star Citizen would only get a few small updates, I'm actually really pleasantly surprised by how much has actually been added since the end of 2022 - and how much has been shown (not just _said,_ but _shown)_ to be on its way, including the first working iteration of server meshing. A good example is the structural salvage demonstrated in this video. Just a few months ago, a developer showed us a basic prototype for that feature using placeholder assets. Now, here it is, fully functional, and fully animated, with bespoke assets and visual effects for two different ships. It's great to see these things evolve, but it's even better to see such swift progress during what was promised to be a "slow year." Good work, everyone at CIG, and thanks Morph for showcasing these updates so beautifully.

Was playing around with structural salvage with my reclaimed I dusted off after years of never being used lol. Pretty impressed with the mechanic. Also new babbage isn't a massive lagfest at the space port.

I did some Vulture testing last night, the total capacity is actually 36 SCU. Downside, you can't sell off-grid boxes anymore. So you can put 12 on the grid, 11 around the grid, and 13 in the buffer, but only sell 12 at a time. With the higher returns for RMC and MC, it's definitely an upgrade but with some tedium.

It seemed to be a limited test meshing something other than the environment together, I’m not sure. I think it might have been the comms servers only. I’m looking into it.

You missed on structural salvage you can't fracture/disintegrate metal panels found in gas clouds like CRU L1, you can only do that with ships.

With regards to the structural salvage section, it should be mentioned that it's more of a placeholder until Maelstrom arrives, at which point they're going to try to make it closer to the original concept. No idea how much closer it's going to be, but hopefully the Reclaimer's claw will function more like a claw than an array as they'll actually be able to physically tear sections of ships off.

I think they will add better salvage animations with the Malstrom tech. we may be stuck with the last stage disintegration "magic beam", but I'm confident we will get a semi fee cutting beam to replace the fracturing portion (cutting on pre determined lines).

Interesting how the AI players notice their friend has "taken ill", undertake an investigation for 15 seconds, conclude that the human player was the culprit (probably via DNA testing) and finally, open fire!

I think it's some pretty huge progress that what WASN'T mentioned in this video was a massive uptick in 30k's. Seriously, I played for two or three hours, yesterday, and didn't experience anything of the sort. This, on a new patch. Traditionally, the last patch of the year leaves us with a huge increase in 30k's and no devs in the office to do anything about it. So, progress!

They removed the shields from most(all?) of the bikes, and let the X1 Force keep one. Unless they change course, the Force is never getting a second generator.

I kinda hope salvage is a three-step process: - Step 1: Hull scrape. Strip those materials and "loosen" components, weapons and hatches, and reveal more intel to salvage scanners. Careful you don't scrape a missile or weapon part though, damage means less value and more risk of it blowing up in your face. - Step 2: EVA and strip out valuable and still-functional parts, and neutralize hazardous materials. Scanners aboard the ship can guide in EVA scrappers to essential parts. This is where the risk is, compounding as the process goes forward, because... - Step 3: Crack the ship. If there _are_ still volatile materials you missed, if you're lucky they explode as it cracks and roughs up your ship, or you ID the issue before it gets out of hand. If you're _unlucky_ (or just unobservant), you could suck those materials into your grinder to catastrophic effect. Sucking up an atmospheric air scrubber might just be "what was that crunch" but imagine if you accidentally sucked up a reactor or missile? If you did steps 1 and 2 right, you can just speedrun this stage as the reward!

A bug fix for mining was introduced in 3.22 which addresses the split stack issue, where stacked resources sometimes fail unless you split into single item stacks.

You missed the best thing. You have unlimited coffee when you respawn. I walked around Area 18 for like 2 hours with a cup of coffee in my hand until I got a 30k disconnect to remind me what I was playing... I look forward to the "An Architect Reviews" of the new Rambler... I think it was a needed enhancement. (I ended up wedging the aforementioned cup of coffee in like the top shelf on the Cutter, due to no better option)

I think it’s a good thing they’re waiting on the replication layer. Deep down nobody wants a brand new untested network technology deployed when there’s nobody there to monitor it. Best to just do the prep work before the break and deploy it first thing when they get back. Been waiting for 10 years, I can wait a couple more weeks :)

Well the replication layer is being tested in an experimental build right now. Seems like they are just doing soak testing so I hope we get some fast development once they get back from break.

Until I can build a house/base or settlement I don't see any reason to play. But in the meantime all of these changes are great and I cant believe how much they speed up. Spitting 1 update after another. I just hope that the reason behind having Stanton as the only star system was to develop, test and polish the star system creating process and they start releasing more star systems soon. As far as I remember they wanted to have like 100 star systems. Surely they don't mean to take another few decades with those.

I want a 400a!! They might still add proper hull munching. They said they need the Maelstrom tech for it to work, but knowing how insanely difficult and performance-intensive the mechanic is and seeing how careful they were with their wording, I think there is a good chance we will have to content with the current system for the most part.

Heya Morph, FYI on the hoverbikes... all bikes now have the shields removed, however as the X1 Force was supposed to have two shields it now has 1 singular shield instead, still making it an anomaly among the other hoverbikes

One thing that I wish they would have done is and I feel like they're going to do this. If pyro and this system would work especially well with pyro, but make each one of the derelict. Outposts have a reputation system based on the planet that they're on. So, for example, the Hurst and their elected outposts. Would have its own Reputation, and then the microcech one would have its own reputation. Reputation would go down if you do the Evict illegal occupants missions, but of course, if you do them, you get a bunch of free gear not to mention 30000 A. U. E, c, however, if you don't do them, I would like to see them. Add shops that only sell the best items to the people with the highest reputation. And there would be some unique items there. Nothing overpowered, but definitely something for a crowd that. Doesn't exactly like to work within the law weather. That's commodities like drugs that you can buy at a slightly discounted rate. For something else not to mention. I would like these derelict outpost to see air defenses. At least in the settled systems I. Also, would like to see some form of air defense in pyro. As while these are make shift settlements, you can definitely make a make shift missile launcher. That's quite the threat to any ship. Thus making ground combat more viable. So, for example, you would have to park your ship further off and make your way up on foot And for the ones that are out at sea, those will let you land on them. If you have a high reputation. The same would GO for the land-based ones. If you have a high reputation, you can land close. If you have a low reputation, they're not gonna let you get close because you're a Threat, of course, now it shouldn't be easy to try and kill anywhere from 32 to a 100 N PC's not to mention this would extremely incentives. Bomber play now that we have Bombers at both ends of the size and price range. This would be a fantastic edition. It would require players in the p u two actually work together to do some of these missions rather than allowing a solo to do This mission because at the end of the day the game isn't MMO. And while there should be missions for solos, AK the bunker clearing missions. Which can easily be done by 1 person. These larger open combat missions should require at least a team of 2 to 3 people. And you shouldn't be able to kill everybody from just being in your ship and hovering there and while I realized that with mastermodes. Of course, we won't be able to hover like we can now in game. Even with master modes, you would still be able to hover for a time practical enough to kill these n. PC's also another thing you can do is you can just give the. N PC's rail guns and tell any n PC's that spawn in with rail guns that they are only ever allowed to target ships with rail guns and that they would have to swap weapons before being able to engage players on the ground. Of course, this would need to come with improve the A. I. But that is just something you can do instead of setting up like mistletoe. You can just have a rail gun N p c's

Are you Nordic by any chance. I remmber learning that what we in america call blonde or dirty blonde is not considered so in some other countries.

@@dozergames2395 Yes and correct. I am what here is called 'high blonde', which is as blonde as it gets. What they call blonde in Spain is considered brown here. I can imagine that is similar in the US.

Quick tip, don't surrender in this patch if you have 3 crim stat. A lot of people( me included) will get stuck in a black screen after pressing the button + restarting the game will make you crash on loading before the main menu. Fresh installation and switching PCs won't change anything, the account is corrupt and for now there is no support from the RSI team. You'll lock yourself out of playing the game for god knows how long. Stay safe o7

Hold on now. The santokyai has the feature that the syulen has. It flies rather well with up to 2 engines left. Havent tried only 1 though haha

It even gets way faster to run away with around 20G of forward acceleration when it loses its wings 😂 Really love that we have it in game and finally a new medium Fighter.

Salvaging is fantastic. Also, in regards to your referral gift. The referrer will get theirs immediately, but the referred person won't get it until the end of luminalia on january 8th. It's not that long of a wait for some awesome armor, in my opinion, but do with it what you will.

Let's be fair, though, they could have rolled out the replication layer and server meshing testing to scale as early as October, but it would have broken everything like PES did. So it's not like it was delayed due to some unforeseen circumstances, it was just delayed because CIG said they didn't want to disrupt the live service again, which is highly unfortunate, because I wouldn't have minded if things broke if it meant finally getting the final piece of large tech out the door.

I really wanted to pursue salvage as a main game loot, simply because I was excited about that claw on the reclaimer. This magic disintegration beam is disappointing I really hope the change this in the future.

They are testing server meshing and rep layer btw... just very limited. But all in alll nice ql patch for crimbo aint bad and tbh even 30ks for me very rare and when it does happen i log back in the same place i was lol so all good! gunna do some mining testing to see how thats changed as i cant find any vids on an update. happy xmas morph!
