I agree. I think Max and Ilia are better boxers but Volk def has the better kickboxing. I also could see him as the best wrestler since Aljo is more of a bjj guy
I think that is why Volk became champion and stayed champion for a while. He was good at everything but not necessarily the best. He was better than his opponent in other areas. He was always trying to improve such as he did for the third Max fight. His downfall was chasing the champ-champ status refusing to accept he lost the first Islam fight the same way Max refused to accept he lost the second Volk fight. Going into the rematch on ten days notice is a bad idea and rushing back in 4 months later after that brutal knockout was also a bad idea.

First fight max was more worried about the takedowns and wrestling of volk, that's why he was surprised by his striking, in the second fight, he adapted to the leg kicks and striking by using the muay thai stance, he won the 3 rounds by dropping volk once in 2nd or 3rd, then volk wrestled and got the win which was a robbery, close fights aren't robberies, decisive ones are. 3rd fight max took a narrower stance to defend TD's and put a lot of weight on his lead leg, volk went bald and became super saiyan, just shut max down completely because of the leg kicks. Because imagine you're max, you decide to fight volk, when you prep for striking, he wrestles, when you prep for wrestling he strikes

I feel like people forget how good Usman really was at wrestling. I think Kamaru Usman is a much better wrestler than Belal Muhammad even in todays standard, I don’t see Belal having any success with his wrestling against Leon after what he did to Usman
i picked belal because he’s been more active than usman therefore has showcased his wrestling a lot more, last usman fight showed how good his cardio and striking was but not his wrestling
Krylov (if he isn't dead) could work for LHW Jiu Jitsu and Dolidze could work for MW Jiu Jitsu. Dolidze had some great moments on the ground with Hermansson which is difficult to do. He's also won gold at an ADCC Asia trials.
My picks Mokhaev over Pantoja in pure wrestling Umar over Merab in wrestling (Merab is more of a pressure guy) Volk is a better kickboxer than Max, Movsar is a better wrestler than Aljo(Aljo struggled to takedown O'Malley but Movsar was managed to outwrestle Lopes) Volkan Oezdemir is a better pure boxer than Jamahal with nice combinations . @@nutsackmma Pantoja is also a stinker on the ground. Merab's performance against Cejudo was excellent. But against Yan and Aldo, he was just spamming takedowns without output. I think Umar is a better wrestler than him. But you are right he's not yet proven at a higher level

@@nutsackmma Gane beat Volkov in a pure kickboxing match no flash KO or stoppage, just a decision win so there is no excuse for Volkov to be over Gane. Gane made Ngannou resort to wrestling to beat him. And Pavlovich isn't that good, he has power but skill wise he has been exposed.
@@JT76912 Gane and volkov fought 3 years ago btw, Gane's last win was against sergei spivac a year ago and Volkovs last win was a recent win against pavlovich, As of right now Volkov has been a better kickboxer than Gane, and both of them did well agaist Tai but Gane got dropped in that fight while Volkov didnt

As i said Gane beat Volkov in a pure striking match, there is no excuse to put him above Gane when we've already seen it play out, it being 3 years ago doesn't matter, Sergei is overrated and i had Volkov beating Sergei by decision. Volkov was coming of two KO wins of Walt Haris and Overeem arguably the best striker the heavyweight division has had. Gane beat Volkov proving he is the superior striker, end of story.
