I've seen mid beginners skaters buy ice flys (they couldn't yet do all the single jumps), and I have overtures that can easily last to double jumps ! so I wondered which skate shop recommended professional boots to a skater who started ice skating 1 year and a half ago...

Thanks for the info. Ice skating sure has ⛸️ changed since My days. I skated in Sp teri skates with an MK blade since I was a teenager. They have a wooden heal which is very heavy.But I could easily land a waltz jump. I love those skates. But after 20 years of them sitting in a bag,🤔 I guess that put pressure on them. Or maybe my foot just got way wider. Bottom line I went to skate on these skates & after 30 mins I had blisters bad . I wanted to start back into skating to help with my overall health. After putting on a pair of Jackson mystique Ultima & walking around the pro shop it just felt so good to not feel any bit of pain. Having a wider pair of skates that fit like a glove. Although they are so comfortable. I might have bought these skates a little too fast. As I keep reading online , they're more for a beginner and not good for landing jumps. I'm not able to return these Skates. I do like skating in them. My question is can I land small jumps in these skates? As I advance I could buy another pair. Thanks so much and I subscribed to your channel.

hello ! I've been taking lessons since september and working on all basic skills, starting waltz jumps and spins. But my skates (jacksons 500) recently broke, the ankle support broke down and I don't know what to do, my coach said it didn't really matter at my level but I'm thinking that it won't help me improve to have broken down boots with bad ankle support if I want to improve. What kind of boot has better resistance and will last longer ? I've only used them for 6 months once to twice a week and i'm super bummed, skates are so expensive.

Hi Daphne, If you're looking for a skate with more resistance for your level, we would suggest either Jackson Elle's or Jackson Freestyle's. Both skates can be purchased from our website. It's always best to get your skates fitted in-store to make sure it's the right fit for you!

Hi!! thanks for the informative video! I am in learn to skate and I am in ballet 1 I can do waltz jump, two and one foot spin and I am working on scratch and sit spin, I am planning to buy skates somewhere this year, right now what boot would you recommend?
@myskate3596
@myskate3596 2 года назад
Thanks for your message :) Have you ever had your own skates or always hire skates? Since you are more advanced through the LTS program, you would need more than just a beginner boot. Boot selection depends on a variety of factors, such as height, age (we recommend different stiffness if you are an adult opposed to a child), number of times you skate each week etc. It's best to come in and look at our selection, but you would probably need to look at least at a Jackson Freestyle or perhaps a Risport RF Light or above. We are open every day of the week and our friendly staff are more than happy to help you out with any advice or recommendations you need! Look forward to seeing you in store soon!

hello, first of all I didn't understand your video because my english is bad :D forgive me for that.. is Jackson Mystique good? Because a girl on a channel I watched had a mystique ice skating and her teacher said she should buy a higher skate. I want to improve myself in skating seriously but for now an intermediate level skate will be enough. Can you recommend a model that I can use for about 6 months or 1 year? Or is mystique enough for intermediate level?

Hello, Jackson Mystique skates are very good skates. The support rating is 10/15 compared to Jackson Artiste 20/25, Jackson Freestyle 40/45, or Jackson Premiere 65. The lower support rating means the skate boot material is more flexible. The higher number means the skate boot material is stiffer. My daughter is seven years old and 25 kg with 20cm feet. She takes figure skating lessons and has started learning single jumps. Last month she got new skates - Jackson Elle 30/35, size 21+cm skates. Before that she was using Jackson Excel support rating 2/5, size 19.5/20cm skates. The new skates are stiffer than her first skates. We hope not too stiff for easy movement but stiff enough to support her growing from 125cm tall and 25kg to maybe 130+cm/30kg, and double jumps one year from now. Please try to research more. There is a connection between body weight, strength, and skating style. If someone is a leisure skater, he or she can wear any skates that fit the feet but if you skate for sport, you must consider other things. Check Jackson Ultima, Risport, Edea, Graf, Gam by Jackson, Riedell on the internet to find skates for you.

Hey, I’m late in answering but my take on it: It depends for who. If you are a child, you weigh less. You can use a softer shoe. I started at 21 (and am heavier than the “typical figure skater”) and already learnt the basics on recreational skates (graf Davos. Soft and easy to start with, I already had them so didn’t need to buy them then) As soon as I really wanted to learn it I went to a skate shop (specializing in figure skates). I got the graf prestige. (Softer ones didn’t give me enough ankle support). So I can’t skate that well yet (forwards, backwards, arabesque, crossovers, some edges, waltz jump etc) but need a stronger skater than someone younger and lighter. (The softer one I tried is the Graf caprice). Try to go to a professional. They will look at your feet and give you the right shoes.

Hi! I used to skate when I was about 12/13 and I had to quit when I was starting to do single jumps, I'm 27 now and I want to start again, I'm taking beginner lessons but I was wondering which skates where better for me, I live in México and I can't seem to find all the Jackson or Risport models, I'm 172 cm tall, I weight around 54 kg and I have narrow feet, which ones are better for me? The Jackson Excel JS1290 or the Jackson Artiste?
@myskate3596
@myskate3596 Год назад
Hi Aida, Based off your needs, we would actually recommend a Risport Antares or Risport Electra for a narrow foot! A Jackson Elle or Jackson Freestyle would also perhaps be better than the Excel and Artiste. If you can find a proshop near you, they will be able to help you find the perfect fit! Hopefully this helps :)

is antares equivalent to elle, in terms of stiffness and level? or elle is higher
@myskate3596
@myskate3596 Год назад
The Elle and the Antares are of very similar stiffness ratings. As they are two different brands of skate, the stiffness won't be exactly the same; however, their stiffness rating is so similar that you likely would not notice the difference. Hope this helps :)

Hey, I want to ask you is there any difference between male and female figure skates, besides the color?
@myskate3596
@myskate3596 Год назад
Hi Iavor, The colour is the main difference between the skates. Black skates that are listed as mens/boys use men's sizing, so you need to keep that in mind. For both black and white skates, you have the option to go for a narrow or wider fit, which means both men and women options can work for any skater. Hopefully this answers your question. Let us know if you need more clarification :)

@@myskate3596 Thanks! The main thing that I want to know is will there be a problem if men wears "women`s" skates? And from what you said men`s and women`s sizes are not exactly the same?

Hi! I've just started to skate and I really want to improve myself. However, I live in Turkey and just like everything, skates are so expensive that normal people couldn't afford. I've been already paying an amount of money for my lessons. Additionally skating rinks are expensive too. I'm not able to purchase my own skates for now, so is it okay to continue to use the rental skates at the skating rinks for a while? When will I need to purchase new skates? Here is an example: the Jackson Mystique skates are 3640 Turkish Liras. Think about that this skate is 3640$ in your country. Even very basic skates are too expensive. Another thing is that each 40 minutes sessions are 32 Turkish Liras?? This is not affordable too. I really don't know what will I do...
@1chienandalou
@1chienandalou 2 года назад
Merhaba! Skating isn’t cheap anywhere but in some places especially expensive. $3400 and 3400 lira aren’t the same though. You can skate in rentals as much as you can but you would definitely feel better if you had your own. At some point it will limit you significantly. Among rentals maybe you can try to find a good one and use that consistently. The blades are usually not sharp enough to learn to use edges properly and boots will be too soft to do much after the basics. Plus they never quite fit as snug as they should due to material and padding issues. If I were you I would a) get measured/fitted by a professional and b) once you know your size look into ordering online. You can find gently used skates at better prices or even order new might be cheaper than buying locally.

Thanks for your comment! Are you an adult skater? If you are an adult, we would probably recommend a Jackson Freestyle or perhaps a Risport Electra. We would definitely suggest visiting your local pro shop and getting sized correctly and seeing what range they stock! Wishing you all the best with your skating!

I asked a coach where I live and he just said "if you're going to start, get a size 1.5 bigger". I'm not quite sure if this is true. my real foot size is 5.5
