It is good, we have made it a couple times and it is best if left a bit chunky like this chopper did. A food processor can make it almost too smooth.

We love that chopper. My sister gave it to us in MN Vikings colors being funny but it works like a charm and we use it all the time. A lot of old fashioned manual tools work really great at camp actually. I just made something similar this past weekend, except I used tomatillos instead of tomatoes. Made it on the Takibi!

Brother, that looked awesome! Fire roasting the veg is a great way to add some depth of flavor. I really like your hand crank food processor. That is a really neat device to take camping. I'm trying to come up with a series on seasonal cooking each month and something like this would work nicely for Cinco de Mayo. Would you mind if a tried making a backpacking version?

Hey Jonny-thanks for dropping by. This recipe was not an original, only the camp prep (and yes that chopper is awesome for camping) so go for any version you want. One thing we have made it many times and it is better if you leave it a little chunky.
