Your experiences, and these lures, bring back memories, Den. FYI, I don't think I've found a fish yet that won't "sucker" for the Rapala Original Floating Minnow(straight or jointed.) I've caught northerns up to 24 lb and brown-trout at 18.5 lb. on them. These lure-types have almost been forgotten and are becoming re-discovered as a best-kept secret. Interesting that you should give them the renaissance that they deserve. I cut my teeth in fishing on Mepp's(in-line spinners) and have some wonderful stories. I've never watched a video that addresses their effectiveness, especially, as a "bait that not many bass have seen" lure. You'd be the perfect guy to do that.

Hmmm, thanks for the idea Michael. I will consider it. Mepps is great as well as blue fox super vibrax, CP swing and Rooster tails. Now you really got me thinking...

I Like your selection of Minnows. You don't need to spend $18, $25, $30.00 on Japanese Minnow lures. Great Channel! Just found it. Subscribed!

I was listening to your story about dead sticking thinking where have I heard this before? Went through my history and found it was on one of your top water Tuesday vids 😅 Great content, got a new sub.

7:36 , that "Rapala Scatter Lip" is in fact not an invention by Rapala , but has been designed by Finnish lurebuilders quite a few decades ago, if my memory serves me right , I had heard about it somewhere . It is widely called "saddle lip" due to it's distinctive shape and is also utilized by a few smaller Finnish lure companies , that you might not be familiar to in the USA and which are also barely known outside of Finland. Here a site displaying Finnish minnow lures: www.zanderland.fi/species/zanderlures The swimming action , that the saddle lip provides(apart from a body wobble also a kind of a wave pattern , if viewed from above) is also refered to as a "hunting action" . Again a nice presentation , I have two or three Bagleys as well , but I'm not to fond of them , since they do not cast that well due to being that lightweight. Very interesting story about that "deadsticking" , in 30 years of fishing had never experienced such , only thing is , that pike might strike a lure immediately , if cast "right onto their heads". "Tight lines" from northern Germany.

Hello Dieter, before Rapala bought Storm, Storm also had a lure with this same shaped saddle lip called a Thinfin. I had a few from the 70s so they were around in the US for some time as well. My guess is that the design first came from Finland though. Thanks again!

@@fishden365 You name it ! I now recall . I've got two "Thinfins" , one small one I had mailordered from "Bass Pro Shops" many years ago and one large , sinking one I've found on a fleamarket in Hamburg , indeed these have such lips , too .

Good info! I retrieve the rebel jointed minnow as soon asit hits the water and the rapala I let it sit for 5-10 secs then a slight twitch.

I would love to know what lakes you fished here in the Pocono mountains I live in Greenfield P.A right on Newton lake about 20 minutes from Lackawanna state park and lake and about 40 minutes from tobyhanna lake I believe it's called it's right near the army depot. Crystal lake isn't but 5 minutes from me also but much like newton lake it's a private community lake area! But I'm curious to what lakes you fished and if your from around my way up here in the Pocono's

That's awesome I've fished mostly everyone of those plus so e extra private locations. The lake I live at now newton lake has some huge bass and pickeral this past summer I did great tossing top water frogs and soft swimbaits on underspins! Google earth newton lake pa it's a beautiful lake and has a section called mud pond but it's far from a mid pond but boats can't really get back into it it's very shallow at the mouth that connects each side but I kayak Into it it ranges from many different depths it's loaded with lots of different vegetation I'd say it's about half a foot ball field wide and about a football field in length great place for kayak fisherman! I've heard walleye crappie and such also live in my lake where I live but I never seen or caught any! And it's not from lack of trying I'm a collector of fishing gear myself so it was a pleasure to watch you video very nice collection you had in this video Bagley is one of my favorite companies!! Well great to chat tightlines friend
