When you are at someone else’s property and they have a tree that you want but don’t have room for, I can hear it in your tone of voice when you ask them questions about it. Its almost accusatory, not quite. Haha 🤣 I ❤❤❤ your channel !!! Now I want to move to South Florida! (from Seattle) All my friends try to warn me about alligators and hurricanes, but I say “But MANGO TREES!!!” 😂

This was a very good and informative video from Lara Farms. Julian should brand and market that Improved Pollock tree as a dwarf "Weeping Avacado", which sounds better than saying "leggy". I would love to grow the Improved Pollock but probably not hardy enough for my climate. I'm in Georgia zone 8a. I already have 5 varieties that are suppose to be hardy here once established ( Mexicola Grande, Brogdon, Monroe, Oro Nero and Fantastic), I've kept them in pots through the winter for 2 years now and just cover and protect them from extreme cold. I plan on espalier them the way a guy does in New Zealand. I thought maybe the Improved Pollock would be great to espalier because of it's weeping nature. Thanks for sharing. Please keep up the videos!

"Taste before you buy" is true for all types of fruit trees not just avocados. Good advice for newcomers. We love our simmonds and choquette that way we have both summer and fall/winter fruit.

I got a big Florida avocado at the store, it was big and dark green, I put the toothpicks in it and set it In water. It grew a wonderful stem, the stem grew big leaves, I planted in a pot, it grew so fast I had to transplant in a bigger pot, I asked my landscaper to plant in my yard twenty feet out from my house, now 9 years later it has grown way over my house and screen over the pool. It had hundreds of blossoms all over the tree, then a strong wind blew them away. For the first time ever I got one BIG BEAUTIFUL avocado. It was hard, but it ripened in a few days. See my pictures?

I have an Ooh-La-La (now sold as SuperHass), and I can confirm that some of the fruits did not ripen evenly. Most however did ripen properly if allowed to fully mature on the tree. They are ready to pick once the fruit turns black all over. I'm hoping that fruit quality will improve as the tree matures, this is only the second year it has produced. I like the flavor. A November fruit, it's the closest to a Hass that I've tasted from Florida. It's probably even better than grocery store Hass. A bit larger than Hass too.

Hi Paul… what variety of avocados can be “paired” on one tree… such that A/B flowering is same time and growth habit is same/similar? You could easily double or triple your varieties of avocados and mangoes by grafting different scions with similar characteristics. This is truly what a backyard fruit grower need!

i'm starting a small collection of avocado trees down here in Panama, Central America. We are in the middle of the tropics so heat and humidity is prevalent... I got Catalina, Lorena (Papelillo) and some type of Hass (i guess grafted on a native avocado rootstock) that i think might work despite the heat. I'm gonna get some Choquette and probably a Simmons... I do wish to get some hass looking avocado that can fare well in tropical heat. Down here regular hass is only planted above 1,000m high, where temperature is fresh and nights chilly... I wonder if there is a way of getting that... and how would that work to get a tree from another country? it would have to be a seed most likely..i dont think aduana/migration can let a tree pass.
