if i've learned one thing in palworld, its that while breeding for specific 4 traits you're guaranteed to make it to atleast 3stars by condensing all the rejects.
For those that want to invest in future progression: If you decide do breed a vanwyrm with Runner+Swift+Nimble or any combatination of your choice you can transfer that later to a Faleris with breeding, and Faleris can transfer that as well to a Helzephyr so you will have the best 3 move speed passive skill ready to breed a Frostalion Noct if that is one of your goals at end game.
@@SuperDannyrulez Vanwyrm + Anubis = Faleris. Then breed that Faleris with either Blazamut or Suzaku Aqua to get Helzephyr. Last is that Helzephyr + Frostalion for Frostalion Noct. At least that's the shortest route I can think of.
I've seen a few videos on this topic, but this is the only one that has gone into such testing and detail. Great points on mentioning that Frostallion will drown on water if exhausted, and Ragnahawk is the only one that fits through cave tunnels. Good things for people to take into consideration with selecting a travel pal for their playstyle. I've been using a Faleris with Runner and Sprint which I'm loving due to not only the speed, but gotta love me a fire birb. For dungeons, I've found that using the Galewing as a glider to navigate through the tunnels is a nice supplement to traversing these if you dont want to give up the larger mounts.
It's crazy just how many charts this game needs to know exactly what you're doing. I'm still blown away by the breeding chart and how you can catch a male and a female of random species and wind up having most of the paldeck knocked out, just by breeding.
People might’ve done similar tests before, but NO ONE goes as in depth or researches as thoroughly as Austin John. Can’t express enough appreciation man!!
Beakon is my favorite bird so far. Based on the North American legend of the thunderbird, you can tell by its wing patterns reminiscent of Native American depictions of the legendary thunderbird.
Seriously. Suzaku has WAY more stamina than Ragnahawk. Slightly slower sprint is a good trade off for being able to stay in the air three times as long and not have to stop multiple times when climbing mountains to regen stamina.
Everyone writes him off but he is my go to mount, literally none of the content creators have mentioned stamina stats, suzaku had 350 compared 100 or 150 of almost every other mount. Makes such a MASSIVE difference and you don't have to stop constantly to get stamina back
@@mikecampbell1669 You can just do cliff jumping with a faster mount and you retain your speed while not using any stamina. Stamina is important but Suzaku just isn’t as good as the others overall imo.
@@ghostlyblue5735 same run speed and 1100 vs 1300 for sprint speed. That’s not much slower for around 2.5x the stamina. In real map navigation and being forced to land to regen stamina periodically, the stamina saves you way more time than the little bit of speed does.
I bred a Beakon with both Swift and Runner on him because he’s my favorite of these aesthetically besides Vanwyrm Cryst. Honestly since I just upgraded from a Nitewing, I’m super stoked about him and he’s never leaving my team. I bred a Vanwyrm Cryst to have Ferocious, Hooligan, and Musclehead; she picked up Sadist randomly during the process. I’m upgrading her to max through the soul system and the orphan grinder (pal condenser). She’s not a great mount but I love that my prettiest pal is also a complete meat grinder.
Austin John still pumping out bangers 7 years later. It’s wild to think it was that long ago that you made your BOTW videos. They were by far my favorite thing to watch, wether it was you informative videos or making link look like characters from shows/games. Keep up the great work, Austin.
It took a while, but I bred up a max speed Beakon (Legend / Swift / Runner / Nimble) which appears to be second or third best, based on those tables. I mostly just like the +Lightning buff it gives, because random stuns on bullets/arrows are super handy. (Also shockwave is good for groups of dudes.)
I didn't even run the numbers on Nimble being a white trait, but that's 1.1 x 1.15 x 1.2 x 1.3 that's a range of 401 (just under Base Faleris' 407) sprint range of 170 (tied with Legend Jetragon at 172) and clocking in at 24 M/s (compared to non-legend Jet at 31) That's an amazing pre-50 pal
@@austinjohngaming I don't know about the speeds on ground mounts, but I got the same skill set on a Univolt, because Beakon won't fit through most doorways in dungeons and I still love the +Lightning. I bet that set would be nuts on a Fenglope. Edit: Just noticed the ground mounts video. Seems Univolt is still a decent choice, even though leveling doesn't affect his speed.
Regarding Suzaku: He IS a Flight+Hover but was not included in this video because besides looking very badass he doesn't excel in any category. They're unlocks at 40/43, after all the 30-Birdies It's slower than Faleris, Ragnahawk, and Beakon in Sprint Speed and only 6% faster in regular ride speed The best stat it has is stamina beating Faleris by a good amount, but Faleris is in the sky so long anyways that it teeters on irrelevent.
Quivern is my flying mount and my main pal to use. I don't care if she's not the fastest or the strongest, but she's my big old giant fluff dragon and that's all that matters to me.
Thank you so much Austin for putting in the time and effort to make this video. It has been eating at me the last couple days as to which flyer I should put work into breeding and you've helped answer that question.
Believe no Quivern because it is a ground/flying combo (not as in types but forms of movement) As Austin said in the beginning, ground/flying combo fliers are bad because they drown when out of stam instead of flying above water as if it was ground.
Suzaku is easily the 2nd best non legend due to its extreme stamina and pretty good speed combined with it's easy acquisition compared to others at its level.
It's a crime to skip Suzaku because of an arbitrary "value" number based on speed vs level. The upgrade from Ragnahawk isn't in speed, it's all in stamina.
Regular glide plus full slide glide stats. Hangyu can get you across a whole region when done right. Plus I think they all get better with different star levels. Would definitely have to run some cheats or hax to do proper testing to skip the grind for hundreds of glider catches and breedings.
@@1un4cy Hangyu's the traversal king. Can even use it in dungeons with good grapple tech, quite doable with some practice. But Killamari does have the advantage of very low stamina depletion after upgrade that I haven't tested deeply yet, but its noticeable. Its just that with Hangyu's vertical momentum you can free-fall a lot more to save on stamina. Oddly enough, for pure traversal, Galeclaw is actually the weakest besides maybe Celaray. Great combat glider though.
Thanks for this video! Before seeing some of this data, I bred up a Vanwyrm Cryst with all the speed abilities.. and ugh, SO frustrated that I spent all that time on it. I assumed that it having a much higher level to unlock the saddle would make it faster.. NOPE. So yeah, now I'm breeding Faleris. -_-
Fenglope can do that though & their saddle is like level 26. Plus, they’re the fastest non-legendary ground mount if you factor in their charge & their double jump has more height than the legendary triple jump.
@@HeavensOfMetal While I agree with this, it is worth noting that not everyone wants to have a Fenglope or other land riders on their team + a Flying Pal. That's where Ragnahawk's small frame is of benefit and still worth the consideration.
I feel like its worth going into which flying Pals are good at combat, too. With only 5 party slots you want all your Pals to be able to pull their weight in fights as well, which is why I went with Swift and Ferocious+Hooligan on my Faleris, and I'm glad I did. He's still really speedy for getting around but he's also my fighting ace especially with Faleris' signature move that obliterates raid groups.
The list at 4:34 checks out. My progression went Nitewing -> Vanwyrm -> Faleris -> Jetragon (anticipated), with each one successively being bred to have better traits.
Loving the info and geeky charts. Hating the base beats in the background that wake up my house as my speakers are wall mounted. This may seem like a 'me problem', but others have good speakers as well... and I've left many videos (especially amateurish) that have especially obnoxious audio and don't take it into account.
I bred a Faleris with both runner and swift and it's genuinely game changing (also has diet lover which is nice because flyers seem to get hungry super quickly)
One thing you missed with the flying pals is the climb speed. Pals like Suzaku aren't to fast like the others, but they do rise and fall faster then most.
this channel should be called "Austin John Palworld" XD i'm not playing the game but. it does make me happy because the only reason you'd be making so many detailed videos for a game like this on a channel with very few views is cause you really just love the game that much. or you're being paid. but you haven't disclosed anything so i'll assume it's just cause you love it.
For optimal speed flying pals, I recommend getting a runner, swift, nimble nitewing immediately. At 3 or 4 star this guy actually outspeeds vanwyrm. And you can breed him into a max speed ragnahawk with pyrin as the other parent.
How'd you find the distance they travel and the values you mentioned earlier, How'd you come up with those? Love the use of Excel and the attention to detail
There is a "niche" for the Vanwyrm Cryst. Since its ice type it lets you navigate hit areas a bit better. I say it in quotes thiugh because I think there is gear unlocked by lvl 41 that would makes the cooling effect redundant, but if you cant be bothered to obtain that gear then there you go
A few things. 1st the into was awesome, but missed the snap. 2nd is the Jetragon issue is fucking hilarious. 3 i thought this was gonna be a basic top 10 countdown but boi was i wrong! 🤣🤣 Great shit, best palworld content. Could go for a oive stram if you do that kinda stuff.
IGN put out a 'top 5 flying pals' at the EXACT SAME TIME as me, 3pm EST. it's the most basicly basic video. I'm here to make spreadsheets, ignore haters, fuck shit up, and chew bubblegum... and i'm about out of bubblegum.
Some notes: You unlock the Helzephyr saddle the level before you unlock refined ingots which is a thing that it requires, so effectively, it unlocks at the same time as the superior and cheaper-saddled Beakon. Suzaku is slower than a lot of other things, but I hear it has a ton of stamina, and for a main explorer, shouldn't be overlooked. You mentioned Ragnahawk specifically fits in caves, is it that much better than a ground mount like Fenglope who's saddle you get at 26 and has an amazing double jump?
Appreciate this! I didn't really use flyers, and by the time I wanted one, I was a few levels away from Helzypher, so I waited for that. Having found a Direhowl with Swift early and using it the whole time, I was like "omg this is so slow" lol. Do you plan on doing one of these for ground Pals?
So... from what I udnerstood is that Jetdragon is the best outside of caves, but inside of caves its better to have Ragnahawk? Not sure if I understood this correctly
