Hey Stoney! I can't tell you how much it elated me to see you review the font that Sam and I collabed on, Engine Grip! I recorded/mixed all of the sounds (in the vein of the original Star War SFX, which ended up taking over two months) but had no clue how to make the swings. Sam had just released his first font, Crispity, on r/lightsabers, and because of the unique swings I reached out to him immediately. The swings on Engine Grip are 100% Sam lol. Do yourself a favor and try deflecting blasters with that font. We did something VERY different with the blaster blocks, and they always make me feel way more like a Jedi than any other font on the market's blaster blocks. Your pure joy is absolutely infectious. I discovered these fonts last week and fell in love. Magnetic is my favourite with the occasional ramping up swing
The dude is a legend --- on Black Friday he even gave anyone who messaged his video a free PAID font from his site --- you just had to say which you wanted and it was added to your account ... Endure is amazing .... but each of his fonts also come with a VERY complex and well matched proffie blade style (he's one of the few makers to include a proffie blade file too) They're very unique and almost musical
I just rewatched you playing with Engine Grip (a collab of mine and Sam's), and at 1:53 you posed a really interesting idea that I just wanted to let you know is now officially part of this character's saber's lore. It's made from junk parts and no crystals (jedi in hiding), so, with no field holding the plasma, the plasma is instead coiled up a fairly slender rod of SW metal that's ionized to attract the plasma (hence the swings having that weird air resistance feel to them, though I got the idea for the coiled plasma AFTER hearing Sam's swings that he'd designed for it.) He has a nifty slender sheath that he's managed to fashion for the rod. Anywhozit, I absolutely adored the way you described that "push to start" feeling and therefore... The low populated junk planet the jedi is stranded and hiding on post-Order 66 has no access to kyber crystals to power the blade or focus its magnetic containment field, but there is plenty of Rhydonium on this junk planet in wrecked ships. And without a diatium power cell to fire the blade, the jedi instead fashioned his makeshift engine hilt with a series of mechanical elements designed to convert physical mechanical energy into an ignition for the blade. He takes the lightsaber up into his hand, pours his will into the hilt, and uses the Force to push the mechanical elements in the hilt to generate the power needed. Once fired, the mechanical process kicks over to a Rhydonium processing core to power the blade, with depleted cores ejectable and reloadable on the move. Which I should say is a very good thing as he only gets about 3 minutes of continuous use from each core, so it's draw last, strike fast, and haul ass. Oooooo that’s so cool!!! I’d love to see a lightsaber fight with that extra nuisance added to it, like a Jedi holding of an inquisitor with only three of those cells, I love that lore man!

I agree. As a noise geek, every one of their soundfonts make me giggle just listening to the video samples on the website. Looking forward to getting my saber trio hilt and loading these all up on there.
@@FlusteredBottom a good bit of the time, it's something sampled, tossed around, beat up, over compressed to grit, possibly microsampled... It's creative experimentation. You could use a synth as well, but a combo of sawtooths and maybe wavetable synth. I haven't tried it myself, to make a saber noise. But, last time I dug that deep into layering those kinda things was quite a while ago..... Sounds like a fun challenge to play with. Got FL recently, maybe I'll see what I can do with the stock plugs... After DLing OTT.
Base-lit sabers are best for full-contact dueling. Pixel sabers are all nice and fancy but the battery life is on the short side. (from my point of view)
Feeling a little attacked over here 🤣🤣 jkjk haha yeah I know, I tend to go with the fancy hilts rather than the fancy electronics. Besides rgb is more comfortable to swing around IMO 😋
@@ForgedbyLight - I do have a couple of pixel sabers but I don't use them often. Unfortunately, that seems to be the case. Pixel sabers are at least $100+ higher than RGB base-lit sabers. At least LGT Saber Studios and a few other saber companies still offer RGB LED sabers.

I know im like a year late but what im thinking the stpry behind decay is its sort of an old and dying lightsaber that fails to ignite sometimes. Heres how i think it plays out. The wielder ignites the saber and as it's charging up, it starts to fail and the wielder starts hitting the hilt (thats what i think those sort of hitting noises at 14:49 are) and then it finally ignites. This also fits the name as its sort of as like the kyber crystal or atleast the ignition system is decaying and starting to wear down
Stoney, I got all Greyscale fonts installed in all my sabres. Helps that many of them are free too The Extra Crispity ( Paid for) Fonts are incredible. Volatile, Seethe, Decay and Galvanic are my favourites.
@@thestoneymagnum Sam updated a few of the fonts a little while back also. I've a couple of different versions of Awaken, Paradise, Behemoth and Binary. Those blade styles and ignitions!!! Really something to talk about. Thanks again for putting it out there for all to see and hear. You're a legend dude. 😏👍
Only downside to his site is that you have to try to come up with all the xeno config numbers on your own, would be so great if that one little string of data was available to cut & paste into the config files for these to at least start out just as you see on his demo videos. I guess looking at his files, he does have configs for Proffie style, maybe he doesn't have any Xeno to refer to or just doesn't prioritize it besides converting the sound files.
The sounds are amazing and nice review ! Love your enthusiasm ! I recently acquire my first lightsaber and its a xenopixel. I add some of these fonts and im tryin to add custom colours since the files doesnt come with them. I tried to create a new line in config with the same number as the folder. and change the values to a orange (255,153,51) but when i choose that font in saber i got a white light, anyone else have this issue? does it need to be a specific range ?
Happy you enjoyed the video man! 👊 If you got yourself a xeno saber then you can change colours on it by turning the blade on then hold the main button down for two blinks then it should start cycling through all the colours

how could i put such an amazing soundfonts into neopixel lightsaber? i would love to have them all, but iam afraid i will do something bad and my lightsaber could be broken

I was soooo hoping that it can be installed on Xeno boards as well, I'm about to get my hands on one and this has been one of the main reasons for that.
How do u get the pre on for crispity i have a xeno pixel lightsaber and i see the pre on in the files but i dont hear or see the pre on when im using the saber
yo bruuuh what? this is for free? this shit sounds more fire than moste fonts that cost money... these fonts are soooo sick... I think the show / movies need more unique sounding fonts like these
what type of soundboard do you have. his website says you can use it with all soundboards but the proffie will be the best due to the lightsaber pixel. I was looking at xenopixel sabers. but now i don't know what i should get cause i want crisptiy sound font on my saber whatever i get
