Dude, great video. Thank you for taking the time to explain, and show the differences between all the jargon. Trying to get a grasp of it as a newcomer to the new lightsaber tech had me feeling like it was gatekeeping newcomers out, and was discouraging me from trying to find a hilt that was close to my preferences. After watching this I understand more than I have just looking on Reddit or other RU-vid videos. Great job. Will recommend.
You’re welcome. Yeah it can be tricky to figure this stuff up. And now apps are involved and a newer version of proffie is also coming out so . It’s tech and it will forever change. This will at least service as a starting point for basic info to help people just want to get a lightsaber! Good luck!
This is the exact video I was looking for to help me narrow down what I want in a Neopixel saber. Awesome review! Love the details. I think I’m going to go with a Xenopixel V3 board when I get a new saber.
@@cooach6614 I ended up getting a Xenopixel Technology Core (XTC). I was going to get the Proffie but I decided against it because it just seems way too complicated. I’m not a coder and truthfully, I don’t have that much time to waste trying to figure it out. At least this video really helped answer some burning questions. I love the new V3 that you mentioned in the video because I could use my phone. I know my saber doesn’t have that, but in the future I might get a V3. Here’s my order from Vader’s Sabers Chosen One (Anakin Ep2) Technology Core (TC): Xenopixel Technology Core (XTC) Pixel Blade Length: 36" Customization : Standard Price: $449.00
@@DavidA20200 if it’s not too late to cancel your order i would recommend using darkwolf sabers, i ordered the exact same saber and with the may 4th discount (available for the whole month) i was able to get it for $324 with a xeno3 core
Dude. That app is wild. I just got a Vega from Imperial Workshop and had no faith it would Bluetooth to my iPhone. But it does and the app is pretty killer
I hope one day they come out with some kind of Hybrid, where it can do both base lit and pixel so I can put in a blade for dueling so I don't risk a pixel blade. Dunno how that would ever work, but it would be nice if I didn't have to choose.
It’s out! Xeno v3 has a adapter to turn the pixel Connector in to baselit! www.vaderssabers.com/product-page/pixel-to-rgb-converter-xeno-v3?ref=iurvK7mA
So happy that Proffie added a whole settings menu that lets you change volume, brightness, blade-length, swing on, twist on, etc. No longer do you have to flash the board every time you want to change the simple things.
I bought a Saber forge ObiWan saber about 5 years ago (which has unfortunately died on me 😢) and I'm looking to get a Vader saber. Thanks for clearing up the many advances in tech that I encountered and was confused by. I appreciate this vid greatly.
Very informative. Thank you. I just ordered my first saber in a Xeno. After wanting one since childhood but knowing they'd never be a reality, it's awesome that we can get something so close. Can't wait to check it out. 😀
Someone may have already said, but Proffie has an edit mode directly on the hilt now. In the newest versions, like 6.9, all you do is long press both buttons with the saber off. You can edit everything right there. It's great. Also, 7 is going to have an insane amount of upgrades. It's in late-stage beta testing now.
@@meprobablyidk2 yep just gotta use the data cable, Arduino with the latest proffieOS open and plug in your board so you can run it on the program and “flash” it to your board.
@@TheCollectorsOutpost Yeah for sure. I'm well seasoned with flashing little hardware controllers, programming, building custom electronics etc so user-friendliness is a complete nonissue for me, this is exactly the thing I was looking for! For my friends I will definitely be recommending Xenopixel, as the phone app seems to be the easiest way to set up all the customization.
@@alanbarnett328Teach me your ways, master software nerd😭 I am a quick learner.. i’m sure I could figure it out after a few days, but it seems so intimidating. Love the idea of totally customizing to the finest details though.. I’m super OCD so I would likely be coding for weeks on end lol
Thank you for the really informative video. I just got my new Xenopixel lightsaber yesterday, and I am absolutely thrilled. I particularly like the fact that you can control the lightsaber with the app.
Dude, thank you so much for this video. Super informative. I think I'm leaning towards sabers that have the app feature. Much more convenient since I have no patience for coding either lol 😅👍
Great comparison, Jon! And Sam's videos really helped me with Proffie when I got my first saber And I'm the complete opposite of you. I can do Proffie all day, but I'm always get tripped up with GHv3 lol
Same here. I learned how to use Arduino from watching RU-vid tutorials, and I don't have the patience to learn how to use another soundboard. Once you get comfortable with customizing proffie, it's hard to go back to anything else. 😜
Ok. Brother, this is the best break down description of these blades. Im still not buying because i am waiting for Comic con in a month in SanDiego. Ill see if i can get a deal. Lmk if you are coming? Also what booth do you think i would want to go to? Thanks for the usual great vids! Edit- i want to add the NeoSabers has no customer support on the telephone. And while they are polite, i have sent 10 to 20 emails to have this explained, and they cannot explain it well, other than to say V3 xeno is for me, because of what i have saud to them. But now i understand all of it!
For technical proficiency: (1) Newbs who are scared to tinker and brick their stuff should go for the SN Pixel, (2) intermediate users who want customization without doing programming and using simple batch/initialization and drag drop file features can utilize GHv3, (3) advanced users who want complete customization/programming and all that technical babble to feel superior, but are actually grown up adults who play with light-up swords like me should go for Proffie.
Thank you for this video. My mate’s keen to get a custom saber and I was clumsily trying to explain e livery thing you’ve perfectly laid out in this video 😅
I’m looking at buying a saber, you just gave a great review answering a ton of my questions! Only question I had left was what does neo pixel mean vs xenopixel etc? Also I want to start collecting sabers but want to be wowed with my first one without spending a crap ton of money because I’m a college student lol. If anyone reads this and has an answer or if you yourself have an answer to these questions that’d be greatly appreciated! 😁
I bought a Saber Forge years ago. In the electronics I paid for were crap and the customer service from the company was also crap. I just want my Saber to have Blue, Green and Red. And make a great sound again. Nothing crazy fancy. Im having a hard time beliving thats even possible anymore.
For me, I'd want to know which one is the best sound quality and sensitivity of the effects. I dont even care about the color changing and all the crazy crap. Just look and sound realistic, and be the color I want it to be when I buy it.
GHV3 and Proffie are the best sounding of these options but if you want the better sounding sabers then none of these. Xeno would be at the bottom of my (sound good) list. You need to look in to saber trio, 89 sabers, Korbanth. Things like that with higher end installs. Look for Lager 28mm speakers. My best sounding saber is my Korbanth kenobi. Thing is a monster.
@TheCollectorsOutpost Thanks! I have a Saberforge Qui-Gon replica that I purchased a few years ago, and I love it. Came on to look at new sabers and it's so damn complicated now lol. I really do miss the simple design. I don't understand all the changing colors. To me, it's a bad business move because you technically don't need to purchase multiple lightsabers in different colors anymore with all this "one blade does it all" stuff. I also don't need it to talk to me and quote movies... It''s a lightsaber... Not a C3P0 lmao. Thanks again for the response. I'll check out those brands you mentioned.
@@Eclipse1988 to most people it’s not about the color changing. It’s about the hilt design. Trust me it’s not a bad business thing for them. They sale sales left and right. People buy the hilt, it’s just a plus that they all have modern tech.thats almost like saying Well I a darth Vader saber and its red so why would I need a Dooku saber cuz thats also red.
Perfectly explained 😊👍🏻 Hoping one day to be able to afford a pixel blade, have The Black Series for display (I know they aren't the best but I at least wanted one official product) and those cheap "aliexpress" baselit sabers for combat and cosplay. My first baselit one a couple of years ago was $70 after taxes and recently ordered a dualpack with connector for $109 after tax 😅😊
and watching this made you choose which one? I have an uninstalled KR DIY hilt coming and need to decide myself. Which items sold you on a certain one?
Thanks! This one was hard cuz I really tryed to say everything g and show everything and do my best to get people to start to understand what they are looking at if they are getting their sabers. It’s a lot to take in.
wow such a great video right to the point i have a saberforge ecopixel that is great but im looking for something a bit more hardcore now thinking about either sabertrio or maybe another saberforge
thanks, very helpful! I'm trying to figure out what the baselit lightsabers on Padawan Outpost would have. The 4 soundboards you mentioned (SN4, Xeno v3, Golden Harvest, Profile) are all on pixel blades and not baselit blades, right? Are there a few different prominent baselit sound boards too that you could cover, and which ones would you recommend, if any?
Good video very informative. Love your content. Dueling right here xeonopixal blade I read it not recommended. I would only possibly duel with my kids. What are your thoughts?
The blades honestly can take a beating. But keep in mind each blade is about $130 give or take and I’ve broken a few of them pretty easily just due to a flaw in the material or that specific run. But light dueling should be OK. But they can take a pretty good beating
No Crystal Focus?! Niagon doesnt seem to be in the game anymore, but Plecter Labs is still pretty big. The choices out there these days is crazy. I remember people repurposing Hasbro boards from the cheap, collapsible sabers in their sink tube builds.
Couple of the mean factories are no longer supporting Golden Harvest in favor for their own boards like the SNv4. So I’m not sure we will be seeing the GHv3 here on the channel any more. Makes me really sad.
I have a neopoxel saberpro rogue I was totally stoked about it and its just I don't like the special features it's a lightsaber, I totally wished you could take it out and just buy it like that, but it's not the end of the world !
Which would have the most color variation? I have a GHv3 and I know you can add color profile, but getting a true white has been challenging to figure out.
Out of the box Proffie, Xeno and SNv4 all have a full spectrum of color that RGB can produce. I have never fully seen real white one anything. I seem very very close to white but when you hold that next to real white light you can see a different. The reason is it’s RGB. There is no real white LED it’s a mix of red green and blue so it’s always kind of on a blue ish hue. I wish I could wind pure white LED blades. I know I can custom make them but just wish they were a simple option as an alternative blade to buy.
@@TheCollectorsOutpost With my golden harvest hilt, I added a white color font to it, but when it’s on, it’s more of a bright amber, however, when it does battle clash, it can produce bright white light. Even more so with certain ignition types. Curious what would be the color code to produce such a pure white light
Ultrasabers buyer here. They now got a 40% Halloween discount on hilts and boards. Takes them days to answer email though. I won a raffle years ago, and got a misprint saber with some elite pluepurple hilt instead of normal blue. I was very pleased...
I'm considering getting a Xeno3 core for my main lightsaber to replace my SN4 just for the accent swings and the iPhone app looks great. I sent TXQ a message asking if they have any plans for accent swings in a future update, but they didn't seem to understand. Furthermore, I saw a video from reseller demonstrating what they called "accent swings" but all they were doing was showing off the regular smoothswing. I'm beginning to feel that the SN4 board may not be capable of triggering accent swings similar to how the Xeno2 couldn't. One thing I did like about the SN4 android app was how in-depth you can edit the fine details of blade effects.
FYI, I spoke to TXQ a few times in the past weeks before and after making the video and they have confirmed there sn4 has accent swings. Even sent me a video. A few of us had a long video chat just yesterday and some of us kind of got it working but it seems very hard to hard. They need to do a bit of work on that board.
@@TheCollectorsOutpost is there a type of lightsaber which has all of the smooth swing and has the sound when hiting something is very bright and can be use to duel?
You sorta had me sold on GHv3 since I have already known I am not going to try to learn Proffie skills. BUT...then you said the app makes the Xeno v3 "the best bang for the buck". But is "bang for buck" still not better than GHv3? The price difference in the boards is not a concern. I just want an windows intuitive, user friendly drag and drop/rename folders system. I plan to add lots of sounds/bladestyles from the major creators to my new KR Saber when I get it and get it installed. Thanks for the great review!
Ai can code proffie. Saw a tool that gave you an interface instead of coding it Had lots of pain making my own sounds for xenopixel 3. The problem was wav file bit rate, has to be 705 or 1411
I noticed Vader Sabers no long offers Golden Harvest for the Boone Kestis saber. They have SNTC in place of Golden Harvest. Do you know if vader sabers stopped carrying Golden Harvest?
The main manufacturer of some of the sabers (TXQ) no longer offered Golden Harvest. Trust me that news upset me and Vaders Sabers. The GHv3 was my go to board. TXQ did that so they can push their own board SNv4.
I love the sabers from SaberForge. I am debating between XenoPixel and Golden Harvest Pixel. My understanding is that with a XenoPixel drop in, I'm limited in the switch sections I can use? Is the Emitors also limited? I didn't see the info on their site but the emitors have varying lenghts, I am unsure if the xeno kits fit in all of them. I like the simplicity of xenopixel over the cooler but more complicated golden harvest and proffie...
Great, all the technology is perfected. Now maybe they can work on costs. I'm dubious at best the base price on these things isn't at a like, 500% markup. No industry that has regular 50% off sales and double deal giveaways standard is on the up and up.
Looking at buying one for my 13 yr old son...any help would be awesome, a few hundred dollars is about the furthest I'd go...can someone help!!? Thanks in advance
My question is: how do I get them to shut up? I don't want any voices coming from my saber. I just want the sound effects. It really ruins it for me when a voice says something like "volume up" when I change a setting. This is the only reason I haven't bought one of these xenopixel or whatever fancy sabers.
Who has the best pre-installed Kylo Ren sound font/ unstable blade style? That is one of my main driving forces on deciding which lightsaber company to go with other than a removable chassis, high quality and durability. Im really digging the Cal Kestis survivor lightsaber for my first.
Hey my friend thanks for this amazing and very clear video. I am into the accent swing that's the most important for me. So would you say that GHV3 have a best accent swing than Xeno v3 ? Thanks
I don’t have any and CFX don’t come In Any of these mid range sabers that are made from TXQ and LGT/Nexus sabers. Also GHV3 no longer is offered in them any more ether. Sad.
Hi, mate! I really enjoyed the video. But I got a bit confused if the Golden Harvest is available by the same supplier as the res of the other varieties in the same vaderssabers webpage or if it is a different supplier? Sorry if you said it and I just didn't get it.
Some manufacturers offer golden harvest, some others don’t. And a couple of companies are also weeding, golden harvest out in favor for their own boards, such as. SNv4 and XENO.
I am looking for a lightsaber so this video was very helpful. Question for you, I have a very old master replica luke lightsaber with a fixed blade that came loose, would you know if it can be modified to take one of these new blades? Ty.
@@TheCollectorsOutpost awesome. I’m looking to buy the Judger from vaderssabers with a golden harvest core. Have you ever dueled with any of your vaderssabers or even recommend it? the judger uses a 1 inch wide neopixel blade so I’d assume it’s durable enough. Thanks!
@@TheCollectorsOutpost fair enough. Other than Vader's Vault with their RTS and Genesis Custom Sabers, the other company I know that also readily offers CFX (and Proffie) and turn around time is decent, is Sabertrio.
