Bro another cool thing about Bart Bonte is that he would reply to EVERY review left on his mobile games. I remember being so amazed as a kid leaving positive reviews on his games, just to find that within a few hours he leaves a reply saying thank you, and I thought maybe it was an automated message, so I left a review on "red", asking how to beat a level, and he actually replied with a walkthrough on how to get through the level. He's such a cool guy
my elementary school had this summer program called "summer educare", where kids got to hang out in the school, usually in a computer lab and one of the adjacent classrooms, until their parents got off work and were able to pick them up. i distinctly remember one day during summer educare, i had a race with my friends to see who could beat all four factory balls games first. i lost, i beat 1 and 2 and got about halfway through 3. those were good times.
Ive been going on Bart Bonte's blog playing games he recommends made by other indie devs for YEARS. He ignited my love for puzzle games ESPECIALLY room escape games. Forever an incredible indie dev imo
When you said "Bart Bonte" at the beginning, I was like "WHAT" because I LOVE the color series and didn't realize this guy had been making games all the way back in the days of Flash!
I never knew Bart Bonte made Sugar Sugar or Factory Balls. I came across his color games way later by myself and just really liked them. Like Neil Cicerega, I didn't know that he was such a legend responsible for my childhood.

I remember playing sugar sugar on flash a long time ago, discovering that there was a mobile version like 4 years ago, and since then I've been playing every new release. Also Collage was such a perfect album for me, it holds a special place in my collection of game OSTs.

I remember when I’d play Bart’s games they’d always have such a comforting feeling to them. The art style, music, and feel were always so childlike and nostalgic. Definitely gotta play some of his games I haven’t tried out. Great video!
i was literally obsessed with this guy's color series (and box) literally before black released (i think i was about 6-8) i kinda had a phase were i was obsessed with mobile puzzle games like his i was also obsessed with games like these 100 door games, like 58 works (especially dooors), snapbreak (especially faraway) and kamibox (especially sometimes you die) it actually saddened me when i couldnt find some of their games on the playstore anymore when i tried searching for it, felt like a memory you can never get back btw, if you like bart bonte, id recommend robert alvarez (im also obsessed with his games too, i discovered him when i finally had access to a laptop, he kinda trained me how to use a keyboard), his games are puzzle platformers (like farafall) or sokoban like games (like emotica) with all of them having a unique mechanic, and they are all minimalistic and have a calm sounds, and if i am correct, his games also appeared in bart bonte's blog when they release
Uh no that’s Bart Bonte. I have played every single game he has ever released and have contacted him multiple times to express how much his games influenced me. I played factory balls nonstop as a kid. Bart Bonte deserves so much attention
I loved Sugar Sugar and Farafalla as a kid, I have distinct memories of playing them, and I really like Yellow as a game concept, shocked to know they all come from the same person!
It's funny, because as you were showing off the games he'd made on coolmathgames, I had the Colors games burning a hole in the back of my mind. As soon as you said he made those games, I had a, "Oh that makes sense" moment.
I swear he had a lot of cohorts doing similar things with him, names that you'd recognize when you saw them on a Flash game. JMTB02 immediately comes to mind, then I think of Tom Fulp & Tyler Glaiel as browser game developers.
He still releases games for free on the App Store. I went to go check and his newest came out only two months ago. So happy this video reminded me to check!
Flash games on websites such as coolmathgames were a big part of my childhood, and Bart Bonte’s games always stuck out to me for their simple and memorable puzzles. I still occasionally play old flash games on emulators like flashpoint, and a good portion of games I play there are by Bart Bonte. I’m glad this video exists to not only take a deeper look into what makes his games so memorable, but also to prove that I’m not the only one that has great memories of his games!
Sugar Sugar is my favorite game not just because of the gameplay, but also because of the music and the strategic value. I was absolutely devastated in 2020 when flash was removed from Chrome, and when the game was removed from abcya shortly thereafter. Many good earlier childhood memories come from that game.
Don't think I ever played his Flash games, but have played his more recent mobile colour series. When you showed the escape puzzle, the style was instantly familiar.
I remember seeing your comunity post about the farafalla colours and scrambling to remember the name, I also really liked playing that game and I think it was my first of his games that I played!

Dude I have heard practically NO ONE ever mention Farafalla it was genuinely one of my favorite games on Cool Math Games. I can't say what exactly it is either but I just kept replaying it constantly.

dude, me and the key was my SHIT as a kid. i randomly remembered it a bit ago and went onto cool math to play them (thankfully someone archived them) and ended up going through a bunch of other games i played as a kid … and this video made me realize most of them were made by him ! that’s actually insane, what the hell ???
i LOVE bart bonte!!!! ive kept his color series downloaded on my phone for years! not to mention the dozens of hours i spent playing factory balls and sugar, sugar as a kid. im glad to see someone give him the appreciation he deserves!
