I played with Scott Darling briefly when he was on the now-defunct CD Selects of the now-defunct EJHL tier 3 junior A league. Dude was a class act. Super nice to me even though I had no business being there and was a glorified practice goalie. I was super happy to see him find NHL success in Chicago.
Even without stanley cup, Rinne and Lundqvist are top tier goalies with such good personality that you can build a team around them. Not bad for 205th and 258th pick.
There was a unknown error in my comment and got deleted, but good news is Louis domingue is up in the major ( I feel bad for Louis domingue, he had a breakout season when vasilevskiy with injured and he's now in the minors ) it got 137 like and noted by OhNyquist
I was thinkig of all the good goalie and then I thought about Bobrovsky and dodnt hear his name in the video, then I remembered he went undrafted...crazy
Puksin Dheep philly wanted to draft him, but thought he wouldn’t come over and didn’t want to waste a pick. So they just bugged him every year until he was ready
Quick has two cups, doesnt he? ur baked Price is HOF and had an amazing career (coming from a bruins fan) but Quick has the accolades and some unreal stats to go with it
For your 2005, I agree with Price, but I would have given it to Quick mainly because he has multiple Stanley Cups as starter for LA as Price has...none
@Otto Zizak and I completely agree with you on that. But I still stand on Quick. Price is an elite goaltender dont get me wrong. But to me, (coming from a sharks fan) Quick is the better of the two
I would at least consider Steve Mason for the 2006 best goalie. Let me explain. Yes, hes effectively retired, and yes hasn't played in 2 full years, but despite that, he has over 200 wins playing 5 seasons on a struggling blue jackets team, and 4 on a decent philly team. He also won the calder in 2009 beating the likes of Pekka Rinne, Claude Giroux, Johnathon Quick, Bobby Ryan, Steven Stamkos, and Drew Doughty. And he did so in dominating fashion receiving 121 out of 132 first place votes. Mason is one of only 16 goalies to win that trophy. Furthermore, he went on to have two 30+ win seasons, verses Varlamov's 1, two seasons with Vezina votes, vs Varlamov's 1, 3 all star vote seasons, versus Varlamov's 1, and 34 career shutouts, versus Varlamov's 27. Mason had a very respectable career and honestly gets too much rap for ending sooner. He really was a pretty elite goaltender for six seasons. Varlamov had 2 elite seasons, but beyond that has just been average. Mason also gets rap for being beaten out by Bobrovsky, but honestly, you can't blame him for that. the year they traded him was the year bob won his first Vezina. Lastly, he ultimately left not because of a lack of skill, but rather concussion and injury issues and because of that, people forget how good he actually was during his time. To me, the extra, really, 3 seasons Varlamov has doesn't take this spot over Mason. But, that's just my opinion.
I think a video covering some of the most notorious busts (i.e. Alexandre Daigle, Rick DiPietro) or some of the more controversial players to play in the NHL (i.e. Alexi Yashin) would be interesting.
Henrik Lundqvist gotta be one of if not the best NHL goalie to not have won the Stanley Cup based on his Rangers/and NHL records, international success like 1 Olympic gold & 1 silver, 1 World Cup gold & 2 silver, Vezina Trophy winner etc.
You know what Matt Murray has that Vasilevskiy doesn’t? Two Stanley Cups and a series win over him. He’s a really good goalie though, I don’t blame you for putting him at 1.
I remember the Kari Lehtonen draft! I was unfortunately a Thrashers STH back then. It's a shame Bobrovsky was never drafted because I think he may easily be the best out of the 2006 Draft Class. And to think that Philadelphia Flyers manager in 06' said they skipped drafting Bob because they said it was difficult to draft Russian players back then! Correct me if Im wrong but, isn't Semyon Varlomov a russian player too? He was drafted that same year so if it was sooo, yeah. Great list though. Cant really argue against any of those picks.
Goff #38 naw gibson stat wise is absolutely unreal and probably the best goalie atm. Ya sure bennington has a cup but he had an unreal team that played a. very structured game.
Goff #38 oh ya not saying he was important he pretty much turned the blues regular season around and then the team really started to mesh together. He was vital to the championship. Easily a top 3 player in that series. Gibson just plays for a pretty average team as of late :/
@@liam9616 I do know alot about hockey and did you know price holds the most losses for every Canadiens netminder every between the pipes? Quick is athletic and very fun to watch when he makes great saves. Price and his $10,000,000 contract isent looking that good since the Canadiens havent got a playoff spot. Plus Quick is my hometown boy from Connecticut
@@GabeDover1306 Someone drafted him in 2010, never signed him to an entry level deal after 3 years so he became a free agent and decided to re enter the draft
OhNyquist Seth Markley Bruh you sound ignorant. Any team deserves a cup as long as they work for it. They got a lucky expansion draft. People thought the team was gonna suck, and now people are saying they were handed a team?
CaptinDERPII are you a flames fan because I can tell, but no worries because I am to,so I am like......yeah he should but no he shouldn’t I’m on the fence but because I’m a flames fan I’m with you
MC Mikey Binninighton hasn’t even played a full 82 games in the NHL, Well Gibson has played many seasons. They’re both really good goalies but if anything Binninighton is overrated
@@BenSchleede well has Gibson been able to carry a struggling team? Binnington has, and even if he hasn't played a full season yet. He's still playing great as of this season too. So he's proving last year wasn't a fluke
MC Mikey that is true I just think Gibson should be the best draft pick from that year because he has more experience and has shown he is able to play good season after season
@@McMikey78 The Blues were a great team who underachieved until getting their shit together in January. No other goalie in the league faced as few shots on average per game as Binnington did last year. Gibson on the other hand played on a disastrous Anahaim team with absolute garbage defense.
VASE over Freddy Anderson? Freddy would have multiple Stanley cups by now if he played on the right teams, Vase was on the best team we've seen in a decade and couldn't get it
