This is the ultimate way to take a golf lesson! It’s not just about hitting the ball, but understanding what needs to be done to make the correct assessment for the next stroke. Loved watching this one!

I like how he teaches, asking you what you see and think before explaining his understanding. Killing it out there Garrett!
@WhaddupImJohn
@WhaddupImJohn 3 года назад
For the closeness to the ball deal and not transferring the same set up from range to play I started doing the exact same routine i do on the course on the range. Same tempo, same exact ritual. Always standing behind the ball looking at my target and making two practice swings. Helped me tremendously. You wont be able to hit as many practice balls but i feel like it is really beneficial.

I am so happy for you Garrett, because everyone needs a coach that knows what they are doing AND very good at explaining what they need you to understand. After a year or so, all these things he's telling you will become instinctive, but until then, keep on using a professional coach. I truly believe that, YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES!

I really liked the detail. Garrett often seems to not be fully focussed. Maybe that phrase 'I am a feel player' lets him think he can get away with it. It is possible to internalize the knowledge so feel still happens. Love the lesson videos.

Garrett swing a club with only your left hand/arm. Build dominants with it. Its is the only difference in your and Tigs consistency. The left arm keeps you on plane and on the slot. When it gets out from your body on the downswing you pull hook it.

This brings about the age old debate of I just want to have fun and play with my friends vs it's time to take golf to the next level. Straddling the two takes something away from both. Tough spot to be in. However, you react and adapt quite well to serious coaching. It appears as though you do not have much success self-diagnosing and making small adjustments in realtime. Not trying to be critical, but it helps sometimes to have an outsiders perspective on bigger-picture. Just like what he said about reading the green early. I should go pro in youtube commentary with that neat/tidy ending (pats myself on the back).
